Chapter 398: Blending In
At the same time, deep inside the Purple Crest Immortal Sect, a young man burst into an ancient building like he was being chased by death itself. The jade token at his waist flickered like mad, tearing through layer after layer of protective barriers without slowing down.

“Ancestor! It’s terrible—something awful has happened! Uncle Tianlin and Uncle Tianxin’s Life Tablets shattered almost at the same time!”

He finally reached a quiet chamber, where an old man in black robes sat motionless. His hair was snow white, his eyes closed, calm as still water.

This was Sun Xiangyuan—the Sun Clan’s most feared elder and a powerhouse at the Nirvana Cleansing realm.

“What did you just say?” The old man’s eyes snapped open, sharp and full of disbelief. “Their Life Tablets shattered? Both of them? That doesn’t make sense! Tianlin just returned to the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star, didn’t he? And wasn’t Tianxin supposed to go meet him?”

“I don’t know how it happened!” the young man cried out. “But it’s real—both Life Tablets are gone. Shattered! And it’s not just them, Ancestor… All the young elites and key clan members who went with Uncle Tianlin… they’re all dead too!”

He dropped to his knees, face twisted with fear and grief.

“Do you know who did this?” Sun Xiangyuan asked, his voice low and dangerous. His eyes had gone ice-cold, every word sharp enough to cut.

“I swear, I have no idea!” the young man stammered. “I was watching the Life Pagoda like I always do. Then suddenly, boom—so many Life Tablets just crumbled all at once! I—I couldn’t believe it… I still can’t…”

His whole body trembled as he broke down in sobs.

“Someone dared to butcher my Sun Clan like this…” Sun Xiangyuan growled, fury simmering in his chest. “I don’t care who you are. I’ll hunt you down. I’ll make you pay a thousand times over!”

His killing intent exploded outward like a violent storm, shaking the very air. The young man collapsed to the floor, crushed by the sheer pressure of it.

Without another word, Sun Xiangyuan closed his eyes and stretched out his divine sense—searching across sixty million kilometers of land, his mind scanning every corner of the vast region.

And just then, more news hit him like a hammer: the deaths of Sun Tianlin and the others had already spread. The entire region was buzzing with it.

The top figures on the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star quickly realized something big had happened inside the Sun Clan—two of their mighty Nirvana Peering realm experts had been killed.

And it didn’t take long for that news to spread.

The ones who leaked it were, of course, from the Compassionate Sword Immortal Palace. They wasted no time using this disaster to hurt their longtime rivals, the Purple Crest Immortal Sect. Losing two powerhouses like that was a massive blow, and their enemies weren’t about to let it go to waste.

Meanwhile, chaos had erupted within the Sun Clan. People were panicking. No one could believe it—Sun Tianlin and the others, all gone.

To make things worse, a new rumor was spreading fast across the entire star: Sun Tianlin had actually lost a major battle on the Immortal Martial Continent, then panicked and made a deal with demons to save his own life. Word was, he’d helped a terrifying Nirvana Cleansing-level demon sneak onto the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star.

The idea caught fire almost instantly.

People were calling Sun Tianlin a coward. A traitor. Someone who sold out his own clan to stay alive.

“Damn it!” Sun Xiangyuan snarled, fists clenched so tight his veins bulged.

He wasted no time. Using his divine sense, he contacted the Sun Clan’s top intelligence officer—someone at the Transcendence realm—and quickly gathered more details.

That’s when things started to look even worse.

It turned out Sun Tianlin had brought the entire cultivator army back with him, leaving no one behind to guard the Immortal Martial Continent. Then, right after arriving, he ordered the army to scatter and dropped the barrier around the underground palace. That allowed a flood of people to pour out.

All of it looked suspicious. Like maybe he had been forced into something by the demons.

Even Sun Xiangyuan started to waver.

Could Tianlin really have betrayed us? Brought this disaster down on his own people? His face darkened, torn between fury and sorrow.

Still, no matter what he thought, he had a duty to uphold.

He had to find out who killed Sun Tianlin—and make them pay. If he didn’t, the Sun Clan would lose even more face, and the Purple Crest Immortal Sect’s reputation would take a hit it couldn’t afford.

So, without hesitation, Sun Xiangyuan activated the full power of the sect’s intelligence network to pinpoint where the deaths had happened.

“It’s near the underground palace—right where the spatial channel to the Immortal Martial Continent is,” he muttered once the location came in.

And just like that, he vanished, shooting through the sky like a black streak of vengeance, headed straight for the scene of the slaughter.

