Chapter 204: Only With Enough Power Can Equality Be Achieved
Bianca added, “We aren’t obligated to play as heroes but we also aren’t interested in ruling the world or bringing suffering to others. We are already responsible enough to use our power for ourselves without planning world domination or enslaving everyone in the world.”
“The lives of other people don’t concern me. I only care about those who are dear to me. But because of my neutrality, I don’t mind saving others who are suffering in front of me. However, don’t expect me to go to other parts of the world to save others since I’m not a hero.”
After Bianca answered the curiosity of the Game AI, the Game AI responded.
[Since you answered all my questions, I won’t take any more of your time. I’m only a Game AI so I don’t care about how you mortals use your power. No matter how you use your power, even if you fight amongst yourself, that’s the least of my concerns. It won’t affect me since I’ll always be in the game worlds.]
[With that in mind, the Equality Authority will be handed to you. You can use it in whatever way you want since as you said, it’s your power.]
After parting those words, the Game AI sent Bianca back to the game world.
…
Opening her eyes, Bianca’s consciousness returned to her game body in the Hall of Mirrors.
At the Hall of Mirrors, Bianca’s teammates were waiting for her and when they saw her open her eyes, Winston commented, “When you were asleep, there weren’t any monsters or evil spirits that attacked us. So did everything go well on your side?”
In response to that, Bianca used her Equality Authority towards GoldMiner.
GoldMiner suddenly felt that he couldn’t use his Midas Authority and he even felt his overall physical attributes being reduced.
Witnessing GoldMiner’s shocked look, Bianca explained, “I used my Equality Authority to make GoldMiner and me equal in power, giving us the same physical attributes and preventing both of us from using our authorities.
“There’s a loophole with the Equality Authority: it’s immune to itself. If I make it so neither GoldMiner nor I can use our authorities, GoldMiner can’t use his Midas Authority, and I can’t use my Equality Authority.”
“Even if I can’t use my Equality Authority anymore, its previous effects remain. Otherwise, it would be a paradox: if I banned GoldMiner’s Midas Authority, it would also ban my Equality Authority. But if I banned my Equality Authority along with GoldMiner’s Midas Authority, the equality wouldn’t have happened.”
“So, only the equalities I imposed before banning GoldMiner’s Midas Authority stay in effect. Using my Equality Authority beyond that would deactivate all the equalities I imposed.”
After Bianca explained how her Equality Authority worked, they were all surprised since it was very useful.
Not that it was useful in a one-on-one battle since Bianca would have to compensate with her skills and experience in combat if she wanted to beat GoldMiner with equal physical attributes.
But Bianca wasn’t alone. She had her teammates with her.
So in a real battle, Bianca could use her Equality Authority to drag the most powerful enemy with her in a state of equality. While the rest of her teammates can easily defeat that powerful opponent while in a state of Bianca’s equality debuff.
So on her own, Bianca would have to outsmart and outperform her opponent since she would have to defeat them when the two of them were both in an equal state.
But if she had her teammates with her, Bianca could prove to be helpful to them by applying equality debuffs to powerful opponents.
After receiving Bianca’s explanation regarding her Equality Authority, Kuroneko asked, “If that’s the case, wouldn’t it be far more useful if the weakest among us got the Equality Authority instead?”
“If Bianca became powerful, then she could only impose the same stats and power she had with her opponent. Because of that, her opponent would be on the same level as her. But if she was weak, then her opponent would have no choice but to become weak as well.”
Kuroneko added, “So, it’s a lot more convenient if a weaker player has the Equality Authority since they could impose their weakness on powerful players.”
In response to that, before Bianca could reply, Winston shook his head and dismissed Kuroneko’s assumption, “That sounds ideal, but you forgot that the authorities might be powerful, but they aren’t invincible.”
“Just like what Weiss had told us before. If Bianca used her Equality Authority against Weiss, Bianca couldn’t bite off more than she can chew. With how powerful Weiss is, Bianca couldn’t impose true equality on Weiss since she wouldn’t be powerful enough to do that. The same went if Bianca used it against a god.”
“Therefore, it’s better if Bianca has the Equality Authority rather than our weaker teammates. Only with enough power can equality be achieved.”
Hearing Winston’s words, Bianca nodded, “Winston is right. Only those with power can bring equality. I can only impose equality on enemies that aren’t too powerful. If they are out of my league, I can’t impose true equality but only one or few aspects of it.”
“For example, I can only use my Equality Authority to prevent Weiss from using one of his authorities but I can’t further impose other equalities such as in physical stats, superpowers, etc.”
GoldMiner realized something, “Wait, is it possible for you to deactivate Weiss’ Game Over Retry Authority with your Equality Authority?”

Remembering that she hadn’t deactivated the Equality Authority’s effects on GoldMiner yet, Bianca deactivated it and replied to him, “In theory, it’s possible. His Game Over Retry Authority is still an authority so I should be able to use my Equality Authority to deactivate.”
“However, I doubt that would even do anything. Weiss himself already mentioned that his reality manipulation superpower can resurrect himself and regress back in time like his Game Over Retry Authority.”
Receiving Bianca’s reply, GoldMiner thought for a while before he had speculation in mind, “What if we deactivate Weiss’ reality manipulation superpower? Will that work?”
