Chapter 264: Emily Rigged The Game But We Have Unlimited Retries
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
GoldMiner chose paper. Emily chose scissors. His body fell, lifeless, next to his friends.
Kuroneko, his face set with determination, stepped forward. “I won’t let this continue.”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
Kuroneko chose rock. Emily chose paper. He fell without a sound, his eyes empty.
Bianca, wanting to give it a shot, faced Emily. “I have to try.”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
Bianca chose scissors. Emily chose rock. Bianca collapsed, her body lifeless on the cold floor.
The remaining team members watched in horror as their friends fell victim to Emily’s deadly game. Each loss weighed heavily on them, the stakes becoming clearer and more desperate with each round.
Weiss, standing in the background, looked indifferent as if he was just watching some kind of game show. Anyway, they might have lost their souls, but this was only a game world so Weiss wasn’t worried about their wellbeing.
Furthermore, he knew he couldn’t intervene yet so he didn’t do anything for now.
If they lost completely, he would have to use his Game Over Retry Authority. For now, he watched, hoping for a miracle.
Shirohige stepped forward, his eyes filled with resolve. “I’ll go next.”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
Shirohige chose rock. Emily chose paper. He fell to the ground, his body joining the others in lifeless stillness.
Winston, seeing no other option, took a deep breath and stepped forward. “It’s my turn.”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
Winston chose paper. Emily chose scissors. He fell, his body lifeless among his comrades.
The rest of them tried as well such as Kenshi, Illya, and JordanPlayz but it didn’t change anything as they all lost to Emily in the death game of rock, paper, scissors, causing their death.
Kayden, standing as the last hope, looked at Emily with a mixture of fear and determination. “I don’t know what will happen, but I have to try.”
“Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!”
Kayden chose rock. Emily chose paper. His body crumpled, joining the rest in silent defeat.
Even with Kayden’s luck, he still lost since his luck in Cozy Vacation Life wasn’t absolute. It was similar to how he had lost against the captain of the luxury cruise ship in a coin toss in previous game sessions.
Even if Kayden’s luck looked heaven-defying, it still wasn’t absolute so it was inevitable for a few errors to occur.
Weiss watched as the last of Ayame’s team fell.
The eerie silence that followed was like his game friends had logged out without waiting for his response and it felt kind of annoying.
He knew what he had to do.
The game screen before him displayed the dreaded message:
[GAME OVER!]
[Do you want to try again?]

[Yes] | [No]
Weiss didn’t hesitate. He pressed [Yes], and the world around them shifted and rewound, bringing them back to the moment before they encountered Emily.
When Weiss had just blinked, everything around him returned back to the past and with his deliberate control, Ayame and her team retained their memories from the previous timeline.
Seeing that Ayame and her team were back in top form and Emily hadn’t arrived yet, Weiss sighed as he commented to them, “I have to admit, I was expecting that you’d all fall at this stage. To be honest, I didn’t expect Ayame would take the lead since the best outcome would be for Kayden to take the lead and defeat Emily in rock, paper, scissors.”
“After all, Kayden’s luck would allow him to win rock, paper, scissors with a higher chance than the rest of you. Although, he failed in the end, but with my Game Over Retry Authority, I’ll grant you all unlimited retries.”
Weiss had let them return a few minutes before Emily arrived so it allowed them to chat for a while.
Hearing Weiss’ words, Ayame sighed, “I thought I had a 1/3 chance of winning it so I didn’t mind taking the risk. But I didn’t expect that Emily had rigged it.”
Kayden complained, “Tell me about it, we have eleven guys here who challenged Emily including someone as lucky as I am, yet none of us won even once against her.”
Listening to their complaints, Weiss shook his head, “How can you expect it to be fair? Just so you know, Emily has a 2/3 chance of winning in the game of rock, paper, scissors. That doesn’t mean that she’d lose in the third round, but means that she’d retain the 66.67% chance of winning in every round she plays.”
“And that’s still not including the initial luck value she had. So technically, Emily has approximately a 90% chance of winning. Even some beta testers who challenged her before in order to test Emily’s luck under Aspro’s command had lost at Emily’s hands.”
Hearing Weiss mention Emily’s luck in winning rock, paper, and scissors as well as the loss of the beta testers, Ayame and her team were surprised that Emily rigged the game that far.
After all, the beta testers might be some average guys who just got lucky, but their luck was quite monstrous in the sense that from all ten billion people in Blue Star, ten of them were chosen to beta test Aspro’s games.
Needless to say, they were already convinced of Weiss’ luck since Weiss had played gambling games against Kayden and the boys and he came out on top.
Yet some of the beta testers still had lost against Emily which showed how much Emily rigged the game.
It was literally a game of rock, paper, scissors with only three options of winning so technically, it should have a 1/3 chance of winning per player. But to think that Emily already secured a 90% chance of winning, then wouldn’t they only have 10% left?
Realizing that, Ayame and her team’s expressions turned grim as even Kayden felt like he was cheated.
Kuroneko sighed, “No wonder Emily is one of the successful experiments of Maverick Windesburg. Although, she was still labeled as a failed experiment since she didn’t listen to Maverick Windesburg’s commands. Nonetheless, this went to show how excellent Maverick Windesburg’s attainments in dark magic were.”