…

Meanwhile, Jiang Chen—the one responsible for all the chaos—was already flying away at high speed. He used the power of his Nine Pointed Radiant Star Ring to put as much distance as possible between himself and the scene of the slaughter.

Before long, he arrived near a large city and came to a stop. It wasn’t too far from where the battle had taken place.

But that was exactly the point.

Thanks to the unmatched stealth abilities of his Death Calamity Dark Star Moon Dao Embryo Bloodline, Jiang Chen wasn’t worried about getting caught. In fact, he believed in the old saying: ‘Sometimes, the most dangerous place is the safest.’

“Golden Cirrus City, huh? Not bad,” Jiang Chen muttered as he landed just outside the city.

He spread out his divine sense, scanning the area. In just a few moments, he had a clear picture of the city.

Golden Cirrus City belonged to the Purple Crest Immortal Sect. It wasn’t small either—three Transcendence realm experts called this place home.

As Jiang Chen strolled through the streets, acting like any other traveler, the first thing that struck him was how lively everything was. The city was packed with people.

It made sense. Unlike the Immortal Martial Continent—which was made up of many connected heavenly bodies—the Prosperous Stone Immortal Star was much smaller. That meant more people packed into fewer places.

His next thought? The Spiritual Qi here is amazing.

The whole city was surrounded by a massive Spirit Gathering Array, a formation that pulled in energy from far and wide.

The Prosperous Stone Immortal Star was naturally rich in Spiritual Qi—way more than the Immortal Martial Continent. And with powerful formations drawing all that energy into a single city, it wasn’t hard to imagine just how thick the Spiritual Qi could get.

Cultivating here felt different. The Spiritual Qi didn’t just trickle in—it rushed into your body like it couldn’t wait to help you grow stronger. It made training faster, smoother, and way more effective.

As Jiang Chen walked through Golden Cirrus City, he could feel it for himself. The cultivation environment here was solid—more than enough to raise someone to the Nirvana Peering realm.

Still, he knew there were even better places on this star. The top-tier spots—the ones overflowing with Spiritual Qi—were where the real geniuses went to train. That’s where the future powerhouses of this world would be honing their skills.

I’ll stay here for a while, Jiang Chen thought to himself as he strolled through the busy streets, Get a feel for this new place before making any big moves.

But he wasn’t just walking around for fun—he was here to shop.

Since coming over from the Immortal Martial Continent, he had wiped out a bunch of enemies and gathered a mountain of spirit stones. Golden Cirrus City seemed like a decent place to spend some of that wealth and see what useful things he could pick up.

Sure enough, as he explored the market streets, Jiang Chen found plenty of treasures. What he really needed were spiritual plants—and this place had them in spades.

In Golden Cirrus City, spiritual materials for Transcendence realm cultivators were in high demand—but they weren’t outrageously expensive. They just cost a bit more. And for someone like Jiang Chen, who had plenty of spirit stones to burn, there was no shortage of high-quality Transcendence-level spiritual plants to choose from.

Even though Jiang Chen was already at the Middle-stage of the Nirvana Peering realm, these plants were still useful to him. And if he didn’t need them personally, he could always give them to his people. With how much money he had piled up, it made sense to start spending some of it.

He turned off his invisibility, but didn’t walk around openly as himself. Instead, he kept his aura hidden and used a low-key disguise before hitting the markets.

It didn’t take long before he filled his storage ring with all kinds of spiritual plants. On top of that, he picked up a solid supply of pills—mostly ones used to recover Origin Power.

He also grabbed some high-grade pills for boosting cultivation and strengthening the body—gifts for his trusted followers. As for the really rare and powerful pills from the System Mall? Those were saved just for his wives.

After stocking up on pills and spiritual plants, Jiang Chen started looking for materials to enhance his Silver Immortal Sword. The sword had its own spiritual awareness and would subtly signal him whenever it sensed something useful nearby.

But even with a wide selection, the sword was on a level of its own. After searching all over the city, Jiang Chen only managed to find a dozen or so Transcendence-level refining materials that met the sword’s high standards.

Still, luck seemed to be on his side.

Throughout his shopping spree, Jiang Chen kept stumbling across underpriced treasures. His best find was a Nirvana Peering-level spiritual plant sold for next to nothing—an unbelievable bargain.

That kind of fortune wasn’t random.

It was all thanks to his high Black Heavenly Fate Value, quietly tipping the odds in his favor at every turn.
