Chapter 269: Retry And Strive To Achieve A Perfect Game Of Tag
As the game continued, Winston used his Mirror Authority to create portals, slipping through them to evade Timothy.
He set up a network of mirrors around the room, using them to teleport himself and others away from Timothy’s reach.
Despite his efforts, he knew they were running out of time.
Ayame, meanwhile, used her Tyrannical Earth Gauntlet to create barriers and obstacles. She smashed through walls, creating debris to block Timothy’s path.
Kenshi joined her, using his Sword Authority to summon a whirlwind of blades that created a makeshift barrier around them.
Kuroneko, with his dark magic, summoned shadow creatures to distract Timothy.
The creatures lunged at Timothy, forcing him to dodge and weave. But not to the point that it would harm or attack Timothy in order to prevent him from breaking the rule and resulting in disqualification.
Ayame’s team coordinated their efforts, using their abilities in tandem to keep Timothy at bay.
“We’re running out of time!” Winston shouted, glancing at his watch.
Timothy’s eyes narrowed. “You think you can win by running away? Let’s see how long you can keep this up.”
Hearing Timothy’s words, ProGamerXD retorted, “Bruh, what do you expect us to do then? Crawl to you? Running is the essence of playing tag.”
Receiving ProGamerXD’s comment, Timothy decided to tag him.
With a final burst of speed, Timothy closed in on ProGamerXD.
Despite his best efforts to evade, Timothy tagged him, and ProGamerXD collapsed, his will bent to Timothy’s.
“Five down,” Timothy said, his voice filled with malevolent glee.
The remaining team members pressed on, their movements becoming more frantic as the minutes ticked by.
They used every trick in their arsenal, but Timothy was relentless.
Just as it seemed all hope was lost, the ten-minute mark approached.
Ayame, Kenshi, Kayden, and Winston managed to stay ahead, their combined efforts keeping Timothy at bay.
“Time’s up,” Ayame said breathlessly, glancing at her watch. “We did it.”
Timothy halted, his form flickering as the game ended.
He looked at Ayame and her remaining team members with a mixture of sadness and relief. “You won,” he said softly. “Thank you.”
As Timothy began to fade, the room brightened, and the oppressive atmosphere lifted.
The ghostly forms of the other children appeared, their faces filled with gratitude.
“You’ve freed us,” Timothy whispered. “Thank you.”
With that, Timothy and the other children vanished, their souls finally at peace.
Ayame and her team stood in the now empty room, catching their breath and reflecting on what they had just accomplished. Despite the losses they had suffered, they knew they had made a difference.
“We did it,” Ayame said, her voice filled with a hint of sadness, “but we still sacrificed some members.”
In response, Weiss assured them, “We can just do a retry. Let’s aim for a perfect run.”
“Although, a perfect run can be achieved if I use my Barrier Authority. But as I said before, I won’t interfere much with your progress in the game.”

Hearing Weiss’ words, they remembered how aggrieved Timothy was when faced with Weiss’ barrier.
If Weiss was impossible to tag due to his invisible barriers, then Timothy hated Winston next. Due to Winston’s Mirror Authority allowing him to slip past him by using the mirrors as portals.
Afterward, while they were inside the Abandoned Nursery, the darkness seemed to fade and the dark miasma had lightened and wasn’t as thick as before.
The souls of the children in the Abandoned Nursery were liberated after they both defeated Emily and Timothy.
However, it cost them the lives of half of their team which was an unbearable loss for them. Even losing one of their team members was a huge loss, let alone half of them.
Even when a white orb of light appeared in the Abandoned Nursery which was the Tag Authority, none of them were interested in getting it since they hadn’t achieved a perfect run yet.
Weiss snapped his fingers, and the familiar screen appeared before them.
[GAME OVER!]
[Do you want to try again?]
[Yes] | [No]
Without hesitation, Weiss selected [Yes], and the world around them blurred and shifted, pulling them back to the moment before the game with Timothy had begun.
They stood once more in the eerie hallway of the Abandoned Nursery, the sounds of children’s laughter echoing around them.
Timothy’s ghostly form materialized before them again, his expression a mix of sorrow and determination.
“We’re back,” Ayame said, taking a deep breath. “This time, let’s work together and make sure no one gets caught.”
The team nodded in agreement, their resolve strengthened by the previous attempts.
“Remember, we have to last ten minutes without getting caught. Use your abilities to support each other,” Weiss reminded them.
Timothy began the game, his form flickering as he prepared to chase them.
The air crackled with tension as the team scattered, but this time, they moved with a coordinated plan.
Winston immediately activated his Eye of Insight and Mirror Authority, setting up a network of mirrors around the room. “I’ll keep an eye on his movements and use the mirrors to give us an edge,” he said.
Ayame, equipped with her Tyrannical Earth Gauntlet, created barriers and obstacles to slow Timothy down. “Let’s use the environment to our advantage,” she suggested.
Kenshi used his Sword Authority to summon a whirlwind of blades, creating a makeshift barrier around them. “This should buy us some time,” he said, his eyes focused on Timothy.
Kuroneko summoned shadow creatures with his dark magic, using them to distract Timothy and create more obstacles in his path. “These shadows will keep him busy,” he said.
As Timothy began his pursuit, the team moved in perfect synchrony.
JordanPlayz invoked his Water Authority to create a thick fog, obscuring Timothy’s vision. He transformed partially into water whenever Timothy got too close, slipping through his grasp.
Timothy, disoriented by the fog, targeted GoldMiner.
GoldMiner used his Midas Authority to turn the ground into gold, creating a reflective surface.
The gold mirrored Timothy’s movements, making it difficult for him to pinpoint GoldMiner’s location.
Despite his best efforts, Timothy managed to close in on GoldMiner.
Just as he was about to tag him, Winston’s Eye of Insight activated, and he shouted, “GoldMiner, now!”
