Chapter 173: Four Corners: Barrier Of Despair
A sea monster ten times bigger than their wooden ship appeared out of the ocean waters. With huge tentacles that could easily rip even the biggest ships, it was undoubtedly a Kraken.
“Fuck! I’m not suited for naval warfare.”
Hearing Kayden cursing about his inability to fight in the ocean, Ayame sighed, “Most of us aren’t suited for battles in such environments. Only JordanPlayz is specialized for naval warfare but even he hasn’t mastered his Water Authority yet.”
In response to that, JordanPlayz sighed, “It’s my fault for being this weak. I can only drive the ship and still can’t attack and drive the ship at the same time.”
Shirohige patted JordanPlayz’s shoulder, “That’s alright, bro. You have only received the Water Authority in this game session and didn’t have enough time to train in using it.”
“Not all of us are geniuses and prodigies like the main gamer team. That’s why we are sacrificial lambs instead of the key players in this team.”
GoldMiner interjected, “Speaking of sacrificial lamb, do you guys want me to go all out in using my Midas Authority? I might not be able to turn the whole body of the Kraken into gold, but I can transform a fourth of its body and use the transmuted gold properties in its body to kill it slowly.”
“Although, if I did that, I might have to either pass out or even die from overexerting my usage over my Midas Authority.”
Ayame shook her head, “That’s why we didn’t let you deal with combat. You have obtained the Midas Authority a lot later than JordanPlayz so it’s a given that you aren’t proficient with it yet.”
Kayden nodded his head in agreement. Afterward, he asked, “Illya, can you devour the Kraken with your Gluttony Authority?”
In response, Illya nodded her head, “I can devour it, but even my Gluttony Authority has its limits. Whenever I overuse my Gluttony Authority, I’ll lose my mind in endless desires of gluttony.”
“So technically, I can use it as much as I want as there is no limit to it other than decreasing my sanity value. If it reached that level, the effects of the Eternal Beef of Satiation that I had previously eaten before would be overridden.”
“I would need to eat another Eternal Beef of Satiation to overcome the endless desires of insatiable hunger.”
Hearing Illya’s response, Kayden sighed. He didn’t want to force Illya to do that since if he did, he couldn’t forgive himself for being cruel to Illya.
Even if Illya was just an NPC, Kayden still treated her as human since she was as sentient as she could be. Even Winston was previously just an NPC yet he had already managed to travel and live in the real world.
However, if it did come down to it, Kayden had full control over Illya due to his life ownership over her. But as much as possible, Kayden would rather lose this round rather than force Illya to fall into insanity.
Illya added, “I can only eat half of the Kraken but it might not be enough. After all, the Kraken is like an octopus since it has nine brains and three hearts.”
“It can still threaten us even if half of its body has been devoured by me.”
Winston commented, “That’s true. And as much as I wanted to help, my Balloon Authority is on cooldown. Or rather than my Balloon Authority, my balloon curse is on cooldown so I can’t use it until tomorrow.”
“I can use the Balloon Authority but then again, the Kraken wouldn’t voluntarily touch the black book so I can’t infect it with the balloon curse.”
When the team heard Illya and Winston’s words, they all sighed except for Weiss.
While Weiss was using his invisible boxes to deal with the sharknado, he looked at them incredulously, “How come you all forgot that I still exist in this team?”
“Don’t look at me using my barrier to both protect the wooden ship as well as attack the undead sharks. I can still kill the Kraken if I want to since my proficiency over my Barrier Authority is at a high level.”
Ayame facepalmed, “Why of all people I forgot how exaggerated my brother’s skills are. Of course he can multi-task and kill the Kraken even with his attention on the sharknado and wooden ship.”
Kayden wryly smiled, “I haven’t forgotten about Weiss’ power but I don’t want to bother him with every problem that we had. Otherwise, we would be too reliant on Weiss’ power and we wouldn’t be able to complete upcoming games by Aspro if Weiss isn’t with us.”
In response to their words, Weiss sighed, “If you all don’t know, I will be playing with you guys from this game to all upcoming games developed by Aspro. So even if you all rely on me too much, it wouldn’t matter since I’ll be there until the otherworld invasion ends.”
“Although, I doubt the otherworld invasion has an end to it. We might become higher existences far stronger than those gods mentioned in those religions yet we still can’t end the otherworld invasion.”
Ayame sighed, “Well, that’s true. Since brother wants to assist us in completing Aspro’s games, we can only rely on him.”
Hearing that Ayame agreed to him intervening, Weiss immediately shifted some of his attention towards the Kraken, “Okay then, I’ll deal with this octopus.”
While maintaining the perfect cube barrier as well as summoning invisible boxes against those undead sharks, Weiss glared at the Kraken as he spoke, “Four Corners: Barrier Of Despair!”

After shouting some cool ability name that was completely unnecessary, Weiss used his Barrier Authority against the Kraken.
Slightly visible barriers appeared around the Kraken. It was mostly barriers from all four corners as it expanded and trapped the Kraken inside a perfect cube.
It was like the upgraded version of Weiss’ Perfect Cube but on the case that it dealt with larger targets. It also has a slight delay in deploying it since it took a few seconds before the four corners spread to form a cube with the Kraken inside it.
After the Kraken was trapped inside the cube barrier, the Kraken started throwing a tantrum inside the cube barrier.
The Kraken slammed all eight of its tentacles on the barrier with speed and power that broke the sound barrier. However, Weiss’ perfect cube only shook a bit but remained durable and stable.
There weren’t even any cracks on Weiss’ perfect cube which went to show how powerful and durable his barrier was.
The Kraken continued to use its tentacles as it slammed it toward the barrier walls. However, no matter how much it attempted to destroy the cube barrier walls, it couldn’t put a dent in the durable barrier walls.
Noticing that its physical attack was ineffective against the barrier walls, the Kraken opened its mouth and a water energy sphere was gathering in its mouth.
When the water energy sphere became half as big as its head, the Kraken released it and shot it toward the barrier walls.
A water energy sphere flew at the speed of sound and it collided with the walls of Weiss’ barrier.
“Heh, it’s futile. Even if I am occupied and doing three tasks at the same time, my barrier’s durability is almost indestructible.”
Weiss sneered after seeing that the kraken’s water energy sphere exploded yet it still couldn’t put a crack on his barrier.
The wooden ship was still moving at high speeds and they were still being pursued by the undead sharks and the sharknado. As for why the Kraken could follow Weiss and the wooden ship, it couldn’t since as soon as it was trapped by Weiss, Weiss had brought it alongside them as it floated along with the wooden ship.
After the Kraken struggled to break free a couple more times, Weiss forwarded his left hand in the direction where the Kraken was located.
Weiss clenched his left hand and spoke, “Minimize!”
Under Weiss’ control, the perfect cube that trapped the Kraken soon shrunk in size.
The shrinking speed of the perfect cube wasn’t slow or fast. It was shrinking at a moderate pace but the Kraken soon lost space in the perfect cube as it was too big.
When it had no longer any free space in the perfect cube, the Kraken widened its eyes in fear as if it had some intelligence. It knew that it was going to die and it started to regret its actions.
Weiss didn’t care about the thoughts and feelings of the Kraken as he continued shrinking the perfect cube.
Whenever the perfect cube shrunk and squeezed its body, the Kraken felt fear and despair.
Soon enough, the perfect cube forcefully shrunk itself to the size of a Rubik’s cube. The kraken inside it was forcefully compressed into a cube and undoubtedly, it was already dead.
After Weiss defeated the Kraken, he placed the compressed Kraken meat cube on the wooden ship, “All that’s left is to defend ourselves from the sharknado.”
