Chapter 230: Using The Clarity Crystal Against The Ugly Sculpture
GoldMiner didn’t disagree and listened to Kayden’s command as he activated the hidden passage of the abandoned hotel room and descended to the hidden treasury located underground.

The stone passageway was narrow and dark, lined with cobwebs and dust, a testament to how long it had been since anyone had ventured this way. The air was musty, and the faint sound of dripping water echoed through the passage as GoldMiner made his way down, his footsteps echoing softly against the stone floor.

While GoldMiner was heading to the hidden treasury to fetch the three Ghost Fire Sapphires, Kayden, Ayame, Weiss, and the rest of them waited in the abandoned hotel room.

A minute after they were waiting, something appeared and entered the abandoned hotel room. It was an uninvited guest whose face was so ugly that it began to pollute the minds of Ayame and her teammates.

It was none other than the ugly sculpture, a sculpture so ugly that it had the power to lower the sanity value of those who looked at its ugly appearance.

The only exception was Weiss who had used his Barrier Authority to block the mental pollution of the ugly sculpture so that it wouldn’t affect him. He didn’t have to worry about Alice beside him since she was essentially part of the system so the product of the system would not harm her.

Since the ugly sculpture was just a mere NPC, it was impossible for it to be powerful enough to harm Alice.

The players had better chances of harming Alice than those NPCs who were a product of the system.

Even then, the players were defenseless against Weiss if he decided to deprive them of their power using his Game Developer Authorities.

“Ah fuck! It’s this damn monster again! It’s so fucking ugly!”

ProGamerXD cursed as he wanted to look away from the ugly sculpture but he couldn’t.

The ugly sculpture could attract the player’s attention so as long as the player saw the ugly sculpture once, there was no way to unsee its ugly face again.

Even if they were to close their eyes, the ugly sculpture’s appearance was already imprinted in their minds and would slowly erode their sanity value.

So even if the players averted their eyes from the ugly sculpture or even went as far as blinding their eyes, it was no use since the only cure was to either take the Red Purification Pill or erase their memories that contained the ugly appearance of the ugly sculpture.

The other exception was to use authorities against it such as authorities that could block its influence such as Weiss’ Barrier Authority.

Upon activation, the Clarity Crystal shimmered a dim blue light before fading. Although it was no longer shimmering, Kayden could still feel that it was taking effect regardless of the lack of special effects.

When the Clarity Crystal was activated, Kayden heaved a sigh of relief as he felt an invisible barrier being erected in his mind that prevented the ugly sculpture’s pollution from eroding his mind.

The clarity and focus that the Clarity Crystal granted also allowed him to adapt to the ugly sculpture’s appearance that was present in his memory.

Although that didn’t give him immunity to the ugly appearance of the ugly sculpture, it still allowed him and his teammates to be resistant to the previous mental pollution caused by the ugly sculpture.

In other words, even if Kayden were to deactivate the Clarity Crystal, their minds had already been purified of the effects of the ugly sculpture’s mental pollution. Hearing Kayden’s words, Bianca didn’t disagree with him since she knew that he was right. After all, Bianca only planned to use her Equality Authority as a last resort against the ugly sculpture.

Kuroneko shook his head, “That will take too long since we have to wait for GoldMiner. Just let me do it and I’ll banish this motherfucker to the shadow realm.”
