Chapter 290: Storm Before The Even Bigger Storm
“I’ve done it!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with triumph. “The power of the Outer Gods is mine! This island, this entire realm—soon, it will all be under my control!”
With a wave of his hand, the glowing runes on the floor flared brighter, sending shockwaves of dark energy rippling across the island.
He could feel the connection forming between him and the corrupted creatures that now roamed Vacation Paradise Island, their minds bound to his will.
“Arise, my servants!” he commanded, his voice resonating with an authority that brooked no defiance. “Head to the Windesburg Hotel. Destroy everything in your path. Crush those fools who dared to defy me!”
He sneered, his thoughts turning to Ayame and her team. “They think they’ve won, that they’ve taken my hotel. But they’ve only borrowed it temporarily. Now that my power has reached a new level, I’ll take back what’s mine—and they’ll pay dearly, with interest!”
The ground outside trembled as the corrupted monsters began their march, driven by Maverick’s command. Their twisted forms moved with an unnatural speed and ferocity, their minds singularly focused on one objective: the destruction of Ayame and her team.
Maverick stepped out of the hut, his form dissolving into the shadows as he prepared to lead his monstrous army into battle.
The island itself seemed to respond to his presence, the air growing heavy with the oppressive weight of his dark power. His reign of terror had only just begun.
…
As the last of the shadows from the thatched hut faded into the dense mist of the island, the oppressive darkness left in its wake began to spread.
The ground trembled slightly as if the very island was responding to the presence of a new force—something darker, more malevolent than anything that had been seen before.
The sky, once a soft blue, was now perpetually tinged with an eerie, unnatural hue, as though the sun itself had been tainted by the power of the Outer Gods.
The trees twisted into grotesque shapes, their branches clawing at the sky like the fingers of some desperate, long-forgotten creature.
The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the sound of distant, otherworldly wails echoed through the once peaceful island.
Ayame stood on the balcony of the Windesburg Hotel, her eyes scanning the horizon. The once-beautiful landscape of the Vacation Paradise Island had been fully corrupted by the Outer God’s influence.
The changes that had started two months ago had worsened, transforming the island into a nightmarish realm. It was as though the land itself had become a living, breathing extension of the Outer Gods’ will, a twisted reflection of their dark power.
‘This place… it’s like a whole different world now,’ Ayame thought, her gaze hardening.
The transformation of the island was far more severe than anything they had faced before. The monsters they had fought were nothing compared to the horrors that now roamed the corrupted land.
The ground beneath the hotel shifted unnaturally, pulsing with a dark energy that seemed to emanate from the depths of the island.
The once-pleasant breeze had turned into a chilling wind, carrying with it whispers of madness and despair. The trees surrounding the hotel had grown wild and twisted, their leaves a sickly shade of black, their trunks oozing with a dark, viscous liquid.
Suddenly, a low, guttural growl broke the silence. Ayame and her team snapped to attention, their hands instinctively reaching for their weapons.
Out of the twisted forest emerged a pack of grotesque creatures, their forms barely recognizable as anything that once lived.
These monsters were unlike anything they had encountered before—horrifying amalgamations of flesh, bone, and shadow, with writhing tentacles protruding from their bodies and eyes that glowed with an unnatural, sickly light.
They moved with an eerie, fluid grace, as though the very air parted to allow them passage. Their presence alone was enough to make the ground tremble and the air grow thick with malice.
“We’ve got company,” Kenshi muttered, his sword gleaming as he readied himself for battle.
The creatures lunged forward, their grotesque forms moving with an unnatural speed and agility. Ayame, always quick to react, activated her Tag Authority, slipping into her incorporeal form as she darted toward the nearest monster.
She moved like a wraith, her hand glowing as she attempted to tag the beast. But the creature, seemingly aware of her presence, twisted its body in an impossible way, evading her touch with a grace that belied its horrific appearance.
Kayden, his Rock Paper Scissors Authority at the ready, locked eyes with one of the monsters. “Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!” he called out, forcing the creature into the death game.
The monster hesitated, its tentacles writhing and it struggled as its tentacles forced to transform into a hand to play with Kayden. Kayden’s luck held strong and he emerged victorious, the creature disintegrating into a cloud of dark mist with a pained screech.
Kenshi, wielding his Sword Authority and the Sword of Time, charged at a group of the beasts. His blade cut through the air with a sharp, metallic hiss, severing limbs and tentacles with deadly precision.

The Sword of Time protected him from the creatures’ attacks as he used its time abilities, allowing him to move freely through the chaos of battle.
One of the creatures attempted to wrap its tentacles around him, but Kenshi’s blade flashed, cutting through the darkness with a brilliant arc of light, leaving the monster writhing in agony before it collapsed into a heap of twisted flesh.
Kuroneko, sensing the growing darkness, invoked his Shadow Authority, creating a shadow realm overlaying the battlefield.
The shadows around them deepened, becoming a tangible force that wrapped around the monsters, slowing their movements and binding them in place.
He followed up with a powerful dark magic spell, “Dark Magic: Abyssal Chains!” which sent tendrils of darkness shooting from the ground to ensnare the creatures.
The monsters shrieked in fury, their bodies contorting violently as they tried to break free, but Kuroneko’s spell held firm.
Bianca, understanding the need for strategy, used her Exchange Authority to swap places with one of the creatures, throwing it off balance and allowing Ayame to close in for the kill.
The monster, disoriented by the sudden shift, stumbled into Kenshi’s path, where it was quickly dispatched by a swift strike from his blade.
GoldMiner, standing at the rear, activated his Midas Authority, causing golden spikes to erupt from the ground, impaling several monsters at once.
GoldMiner shouted, turning one of the creatures into a solid gold statue, “Midas’ Gaze!”
