Chapter 279: A Month Worth Of Progress In Vacation Paradise Island
A month had passed since Ayame and her team arrived at Vacation Paradise Island. In just three days, they had defeated the Timekeeper and had the option to follow the clues left by Maverick Windesburg to track down his lair for a final boss battle.
However, Weiss suggested they take a training arc to better control their authorities and improve team coordination. Reluctantly, Ayame agreed, deciding not to speedrun the second main objective.
Ayame and her team realized they had been too hasty in their initial approach. While speedrunning was their goal, they acknowledged that “haste makes waste.” Constant fighting left them with little time to fully master their authorities or digest their combat experiences.
Listening to Weiss’s advice proved beneficial. Under his guidance, Weiss became their training instructor and sparring partner. He taught them how to use their authorities more effectively and provided crucial feedback.
Weiss also encouraged them to explore Vacation Paradise Island, preventing tunnel vision that focused solely on Windesburg Hotel. As the Game Developer of Cozy Vacation Life, Weiss knew the true extent of Maverick Windesburg’s power.
If Ayame and her team had faced Maverick Windesburg three and a half weeks ago, they would have lost. Their narrow victory against the Timekeeper was only possible because of Weiss’s heavy assistance through his Game Over Retry Authority. Without it, they would have been defeated.
The Timekeeper was a high-end boss meant to be faced only after meeting several conditions and acquiring specific game items. Ayame and her team, in their haste, were unprepared and were initially beaten badly by the Timekeeper.
It was like a group of level 20 players trying to fight a level 90 late-game boss. They managed to defeat the Timekeeper only by abusing the “save and load” feature of the game.
Cozy Vacation Life was several times more difficult than Zombie Survival Online, yet Ayame and her team tried to speedrun it. This arrogance was driven by the confidence of a group of gamers led by top game streamers Ayame and Bianca.
Weiss was very optimistic about Ayame and her team since they were the top powerhouses of Blue Star on the public side. Conversely, the top powerhouses in the hidden side were Weiss and the other nine beta testers.
Weiss aimed to minimize his intervention in otherworld invasions because he wanted Blue Star to be self-reliant. While it was acceptable for them to use his games to grow stronger, he didn’t want them to depend on him and the beta testers for most problems.
The top five nations had dispatched him to handle issues at Prison Island due to their lack of power. If Blue Star wasn’t his home world, Weiss would have preferred to lay low and spend time with his lover Alice.
To achieve his vision of an independent Blue Star, Weiss knew Ayame and her team needed to be competent and powerful. Thus, he didn’t hesitate to become their training instructor, initiating a three-and-a-half-week training arc.
In total, a month had passed in the game world while only a day had passed in the real world. Fortunately, there were no otherworld invasions during this time, allowing Ayame and her team to train without interruptions.
Even if Ayame and her team were only training, it didn’t diminish the enthusiasm of their live stream viewers.
In Blue Star, there were live streamers who binge ate large amounts of food, and viewers would watch them without getting bored. Similarly, the viewers in Blue Star could easily watch others train with great interest.
For them, watching Ayame and her team train was like watching an anime or a fantasy movie with highly realistic special effects.
Additionally, Ayame and her team were composed of beautiful girls and handsome men.
The live stream viewers were especially captivated by the presence of Weiss, the training instructor, along with Kayden, Kenshi, Kuroneko, and others who were as attractive as idols in a boy group. Seeing them sweat, show off their power, and display their masculinity incited endless sexual fantasies among the female viewers.
Ayame and her team were filled with eye candy; none of them were unattractive. As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. Not only was their team very powerful, but their charm value was also extremely high.
Even if the otherworld invasion hadn’t occurred and Weiss hadn’t developed games whose power and items could be brought to reality, Ayame and her team could easily debut in the entertainment industry.
Not only did Weiss teach them how to control their authorities, but he also led them to find additional authorities that were beneficial and suitable for their usage.
For example, Kenshi obtained the Cut Authority, which allowed him to imbue any weapon with its power. With the Cut Authority, Kenshi could cut anything, whether it was the body, soul, or even the luck of someone.
Though cutting conceptual things like luck was still out of his reach, Kenshi had already mastered cutting the body and soul. This new authority synergized perfectly with his Sword Authority, elevating his swordsmanship to another level.
On the other hand, Bianca obtained the Exchange Authority, a rule-type authority that allowed her to exchange things on a conceptual level. This could include positions, equipment, and weapons, providing a strategic advantage.
Moreover, when used alongside her Equality Authority, Bianca could perform what she called the “Law of Equivalent Exchange.” As long as she had enough energy to balance the inequality of the exchange, she could make it equal.
For example, she could temporarily exchange her speed with the Timekeeper’s time manipulation, provided she had enough energy.
This combination of authorities made Bianca exceptionally versatile and powerful in combat.
Furthermore, Kuroneko had finally obtained an authority. Although it wasn’t the Dark Authority he initially desired, he acquired the Shadow Authority, which allowed him to create and control shadows.
This authority suited Kuroneko perfectly, especially since he also possessed the Shadow Cloak game item. Despite not obtaining the Dark Authority, Kuroneko was very satisfied with the Shadow Authority.

Seeing the significant progress made by Ayame and her team, Weiss nodded in acknowledgment. He thought, “Ayame and her team are finally powerful enough to deal with Maverick Windesburg.”
