Chapter 217: Sword Battle Arena, Masked Swordsmen
Under Weiss’ suggestion, they all left the Engine Room and proceeded to enjoy the rest of the day at the luxury cruise ship’s entertainment facilities. Especially Weiss and Alice who went on a date inside the luxury cruise ship.
As for Kenshi?
Kenshi was still training in the gym.
At the gym, Kenshi was swinging his wooden sword.
“997!”
“998!”
“999!”
After doing the 999th sword swing, Kenshi became serious as he was about to do his 1000th sword swing.
Lifting his wooden sword, Kenshi swung it downwards in front of him, “1000!”
When Kenshi swung his sword a thousand times, he heard a game notification sound.
-Ding!
[You have completed the hidden achievement: Swing A Sword A Thousand Times!]
-Ding!
[You have triggered the condition to enter the Sword Battle Arena!]
[Do you want to challenge the sword masters in the Sword Battle Arena for a chance to obtain the Sword Authority?]
[Yes] | [No]
Reading the game screen in front of him, Kenshi didn’t hesitate to press the [Yes] button.
After Kenshi accepted the challenge, he was sent to another realm as he disappeared into the gym.
Just a few seconds after Kenshi disappeared, JordanPlayz entered the gym but he was confused to see that there was no one there.
“Wait, where is Kenshi? Didn’t he stay here to perform a thousand sword swings?”
“Did he perhaps already finish it and was now sent to the Sword Battle Arena? If that’s the case, I’ll inform Ayame and the rest.”
JordanPlayz left the gym to inform Ayame and his teammates about Kenshi’s disappearance.
…
When Kenshi opened his eyes, he found himself at a vast, circular coliseum that seemed to stretch infinitely under a sky perpetually cast in twilight.
The ground was covered with fine sand, worn smooth by countless battles, and stained with the memories of previous duels. High stone walls encircled the arena, their surfaces etched with ancient runes that glowed faintly, resonating with the energy of countless warriors who had fought there before.
Towering statues of legendary swordsmen stood at intervals along the perimeter, their stone faces stern and imposing as if silently judging the combatants.
The stands, though devoid of spectators, were crafted from dark, weathered stone and rose steeply, giving the arena a sense of grandeur and timelessness. Banners bearing ancient symbols fluttered in an unfelt breeze, adding to the arena’s mystique.
Above, the sky was a canvas of swirling twilight hues, casting an eerie, dim light over the arena. The occasional flicker of distant lightning illuminated the scene, hinting at a storm perpetually brewing on the horizon.
The air was thick with the scent of metal and the faint echo of long-past battles, creating an atmosphere heavy with anticipation and history.
Undoubtedly, Kenshi was brought into the Sword Battle Arena.

When he arrived here, he subconsciously reached to his waist to grab the hilt of a sword. But when he tried to grab the sword near his waist, Kenshi realized that he was transferred here without any sword so he was only grabbing the air beside him.
Kenshi complained, “Damn, this is a sword battle arena yet they didn’t even give me a sword.”
The heavy atmosphere within the Sword Battle Arena had put Kenshi in a state of unrest. He wouldn’t be able to calm himself down unless he touched and held a sword.
Fortunately for him, Kenshi didn’t have to wait that long since a steel sword appeared in front of him.
With a swift grabbing motion, Kenshi reached out for the steel sword and grabbed its hilt. After possessing a sword, Kenshi finally regained his composure as he felt more secure with a sword in hand.
Afterward, Kenshi encountered his first opponent.
His opponent was holding a steel sword just like him and he wore a simple attire. However, his face was covered by a mask with the number “1” on it.
Without waiting for Kenshi, the number 1 masked man attacked him as he slashed his sword towards him.
“As expected of the first opponent, it’s full of flaws and not that powerful.”
Kenshi commented with a hint of mockery as he easily dodged the sword slash of the masked man and retaliated with a sword slash that decapitated the masked man.
The head of the masked man with the Number 1 Mask fell and rolled on the sandy ground.
Just before it could stain the sand with his blood, the corpse of the masked man disappeared.
Another masked man appeared but this time, he had the Number 2 Mask covering his face. As usual, the masked man also wielded an ordinary steel sword like what Kenshi also had.
The Masked Swordsman Number 2 took the initiative as he attacked Kenshi by performing a sword slash. This time, his swordsmanship seemed to be a bit more refined than Number 1 but from Kenshi’s perspective, it was still at the level of a trash.
Parrying Number 2’s sword, Kenshi didn’t kill him yet as he maneuvered his sword to push Number 2 far away from him.
With Number 2 flying backward from the force of his sword move, Kenshi was given enough time to recollect his thoughts and ponder about his current situation.
‘In the Sword Battle Arena, Weiss wasn’t mistaken when he said it’s all about the swordsmanship rather than the sword or power. When I clashed against Number 1, I felt that his power was comparable to mine.’
‘And now, I verified it with Number 2. Number 2’s power is similar to Number 2 as well as mine. Rather than calling it similar, it’s seemed to be completely equal.’
‘However, the difference is that Number 1’s swordsmanship is inferior to Number 2. Although Number 2’s swordsmanship is still trash, it’s better than Number 1’s swordsmanship and I can expect that my opponents’ swordsmanship will increase as the number on their masks increases.’
‘When I reach the 100th Masked Swordsman, I wonder how powerful his swordsmanship is. He would undoubtedly be a master swordsman and it’s possible that his swordsmanship might even be stronger than mine!’
When Kenshi thought about that, he couldn’t help but get excited!
