Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe - Chapter 640
Chapter 640: Bottom Line
The large briefing room inside the warehouse was the designated space where the members of the Twilight Brotherhood in Ravenfell received instructions, updates, or strategic intel before carrying out a task or a mission.
Due to the great importance placed on the mission being carried out in Ravenfell, the clandestine organization had sent dozens of Acolytes—Rank 1 Magi—to the city over the months.
As for the Rank 2 Magi known as Agents, they consisted of Adam, Daneli, Liriel, Kael, and finally the handler for the region, Elrick.
The more powerful members of the Brotherhood had not been sent. Not yet, anyway. After all, the visit of an unknown Mana Vortex Magus in Ravenfell would garner a lot of unwanted attention. That was not how the Brotherhood operated.
After being given a brief tour of the warehouse by Liriel, Adam was brought to the briefing room where all the members present had gathered.
He cast a glance at all the Acolytes nervously standing in the room and muttered in slight surprise, “There’s quite a lot of you here.”
“They’re being sent in batches every month,” said Liriel. “Naturally, only the best of the best from all over the continent have been handpicked for this mission.”
“Best of the best, eh?” Adam spoke with a raise of his eyebrow.
“The mission here at Ravenfall is the single most important mission in this entire continent,” said the silver-haired elf with a serious expression.
Adam deeply looked at her for a moment before nodding. Everyone inside the briefing room gathered around the large table at the center where a detailed map of Ravenfell was spread out for a strategic overview.
He looked at the various markers on the map, some indicating the locations for supply drops, others depicting the areas where other smaller secret bases had been built over the last year and a half.
“Not bad,” he praised. “Looks like a lot has been done while I was gone.” He then looked at Liriel and asked, “What’s the current situation looking like?”
Liriel gestured to an Acolyte beside her and he took out two scrolls, handing them to the elf. She then unfurled the scrolls on the table, one of them having detailed information about the Duskfall Family, while the other scroll revealed the details the Brotherhood had gathered on the Red Fists.
When Adam’s gaze landed on the intel inscribed on the scroll regarding the Duskfall Family, his eyes narrowed. Putting two and two together, he ventured a guess, “So this is the connection to Ravenfell’s nobility that we were looking for.”
“Indeed.” Liriel nodded with a solemn expression. “However, the Duskfall Family is too far down the ladder. They are but a Viscount Family. I’m sure someone is backing them. Someone far more influential.”
Adam started to stroke his chin as a solemn expression appeared on his face. “Yes, or else it would be very difficult to keep the city’s attention away from the things happening in the Corvid Quarter.”
He looked at Liriel and asked, “So what have you found out about them?”
“The Red Fists are secretly dealing in human trafficking,” Liriel spoke with a disgusted and enraged look in her eyes. “Thanks to Kael, we were able to find shipping manifestos that tied a shell company to several stores in the Corvid Quarter.”
“And this shell company leaves a trail, connecting them to the Duskfall Family?” Adam asked.
“Precisely.” Liriel nodded. “Through a few pleasure houses and other stores that are secretly operating as pleasure houses, many women are being secretly trafficked. The method of transportation and the routes they’re taking is still unknown.”
Adam’s eyes narrowed when he heard the elf’s report. He couldn’t help but ask as he thought of a grim possibility, “These women… could they be virgins?”
Liriel looked at the raven-haired youth for a long time before nodding. “Most of them, yes.”
“Then that means…”
“Yes,” Liriel affirmed, her eyes flashing with sorrow but also rage. “This matches the Cult of Bones’ method of operations. We believe they’re using these helpless women as live sacrifices for bloody rituals.”
At once, a somber atmosphere descended upon the briefing room. The look of anger and loathing couldn’t be hidden from the faces of all those present.
This ancient organization, the Twilight Brotherhood, was an alliance of Magi founded for the primary reason of maintaining peace and balance in this world.
Their number one objective was to eliminate tyranny across Tron. As a result, their enemies became all those Magi who used the gift of magic for evil deeds.
What was currently happening in the undercurrents of Ravenfell had truly touched the Brotherhood’s bottom line. Innocent civilians who didn’t practice magic were being sacrificed by an evil cult that they’d been at war with for a long time.
Outrageous! Unpardonable! Intolerable!
Compared to the other Magi in the room, Adam had a stoic expression on his face. No doubt, this discovery greatly bothered him but he didn’t let it affect him all that much.

He realized that having lived for more than 250 years inside the illusion had tempered him to a great extent. He learned that he had now gained the ability to domesticate his emotions—for most situations, at least.
“So we’ve connected the Red Fists to the Ravenfell nobility,” said Adam. “Also, we’ve more or less confirmed that the Cult is involved in the human trafficking. Now, all we need is solid evidence.”
“The Duskfall Family is holding a masquerade ball next week at their estate,” Liriel added.
“Oh!” Adam’s eyes lit up. “That’s perfect.”
“It’s a couples-only event,” the silver-haired elf replied. “I’ll be attending it with Daneli. That means you need to find a plus-one if you wish to attend. On the other hand, Kael will be supporting us from the shadows.”
Adam’s eye twitched ever so slightly. “I’ll… figure something out.” He then looked at the detailed map of Ravenfell and asked, “You mentioned not being able to track their transport route, yes?”
“Indeed.” Liriel nodded with a helpless expression. “It’s like they’re simply vanishing. And I’ve used other means to confirm that they’re not teleporting all the women across the city.”
“I see,” Adam hummed as he stroked his chin, thinking back to the fight he’d had with the Umbra Thieves right underneath the city a few years ago.
He looked at Liriel and then at Kael, his lips curling up into a faint smirk. “Have you explored the underground tunnel network that spans the entire city?”
