Chapter 262: Dark Secrets Of The Abandoned Nursery
Ayame kept her live stream audience updated, explaining their findings and the significance of each clue.
The eerie ambiance and the shifting drawings added a layer of suspense that kept the viewers on the edge of their seats.
As they explored, Bianca pointed to a set of drawings that depicted children with glowing eyes and strange symbols etched into their skin.
“These must be the results of Maverick’s experiments,” she said, her voice tinged with anger. “He was trying to imbue them with supernatural abilities.”
Winston’s Eye of Insight glowed faintly as he examined the drawings more closely. “These symbols are part of a dark ritual. If we can find the source, we might be able to undo some of the damage he caused,” he explained.
Kayden flipped his shoe again, watching it land pointing towards a corner of the room. “Looks like we’ve got another lead,” he said with a grin. “Let’s check it out.”
As they followed Kayden’s lead, the sense of foreboding grew stronger.
The live stream chat buzzed with excitement and fear, the audience eagerly anticipating what they might uncover next.
[ModernGuy: Damn! This Maverick Windesburg is too damn inhumane! Using black magic and sacrificing the lives of innocent people is one thing, but he even dared to use children as experimental materials?! Now I’m itching to continue playing Cozy Vacation Life just so I can beat up Maverick Windesburg in the boss battle!]
[PopoPops: With the influx of players having dark-type powers, it’s not unusual for the government to let players use the otherworld invaders as materials for their dark magic such as Kuroneko using them. And it’s also not impossible to use death row inmates. But children? Maverick Windesburg has gone way too far.]
[SonataOfDeath: And if you guys have remembered, Illya had mentioned that she was used as an experimental material by Maverick Windesburg before and she was even subjected to torture. If not for Illya’s immortality granted by her Gluttony Authority, she would have long died like the rest of the children in the Abandoned Nursery.]
[RealMan: Crime against women and children is the worst. After Ayame and Bianca finish their live stream, even if my memories regarding the information displayed in their live stream would be sealed by the Game AI, that won’t stop me from playing Cozy Vacation Life in order to beat up Maverick Windesburg!]
The live stream viewers were riled up after discovering Maverick Windesburg’s actions of using children as experimental subjects. They all watched Ayame’s live stream and were encouraging her to defeat Maverick Windesburg as soon as possible!
While the live stream viewers had become lively, the group reached the corner where a particularly large and detailed drawing was etched into the wall.
It depicted a twisted version of the hotel, with shadowy figures looming over frightened children.
“We’re getting closer,” Ayame said, determination in her voice. “Keep your guard up, everyone.”
Weiss, watching silently from the background, remained vigilant. He knew that if anything went wrong, he would step in and use his Game Over Retry Authority. But for now, he let Ayame and her team handle the situation, trusting in their abilities and teamwork to see them through.
The dark secrets of the Abandoned Nursery awaited them, and Ayame was ready to face whatever horrors they might encounter next.
As they examined the large, detailed drawing, a sudden chill ran through the room. The air grew colder, and a low, eerie whisper echoed around them.
The drawings on the walls seemed to shift and move more aggressively, almost as if they were reacting to the presence of Ayame and her team.
“Be on your guard,” Ayame warned, her eyes scanning the room for any sign of danger.
Kayden, flipping his shoe once more, watched it land pointing towards a cracked wooden door at the back of the nursery. “Looks like we’re supposed to go through there,” he said, his voice steady but tense.
The team approached the door cautiously.
Winston’s Eye of Insight glowed brighter as he examined the door. “There’s something beyond this door,” he said. “A strong concentration of dark energy. We need to be prepared for anything.”
Ayame nodded and gestured for Kuroneko to take the lead.
Kuroneko summoned his grimoire, the Duality of Black and White, and began to chant a protective spell.
“Dark Magic: Shadow Shield!” he intoned, and a shimmering barrier of dark energy enveloped the team.
With their defenses in place, Ayame pushed the door open, revealing a narrow, dimly lit hallway.
The walls were lined with more drawings, these even more disturbing than the ones in the nursery. They depicted scenes of torment and suffering, children being subjected to unspeakable horrors.
“This is horrible,” Bianca whispered, her eyes filled with sorrow and anger. “We have to put an end to this.”

The hallway seemed to stretch on forever, each step they took echoing loudly in the oppressive silence.
As they moved forward, the drawings on the walls became more vivid and lifelike, almost as if they were trying to communicate with the team.
Winston paused, his Eye of Insight scanning the drawings. “These images are telling a story,” he said. “It’s a chronicle of Maverick Windesburg’s experiments. If we can decode them, we might find a way to counter his dark magic.”
Ayame nodded. “Let’s take a closer look. Everyone, spread out and see what you can find.”
The team split up, each member examining a different section of the hallway. Ayame’s live stream continued to capture every moment, the viewers glued to their screens as the team pieced together the dark history of the Abandoned Nursery.
Kuroneko’s eyes widened as he read the inscriptions beneath one of the drawings. “These are instructions for a ritual,” he said. “A ritual to imbue children with supernatural abilities. But it’s incomplete. There are steps missing.”
“Can you fill in the gaps?” Ayame asked, her voice tense with anticipation.
Kuroneko nodded slowly. “I think so. With the knowledge I’ve gained from my dark magic studies, I can infer the missing parts. But it’s going to take some time.”
“We’ll cover you,” Ayame said. “Everyone, stay alert.”
