Chapter 200: Obtaining The Music Authority
After Shirohige completed the third challenge, the scenery changed, and returned to the musical theater from before.

While the live stream viewers were arguing with each other due to one killjoy, Shirohige was unaware of it since he couldn’t see the live stream chat.

“Hah! That went better than I expected! I can’t believe that I managed to create the perfect sound and even went through all those challenges. The power of music shouldn’t be underestimated.”

Shirohige was currently in a state of cloud nine, especially after completing three grueling challenges. The three challenges for the Music Authority had put a toll on both his mental and physical stamina since they were very demanding on his focus and attention.

Especially the third challenge where he had to literally create the perfect sound that could breakthrough even the most silent realm.

While Shirohige was taking a break as he sat on the chair placed in front of the grand piano, there were several wraiths that appeared above Shirohige and were about to attack him!

Those wraiths were semi-transparent shadowy figures who had no facial features. Or more like, their facial feature was obscured by their hooded and flowing tattered robes and the resentment which took the form of a shadow had completely obscured their facial features.

From their face, the only discernible features they had were red glowing eyes that seemed to look at Shirohige with deep hatred and frustration.

If Shirohige was in his peak state, he would have perceived the wraiths, especially after obtaining the Music Authority which had increased his awareness and perception of sound.

But now, Shirohige’s exhaustion as well as excitement had clouded his mind and dulled his perception of the world around him.

Those wraiths didn’t seem to care whether Shirohige was ready to fight them or not since their goal was not to defeat Shirohige in a fair battle but to eliminate him.

The wraiths in the musical theater were the manifestation of the accumulated frustration of those musical performers who had wanted to reach a higher realm in their music but were stuck at a bottleneck.

So when they saw that Shirohige had broken through that bottleneck and reached a higher realm in music, those wraiths couldn’t accept it so they wanted to eliminate Shirohige.

Noticing the wraiths, ProGamerXD yelled out, “Shirohige, watch out! From above!”

With ProGamerXD’s yelling, Shirohige was snapped back to the game world and was no longer daydreaming about his Music Authority.

However, it was too late since the wraith was quite fast as they were almost a few meters away from attacking Shirohige. And with their current speed, they’d had already attacked Shirohige before he could even press the piano keys to attack them.

Knowing that he couldn’t reach the piano keys before the wraiths would attack him, Shirohige opted for another method to attack the wraiths.

Shirohige hummed, “Mmm-hmm-mmm~!”

When Shirohige performed his humming, he managed to make a melody out of it as it allowed him to use his Music Authority.

With just humming alone, Shirohige created a spherical barrier around himself.

When the wraiths were about to attack him, their attacks failed as they could only land on the spherical barrier around Shirohige.

Unlike Weiss’ invisible barriers, Shirohige’s barriers could be seen by the naked eye, but only if someone had a keen eye or was close enough to see it. After all, even if it wasn’t invisible, it was still transparent and see-through.

Sparks flew after the wraiths’ sharp claws collided with the music barrier. Usually, their attacks could even pass through any solid objects since those wraiths could phase through solid objects.

However, Shirohige’s music barrier wasn’t merely a solid object but an energy-like construct. It was the manifestation of his music, so those wraiths couldn’t bypass his music barrier.

After Shirohige blocked the attacks of all the wraiths with his music barrier, Shirohige had stalled himself enough time to put his hands above the piano keys and start playing the grand piano.

With just simple strokes on the piano keys, Shirohige didn’t need to use the Music Authority in an advanced way to defeat those wraiths. Compared to the natural disasters, sirens, and oppressive silence, the wraiths weren’t that much of a threat to him.

After Shirohige played the piano, the wraiths dissipated as they were overpowered by Shirohige’s piano music.

“With the Music Authority, I don’t even need to play the perfect sound to defeat canon fodders like those wraiths. If not for me being caught off-guard by them, they wouldn’t have posed a threat to me.”

“Now, I’m no longer weak like before. I won’t be useless enough to let my soul be used as a wager for a gambling match.”

After Shirohige defeated the wraiths, he left his chair and headed to Ayame and the rest of the team.

Reuniting with Ayame, Weiss, Kayden, and ProGamerXD, Shirohige thanked them, “Thanks for being there to support me! Without you guys, I likely wouldn’t obtain the Music Authority.”
