Kuroneko stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with determination. “I’ll handle this, let me cook,” he said, raising his grimoire, the Duality of Black And White. “Freeing these souls and banishing the dark energy here is within my power.”

He took a deep breath and began to chant an incantation, his voice echoing through the crimson ballroom.

The air grew thick with dark energy as he recited the words, each syllable dripping with an edgy and dark intensity.

“By the shadows that whisper in the abyss, by the darkness that binds the unseen, I call upon the ancient spirits of the netherworld.”

“Let the chains of sorrow be shattered, let the flames of despair be quenched.”

“I, Kuroneko, master of the Duality of Black and White, command thee to sever the ties that bind these souls.”

“In the name of the eternal night, let the spirits be free and the darkness be purged.”

“Rise, oh shadows, and consume the remnants of this evil ritual. Shadows, heed my call, and release these souls from their torment!”

As the final words left his lips, the ballroom was engulfed in swirling shadows and a cold wind.

The spectral dancers and musicians began to shimmer and fade, their tormented forms dissolving into the darkness.

Kuroneko’s grimoire glowed with an eerie light, absorbing the soul energy released from the freed spirits.

Kuroneko felt a surge of power course through him as the soul energy integrated with his being. He could feel his synchronization rate with Shironeko, his alter ego, improving.

The remnant spirit of the Duality of Black And White that had attempted to take over his body now seemed to harmonize more with his will.

He stood there, the energy settling within him, granting him greater control over Shironeko. The alter ego, once a chaotic presence within him, now felt more like a part of himself, an extension of his power and will.

However, it wasn’t fully synchronized yet so Kuroneko dared not use his Shironeko Form that lightly. Only when it was necessary that he would resort to using it.

Ayame watched as the last of the spirits faded away, the oppressive atmosphere lifting from the ballroom. She placed a hand on Kuroneko’s shoulder. “Thank you. You’ve done a great service to these souls.”

Kuroneko nodded, a faint, enigmatic smile playing on his lips. “The shadows beckon us forward. We have much to unravel, and Maverick Windesburg’s dark machinations won’t pause for our preparation.”

Hearing Kuroneko who seemed to be still immersed in his roleplay as the lord of darkness and shadows, the rest of the team were speechless but they didn’t judge him.

With nothing to do left, the team left the Crimson Ballroom, prepared for the challenges that lay ahead in the haunted halls of Windesburg Hotel.

As usual, they enlisted Kayden in the job of navigator. For them, Kayden’s shoe was much more reliable than not only the map shown in the massive leather book but even the treasure compass.

“Now that I think about it, how come we haven’t gotten any game items yet? Or even any authorities?”

Hearing Shirohige pose that question, Bianca speculated, “It’s likely that there aren’t any game items in the forbidden areas we came from. And besides, the massive leather book can be considered as a game item but not an artifact like we expect it to be.”

“As for authorities, we aren’t the only players in Cozy Vacation Life so those forbidden areas might have offered authorities but we were too late to get them.”

Bianca shrugged as she added, “And besides, even if they got it, I doubt they can complete one of the main objectives in Cozy Vacation Life so they wouldn’t be able to bring it into the real world.”

“However, it will be hard to snipe the authority since we don’t know how many players knew about it and if they were also planning to snipe it from those who got it.”

Listening to Bianca’s words, Ayame asked, “Brother, were there any authorities in the Gallery Hall of Whispers and Crimson Ballroom?”

In response to that, Weiss nodded his head, “It doesn’t hurt to tell you all since it’s common knowledge, but every forbidden area at least has a game item or an authority. It’s for the sake of game balancing since completing a challenge must let the player be rewarded.”

“After all, it’s frustrating to attempt to complete a challenge yet in the end, no rewards are given.”

“All beta testers have played almost every part of Aspro’s game and even completed every challenge to test it out on whether it doesn’t have any bugs or balancing issues.”

“And all of us beta testers were even allowed to use every game item and authorities to test it out. So the authorities and game items we have are chosen by us on which fit us better while also keeping in mind that players like you get the authorities. We mostly got authorities that are more difficult to obtain such as conditions to be met like Kenshi’s Sword Authority.”

“Beta testers such as myself didn’t get easy to get authorities like GoldMiner’s Midas Authority which can be obtained by just touching a rock and being worthy or ProGamerXD’s Shipwright Authority which can be obtained by merely seeing the luxury cruise ship’s blueprint.”

Not only did Ayame and her team listen to Weiss, but also the rest of the live stream viewers since the words of the World’s Strongest were very valuable to them.

When they heard Weiss’ words, they saw the beta testers in a better light and had more respect for them. After all, the beta testers didn’t take all of their opportunities despite being able to do so.
