Chapter 79: Aspro, The God Of Games
“And here I am, I became your system spirit.”
“As for the details of my deal with the Limitless Ruler, I can’t disclose it, sorry.”
Hearing Alice’s apology, Weiss patted her head and smiled, “No need to apologize. As long as that Limitless Ruler didn’t force and coerce you, I won’t mind. Furthermore, a deal with a higher existence must have strict confidentiality so I won’t ask about it until I’m strong.”
“Only with power, I can protect you from them.”
Faced with Weiss’ understanding as well as conviction to protect her, Alice was moved. She couldn’t help but kiss Weiss and when she was about to make love with him again, Weiss stopped her.
“As much as I want to do it again, I already received a message from the system that Winston requested an audience with me.”
“We already did it anyway so I have to focus on my work now.”
Receiving Weiss’ rejection, Alice pouted and taunted him, “Just admit it. You are too exhausted to make it hard and stand up again.”
Hearing Alice questioning his stamina, Weiss looked indifferently at her, “I know you are taunting me and it won’t work. My stamina can allow me to go on for as long as my viral energy lasts.”
Alice protested after hearing Weiss’ claim, “Lies! Prove it to me! Do me!”
Seeing Alice so thirsty, Weiss sighed and he knew that it must have been difficult for her to hold on for this long. After all, Alice traveled the multiverse for a hundred million years just to find him while maintaining her purity.
Although Weiss was confident in his looks, he still had to admit that he wasn’t the most handsome if the entire infinite realities were to create a ranking. So it was likely that Alice had already met someone more handsome than him yet she still didn’t go with that person but chose him instead.
Knowing Alice’s love and dedication to him, Weiss sighed and finally conceded, “Fine, I’ll do you.”
“It’s the least I can do for letting you wait that long.”
Hearing Weiss’ acquiescence, Alice was euphoric as she immediately hugged and kissed him.
On the other hand, Weiss immediately transferred a part of his power to Zombie Survival Online’s Server 4 and created a controllable clone.
Anyway, he wanted to spend more time with Alice, but he also knew that he needed to deal with his work. So he decided to multi-task and do both.
…
—Zombie Survival Online, Server 4—
While Winston was drinking coffee, he noticed that the zombies outside had disappeared. Not only that, all of the NPCs in the skyscraper had disappeared out of thin air.
Even Lex who was drinking coffee in front of him had disappeared.
All of this happened after Winston contacted the game AI and requested it to relay his message to Aspro.
“Sure enough, the server is about to be reset.”
“If not for my upcoming meeting with Aspro, I’d probably disappear like them and return to where I previously was with no memories of what had happened.”
“Even VIRUS had already disappeared from his bioreactor chamber. Even the powerful ETERNITY is not much different from VIRUS. No matter how powerful they are, they can’t defeat or surpass the Game Dev.”
“Even those special event NPCs and the game AI who both had admin authorities couldn’t do whatever they wanted and wantonly abused their authorities. All our lives are under Aspro’s control and only after I become real that I’ll truly become an independent existence.”
Muttering those words, Winston sipped his coffee and sighed.
Winston didn’t have any plans of going against his creator. He didn’t even have any lofty ambitions of becoming a god or becoming the strongest.
Winston just wanted to be free. Free from this damn cycle.
If he wasn’t aware that this was a game world and he wasn’t a special NPC, Winston wouldn’t mind. Since, like those NPCs, they all lived in ignorance that the world is a game.

The average NPC believed that they were as human as the other players. They don’t even know that players exist since in their perspective, the players are humans like them.
On the other hand, Special NPCs had varying degrees of self-awareness. As a guide, Winston had probably more self-awareness than Robert but he didn’t have as much knowledge about the world as Robert does.
That’s why, it was only until Ayame and Bianca discovered the secret of the zombie virus that Winston also got to know about it.
Otherwise, it would be too cheating if he already knew the secret of the zombie virus. If that was the case, he could indirectly reveal it to those players.
In terms of self-awareness, Winston was comparable to a player. Like how a player knew they were in a game world and wouldn’t truly die if they died, the same went for Winston since he knew that if he died, he would still be resurrected but with no memories.
Because of that, he was stuck in a vicious cycle where he woke up and had no memories of the previous game session. Yet he would then doubt whether it was his first time or already the thousandth time that he experienced it.
But now, Winston didn’t have to worry about it since he already fulfilled his role.
“As long as Aspro kept his words, then I can finally break free from this damn cycle. I just want to be free and not have to worry about this shit.”
“Although, if I leave, then a special NPC would be created to replace me but that’s no longer my problem.”
While Winston was having those thoughts, he soon felt someone’s presence in his room.
Looking behind him, Winston saw a man wearing a black hoodie with golden outlines and a white undershirt.
The man had a pure white hair but he didn’t have any facial features. Only a mouth was present in the man’s face and the eyes, nose, etc., were nowhere to be seen.
“It’s our first meeting, Winston.”
“I am Aspro, the God of Games.”
