Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe - Chapter 685
Chapter 685: Homeless
Adam stood victorious, bathed in the light of the twin moons. Blood dripped from practically every part of his body, yet there was a sharp glint in his eyes.
It’s finally over…
He had carefully planned the entire event. Furthermore, he had a feeling that the Rank 3 Magus running the cult’s operations would attack him tonight. Call it instincts, if you will.
That’s why he had pretended to run out of mana after Duskfall Masquerade, giving enough confidence to his attacker.
But who would have thought? He would actually deem me as a threat to the cult?
Adam glanced at the lifeless body of Olin. He admired the man for having the foresight. Olin was a very cautious man. However, in the end, it was his arrogance that led to his downfall.
All the enemies that Adam faced in his life looked down upon him because he was weaker than them. This allowed him to turn the tables on them.
He was once again reminded never to underestimate an enemy—even if they were a mortal!
The youth suddenly raised his head, his eyes squinting as he looked into the distance. He couldn’t help but sneer when he sensed a large group of people approaching.
You bastards arrive when everything’s over.
His gaze then shifted to Olin’s corpse that lay at his feet. There were no physical wounds on the man. Adam had never been able to scratch the hems of his clothes thanks to all the undead creatures guarding him.
It would appear very suspicious that a Rank 3 Magus died without any physical wounds. After all, soul-related attacks were extremely rare. Moreover, they were highly coveted.
Adam’s eyes flashed with ruthlessness and he bent over and placed four fingers over Olin’s chest. Then, he followed through with a devastating one-inch punch.
Hand of Doom: One hit!
His fist pierced through the robust body of the Rank 3 necromancer, leaving behind a gaping hole that dripped with blood that was still warm.
Adam’s eyes squinted ever so slightly, and the next moment he conjured Nighthollow and stabbed the dagger straight through the side of Olin’s head.
That one’s for good measure, he thought.
After ensuring that nothing looked suspicious, he then glanced around his manor where the battle had taken place.
His lips couldn’t help but curl up into a bitter smile. He had invested so much time, money, and effort into building this house. Yet, now it lay in ruin.
He couldn’t blame anyone but himself for this. After all, it was him who chose to make this place the battlefield. It couldn’t be helped. The runes that he’d carved all over the house provided him with great versatility. It’s what allowed him to ultimately kill Olin.
I can’t complain… Thankfully, I have more than enough money to rebuild the house. And while I’m at it, I’ll buy the surrounding properties and expand the manor.
He then conjured a clay gourd that contained wine, and a crystal bottle that contained a potent healing potion. He first drank the healing potion, and then immediately after started drinking the wine.
“Puah!” He felt refreshed. “A bottle of wine straight after battle hits the spot!”
As he walked through the rubble, he conjured one healing potion after another—consuming some of them, while pouring the rest on his external wounds. The flesh golem was unexpected and it really did a number on him.
He arrived at a large portion of a destroyed wall. He effortlessly lifted it and gazed at the staircase that descended to the storage room. He couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the underground storage room was unharmed.
After all, the storage room had a secret entrance that led to his laboratory. And his laboratory contained a secret entrance that directly led to his personal vault under Saratoga!
After ensuring that the most valuable place in his manor was undamaged, his shoulders finally relaxed. He sat down on a nearby boulder that once used to be a pillar that supported his home.
He took a large sip of the wine, glancing at Selene and Luna, and mocking himself, “I’m homeless…”
By now, the armed forces had already arrived and made a perimeter around Adam’s manor—or what remained of it, anyway. Most of them began interviewing the neighbours, asking them about what had just transpired.
A lot of people had gathered in front of the youth’s manor, drawn by the sound of intense fighting.

The six councilors entered Adam’s property, walking through the dust and rubble. When they saw the corpses of skeleton soldiers and zombies strewn all over the place, their expressions became grave.
“What happened here?” Hammon McLeod couldn’t help but ask nervously. “So many undead…”
He then looked toward Sabrina Benton and asked, “Councilor Benton, could this be the work of that Cult?”
Sabrina remained silent, her expression unreadable. For now, her gaze was fixed on the bloodied youth who sat on the boulder in the near distance, sipping wine and stargazing.
Is this all his doing? She couldn’t help but come to that conclusion.
Suddenly, she saw Ives Ballard stride towards Adam in the distance while roaring at the top of his lungs, “You wicked boy! How dare you cause such mayhem in my city?!”
Adam turned his head and gazed at the blond old man in amusement. “Your city?”
Talon Norwood arrived beside Ives Ballard, gazing at Adam with a frosty look. “Boy, get on your feet. You are in the presence of the Councilors of Ravenfell.”
Adam couldn’t help but grit his teeth. He had gone through so much trouble the whole night, took care of an evil organization that was a threat to the city, and even killed a Rank 3 Magus.
Yet, this was how he was being treated? He was overcome by rage and indignation.
However, in the end, he took a deep breath and controlled his emotions. It would be unwise to react negatively. He continued to sip from the wine, gazing at the twin moons silently.
Being ignored by a brat, the two old councilors were enraged. But before they could speak another word, Nylian Feno arrived before them, indicating them to remain silent.
The elf then looked at Adam and asked, “Magus Constantine, please explain what happened here.”
By now, the rest of the councilors had also arrived. They had all surrounded the youth, knowingly or unknowingly. But how could Adam not see what their actions meant?
They were highly suspicious of him. He looked at all the councilors, and seeing that Brigham Flynn wasn’t present, his heart turned cold.
That bastard… Just you wait!
In the end, he looked at Nylian Feno and truthfully answered, “I was attacked by a Mana Vortex Magus, but as you can see, I have already taken care of it.”
“Taken care of what?” Sabrina Benton pressed, her eyebrows furrowing.
Adam pointed at the corpse of Olin Barrett in the distance. “That.”
