Chapter 677: Bear Witness
On the order of the Lord Marshall, the armed forces of Ravenfell—all of whom were Mana Liquefaction Magi—quickly entered through the secret passageway that led to the underground prison.
A few minutes later, one of them emerged from the door and walked toward Sabrina Benton with a grave look on his face. The man had an expression of disbelief, anger, and pity.
“My Lady,” he began, trying to find the right words to speak. “There are over a hundred women inside, all of them imprisoned behind bars. Although they seem to be physically healthy, I can’t say the same for their state of mind…”
The man paused for a moment before adding with slight unease, “It would appear that they have been under the effects of mind-numbing drugs for extended periods of time.”
Sabrina turned her gaze toward Daneli and stated, “It would appear that your claims were not false, young elf.”
“I dare not lie to the Lord Marshall,” Daneli spoke with a slight bow, pressing his hand on his chest.
Sabrina then shifted her gaze to Adam. “So, young magus, where are the people responsible for the abduction of all those innocent women?”
Towards the end, her eyes darted towards the corpses of the fourteen cultists behind Adam.
“They are dead, my lady,” Adam answered truthfully.
“I can see that,” Sabrina coldly stated. “Two beheaded, two stabbed, nine impaled, and the last one… he seems to have died the most gruesome death of them all. This looks like the handy work of a demon, rather than a human.”
She paused for a moment and asked in an authoritative voice, “Tell me, young magus, were you the one to kill them all?”
“…I had no other choice, my lady,” Adam answered after a brief pause. “It was either them or me.”
Sabrina deeply looked at the raven-haired youth. To say that she was shocked would be an understatement. At the same time, she also didn’t think he was lying. There were plenty of eyewitnesses around, after all.
“Which department?” She asked.
Adam was puzzled for a moment before answering, “School of Summoning.”
“I see.” Sabrina nodded. “Mathilda, then.”
Right at that moment, one of the Magi working for her approached her from the other side of the sacrificial pool. “My Lady, ready to report!”
“Hmm.” Sabrina Benton hummed, her eyes closed.
“Fifteen other Magi are present here,” the Magus began. “Fourteen of them were guests personally invited by the Duskfall Couple. They consist of merchants and nobles. The fifteenth Magus is Qamara Feno. And as for the Duskfall couple, they have disappeared.”
“Qamara Feno?” Sabrina opened her eyes. “What is she doing here?”
“She was brave enough to help me bring justice to the innocent women who have been sacrificed by these depraved people,” Adam spoke in a righteous tone.
Sabrina looked at him with narrowed eyes. “I’ll ask her that myself.”
“My Lady,” Adam called out.
“What is it?”
“The other guests inside this chamber… All of them were proactively involved in this sacrificial ritual where they offered helpless and innocent women to a very evil entity—a devil. All of them deserve death!”
Sabrina’s eyes narrowed even further. “That is for me to decide.”
A few moments later, the group of Magi who had been fighting zombies on the other side arrived near Adam and the rest.
“Lord Marshall!”
“Lady Benton, thank you!”
“Thank you for saving us!”

The group of Magi burst into cheers and were ecstatic after witnessing Sabrina Benton and the armed forces of Ravenfell. However, Sabrina did not share the same sentiments as them.
She coldly looked at them, not even bothering to mask the disgust on her face. Then, she simply pointed her finger towards them.
Rank 2 Spell: Earthen Bind!
Yellow particles rose from the ground and magically hovered around those Magi. In a split second, the mana particles transmuted into earth, effectively handcuffing all the Magi’s hands.
The Magi were shocked by this sudden turn of events. They thought their savior had arrived, but they couldn’t be further from the truth.
One of the Magi, a Baron, couldn’t help but protest in indignation, “Lady Benton, what is the meaning of this?! I am a noble Baron! You cannot do this to—”
His words got caught in his throat when one of the black armored Magi working under Sabrina grabbed his head and smashed him to the ground.
“How dare you talk back to the Lord Marshall?” The armored Magus coldly stated. “Your titles mean nothing. In this city, the Grand Duchess is the judge, jury, and executioner!”
Sabrina ordered her men, “Take them to the surface. We will question each and every one of them. After gathering all the facts I shall deliver my final judgement.”
“Yes, my lady!” The few armored Magi forcefully grabbed the guests and took them upstairs.
On their way to the surface, many of the cuffed Magi complained about how it was unfair that Qamara and Adam were not being detained, especially Adam who was the main guest of honor at the masquerade ball.
Sabrina Benton then coldly looked at Adam and stated, “You better have an explanation, young magus, or your fate will be no different from theirs.”
“My lady, everything I’ve done, I’ve done for the well-being of Ravenfell,” Adam spoke respectfully. “While I know that it can be difficult to trust my words, I can assure you that they are the truth.”
Before Sabrina or any of the armored Magi could speak a word, Adam pointed toward Qamara, “If you do not believe me, you may ask her. She has fought alongside me since the beginning, my lady. She can bear witness to my actions.”
While everyone shifted their attention towards Qamara, the person in question was looking at someone else with a dumbfounded expression, completely ignoring everyone else.
She looked at the blond elf standing beside Adam and asked in a daze, “Daneli, you… you are alive?”
Daneli looked at her with a frown, wondering what a stupid question that was. He then shifted his gaze to Adam who had a deadpan expression on his face.
Finally, he looked back at Qamara and said awkwardly, “I… never actually died, though?”
