Chapter 157: Game Over Retry Authority And Barrier Authority
After all of the Dimensional Gates were destroyed and all of the otherworld invaders were eliminated, the players who participated in the second limited time task soon received their rewards.
The rewards they received were deducted from Weiss’ Dev points but Weiss didn’t mind much since at least he could use his Dev points to hire the players to go against the otherworld invaders.
If he didn’t offer any rewards, Weiss was troubled if those players were to defect to the otherworld invaders’ side if a sentient humanoid otherworld invader were to arrive and tempt them to their side.
Of course, Weiss wasn’t helpless if that ever happened. As long as he knew the identity of those who defected, he could remove the game power they received using his Game Developer authorities.
Just like how a Game Developer or Game Administrators can ban players and delete their accounts, Weiss could do the same.
In scenarios where he didn’t know who was the traitor, Weiss could just hire the player hunters to do his bidding. But if one of the player hunters were the traitors, then Weiss would still not be affected that much since he could still delete their game powers.
“Now that the Otherworld Invasion has ended, the players are now allowed to return to playing the games. And with the worldwide announcement I had made before coupled with the appearance of the Dimensional Gates, those blue starlings would choose to play my games now.”
“I should also contact Ayame since I have to indirectly assist her in completing Cozy Vacation Life so that they can complete the game as soon as possible. As long as they can complete Cozy Vacation Life, I can update Zombie Survival Online into the second version.”
With that plan in mind, Weiss had already planned to accompany Ayame and her teammates.
He had already checked the Game Item Shop and he bought one of the authorities there that would assist Ayame and her teammates without him having to spoonfeed the answers to them.
After all, he couldn’t blatantly and directly assist the players but he could still indirectly assist them.
The authority he bought was none other than the Game Over Retry Authority.
The Game Over Retry Authority allowed the authority user to retry the game to their last checkpoint whenever they encountered a Game Over.
For example, if one of the players in Ayame’s team were to die, that would meet the condition for activating the Game Over Retry Authority.
If he were to activate it, Weiss could let all of them return to the time that Ayame’s teammate hadn’t died. Of course, the activation of it was dependent on Weiss’ choice.
The only time it wasn’t was when he died himself and experienced a game over. In that case, the authority would activate itself to revive him to the time when he could avoid or solve the game over.
In other words, the Game Over Retry Authority could allow Ayame and her teammates to complete the game more efficiently since they didn’t have to return to the luxury cruise ship arc and start all over again but return to their save point after experiencing a game over.
As long as Weiss was present during their game session, Weiss could act as the save point for Ayame and her teammates.
“Now that I have purchased the Game Over Retry Authority, I might as well contact Ayame now.”
“As for the server only having 10 players, I can either choose to kick out one of Ayame’s teammates or just use my game developer authorities to temporarily expand the server to accommodate one more player.”
“I can just explain it to them as one of the perks of being a beta tester. I don’t have to worry about other beta testers proving that I am lying since the rest of the beta testers are just my creations.”
With that plan in mind, Weiss left the expanded space and returned to his room.
After returning to his room, Weiss decided to enter the game lobby instead of calling Ayame in the real world.
Weiss knew that with Ayame’s mindset, Ayame would likely enter and play Cozy Vacation Life as soon as possible so that she could become stronger.
From Weiss’ assumption, the otherworld invasion must have caused Ayame the urge to become as strong as possible. With how Ayame wanted to become independent, she wouldn’t want to keep relying on him so Weiss had already expected that Ayame would immediately play Cozy Vacation Life as soon as possible.
Lying on his bed, Weiss said to Alice, “I’ll be off to play Cozy Vacation Life. If you feel bored, you can choose to just watch me and Ayame play the game in spectator mode. Although, choose the other variation of the spectator mode which is the admin spectator mode.”
Alice nodded at Weiss, “Okay, I don’t mind since I enjoy watching you.”
The admin spectator mode was different from the default spectator mode that dead players would have access to.
The purpose of the admin spectator mode was for either Weiss or those he had set as admins to spectate the players and administrate the game. They would not be discovered by dead players so they could spectate the players and observe if they could find any signs of dishonest behaviors, cheating, exploits, etc.
However, with how flawless the game workshop was, it was impossible for the game developed by Weiss to be hacked by players. The only possible way was to find exploits that Weiss had overlooked since he wasn’t perfect and he was bound to make flaws even if he believed that it was impossible for it to happen.

Unlike cheating using hacks, exploits were mostly glitches and bugs in a game that players could take advantage of to gain an edge against other players.
Hacking would be to gain access to game data and rewrite it to their advantage. On the other hand, exploiting was just players taking advantage of the bugs or glitches that the game developers were unaware of.
Exploiting was indeed cheating but it wasn’t hacking. At least, players don’t have access to game data when exploiting since they were just taking advantage of the bugs and glitches that the game developers had either overlooked or haven’t fixed yet.
Although, even if there were exploits in his game, Weiss didn’t have to worry about that since the Game AI could easily spot a player that had been using exploits. And since the Game AI didn’t give any reports to him regarding that, then there were likely no exploits in his game, or it didn’t exist in the first place.
After agreeing with Weiss, Alice added, “Although, can you at least talk to me using telepathy? You can use your game developer authorities to chat with me via our mind without letting your sister and her teammates discover it.”
“I’ll do the same and talk to you via telepathy since I might be bored just by watching since it feels like being neglected.”
In response to Alice’s request, Weiss hugged her, “Don’t worry, I will. I love you and I don’t want you to feel neglected.”
“If the two of us are alone such as being alone in my hotel room in the Windesburg Hotel, we can cuddle and talk with each other.”
Hearing Weiss’ agreement, Alice kissed Weiss, “You are the best!”
After Weiss and Alice came to an agreement, Weiss and Alice didn’t enter the game yet.
Instead, Weiss decided to buy another authority from the Game Item Shop.
After all, he still needed an authority that could provide him with self-defense. He couldn’t use his reality manipulation in Cozy Vacation Life since he could only use game power in Cozy Vacation Life which belonged to Cozy Vacation Life.
Of course, as the game developer, Weiss could bypass that rule. Even as a beta tester, Weiss could also provide them an explanation for using his game power from Zombie Survival Online in Cozy Vacation Life.
However, that was troublesome for him especially when he could just avoid that by purchasing himself an authority from Cozy Vacation Life.
After summoning the Game Item Shop’s system screen, Weiss checked the authority that he would purchase and soon enough, he found a useful authority for self-defense.
It was none other than the Barrier Authority.
It might seem like a simple authority that was quite lackluster. However, the true power of it was that it could allow the authority user to prevent anything from passing through their barrier.
Even if it was a mental attack, soul attack, or conceptual attack, Weiss could use the Barrier Authority to protect himself from those. The only limit of it was the energy required to create and maintain those barriers.
But if an attack was too powerful, the barrier would be destroyed and it would also cause a backlash towards the authority user.
In Weiss’ case, he didn’t have to worry about that since there wasn’t any attack that he couldn’t defend from.
After purchasing the Barrier Authority, Weiss said to Alice, “Let’s meet up in Cozy Vacation Life.”
