Chapter 273: The Timekeeper At Phantom Library [1]
Kenshi’s whirlwind of blades protected the team, slicing through the hounds and reducing their numbers.
His movements were precise and deadly, his Sword Authority a blur of motion. “Don’t let up!” he shouted, his voice steady and calm.
Bianca’s Equality Authority continued to level the playing field, making the hounds vulnerable to their attacks. “We’re almost there!” she encouraged, her power surging as she matched the hounds’ strength to hers.
As the minutes ticked by, the team’s relentless assault began to thin the ranks of the Shadow Hounds.
The once overwhelming numbers were now dwindling, their dark forms dissipating into mist with each successful attack.
Kayden, using his Rock Paper Scissors Authority, continued to force the hounds into the death game.
His luck never wavered, ensuring his victory and causing the hounds to disintegrate one by one. “We’re almost through this!” he called out, his voice filled with confidence.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the last of the Shadow Hounds was vanquished.
The hallway fell silent, the oppressive atmosphere lifting slightly as the dark energy began to dissipate.
“We did it,” Ayame said, her voice breathless but triumphant. “We’ve cleared the path.”
The team took a moment to catch their breath, their eyes scanning the now-empty hallway.
Despite the victory, they knew their journey was far from over.
Kuroneko, his grimoire still glowing with dark energy, stepped forward. “This is just the beginning,” he said, his voice low and serious.
“The presence of the Shadow Hounds means the dark miasma is growing stronger. We need to find Maverick Windesburg and put an end to this.”
With renewed determination, the team continued their journey through the luxurious hallway of Windesburg Hotel.
Kayden took the lead once more, flipping his shoe to navigate their path.
The shoe pointed them towards a grand staircase, and they followed its direction, their steps echoing through the empty corridors.
As they ascended the staircase, the air grew colder, and the luxurious decor gave way to a more sinister, foreboding atmosphere.
The walls seemed to close in around them, the shadows growing longer and darker with each step.
Finally, they arrived at a large, ornate door at the top of the staircase. The door was intricately carved with strange symbols and designs, and a sense of unease settled over the team as they approached it.
“This must be it,” Ayame said, her voice hushed. “The Phantom Library.”
Kuroneko nodded, his eyes scanning the door. “According to the book, this is the last forbidden area of the Windesburg Hotel. Inside, we’ll find the tome that outlines Maverick’s descent into madness and his discovery of the island’s cursed power.”
“We also need to be prepared for whatever monster or anomaly might be guarding this place,” Winston added, his Eye of Insight glowing faintly.
Ayame took a deep breath and pushed the door open, revealing the entrance to the Phantom Library.
The room they stepped into was vast and dimly lit, with books floating in mid-air and rearranging themselves. The air was thick with an oppressive silence, and the occasional whisper of ancient secrets seemed to echo through the room.
As they ventured deeper into the library, they noticed some books screamed when opened, while others whispered ancient secrets that sent chills down their spines.
The team decided not to mess with some of them since even Kuroneko who was well versed with Dark Magic dared not touch them. Those whispers seemed to have anomalous properties that polluted the mind so they turned a deaf ear to it.
“The tome we’re looking for is hidden somewhere in here,” Kuroneko said, his eyes scanning the shelves. “It contains spells and incantations that Maverick used to bind the anomalous creatures to the hotel.”
Ayame nodded, her determination unwavering. “Let’s find it and put an end to this.”
As they began their search, a sense of foreboding settled over the team. The Phantom Library was filled with dark magic and secrets, and they knew their journey was far from over.

The oppressive silence was suddenly broken by a low, menacing growl that echoed through the library. The team froze, their eyes scanning the shadows for the source of the sound.
“We’re not alone,” Bianca whispered, her Equality Authority at the ready.
As the growling grew louder, a pair of glowing red eyes emerged from the darkness, followed by the form of a monstrous creature.
The team readied themselves for battle, knowing that this was just the beginning of their confrontation with the dark forces that lurked within the Phantom Library.
With the shadows closing in around them, Ayame and her team prepared to face whatever horrors awaited them in the final forbidden area of the Windesburg Hotel.
As Ayame and her team prepared for battle, the creature emerged fully from the shadows, revealing itself to be a clockwork humanoid with a multitude of gears and cogs visible beneath its translucent skin.
Its eyes glowed with an eerie light, and its movements were precise and mechanical.
Kuroneko’s eyes widened in recognition. “This is the Timekeeper, one of Maverick’s failed experiments. It has the power to manipulate time within the hotel.”
The Timekeeper’s voice echoed through the library, a cold and mechanical tone. “Intruders detected. Initiating protocol: Eradication.”
Without warning, the Timekeeper raised its hand, and the room seemed to warp around them. Suddenly, everything froze.
Ayame and her team were immobilized, unable to move as the Timekeeper approached them with deliberate steps.
“Weiss!” Ayame’s voice echoed in her mind, knowing that only he could help them in this frozen state.
Weiss, sensing the danger, used his Game Over Retry Authority to reverse time to a moment before the Timekeeper had frozen them.
The team found themselves back in their original positions, just before the Timekeeper’s attack.
“We have to be careful,” Weiss warned. “This thing can manipulate time in ways we’ve never encountered before.”
The team nodded, their expressions grim but determined. They spread out, preparing for the Timekeeper’s next move.
The Timekeeper, unperturbed by the reset, moved its hand again, this time accelerating time around Ayame and her team.
Objects blurred, and their movements became sluggish as if they were moving through molasses.
“Focus!” Winston shouted, using his Mirror Authority to create multiple reflections to confuse the Timekeeper.
Ayame, using her Tag Authority, tried to tag the Timekeeper, but it phased out of existence, reappearing behind her.
“Your efforts are futile,” it intoned. “I can see the future and your actions are predictable.”
