Chapter 815: Flawless Alteration
Adam clasped his hands behind his back and casually strolled through the underground vault.
The place was enormous and there were countless artifacts placed here. Some artifacts radiated a overbearing aura, making the youth wonder if they were Rank 4 artifacts…
Or stronger!
I wonder just how strong Magus Mathias was, he thought.
To be able to craft or even acquire such powerful artifacts, it is safe to assume that he was equally powerful.
I think he was definitely above Rank 5 – Mana Seed Magus if his arrangements for the secret plane were able to trick the powerful Magi of this planet into thinking it was nothing special.
Or else…
Adam’s eyes narrowed. Or else, I’m afraid the Cult of Bones would have had their hands on this secret plane a long time ago!
The youth shook his head, trying to momentarily forget about the problem of the Cult that plagued him.
He absentmindedly gazed at all the Rank 3 artifacts, trying to figure out which one he could sell at the auction.
The youth didn’t need any for himself. The Staff of Calamity’s rank was unknown, but he was certain that its value surpassed every artifact within this vault.
Similarly, the black guantlets that Blacky had gifted to him were also of deep origins. Their value and strength were great.
He also possessed Nighhollow—the daggers he acquired within the Raven Inheritance—which were Rank 4 artifacts.
The true potential of these daggers would be fully unlocked when he advanced to the Mana Core Rank. Until then, the artifacts’ strength would be limited to his strength.
As for defensive artifacts, Adam did not need them. His body was the sturdiest defensive artifact in his possession. Such was the magnificence of practicing the Astral Tyrant Manual!
Overcome all obstacles.
Conquer all enemies.
This is the Way of the Tyrant!
Adam’s eyes flashed with a brilliant light.
The body was the ultimate weapon. That was the philosophy of the Astral Tyrant Manual.
It was also a maxim that Adam lived by. Of course, the Staff of Calmaity was a weapon far too valuable for him to ignore.
Conveniently enough, the staff techniques seamlessly merged with the mana combat techniques of the Astral Tyrant Manual, the Hand of Doom.
Giving rise to a whole new mana combat technique, the Staff of Doom.
As Adam conitnued to go through the artifacts in the vault and choose from them, he couldn’t help but be amazed by the intricacies of all the magical items.
From a single glance, he could tell that Magus Mathias was a superb Artificer and that he had chosen only the finest materials to craft each artifact in this vault.
These artifacts would fetch a far higher price than I’d imagined, the youth thought.
Once again, he couldn’t help but wonder just what rank Magus Mathias was when he was still alive. Looking at all the artifacts, Adam had a vague idea.
He paused in his footsteps and began to stroke his chin, deep in thought.
Could it be that Mathias the Free was a Rank 6 – Transcendent Magus?!
In that moment, a sudden realization dawned on him. He raised his head, his gaze seemingly piercing through the vault and the library, and landing on the skies of this dimension.

If that is true, then this secret plane…
“Have you chosen the artifacts yet?” The Joker’s grumpy voice drifted into his ears, snapping him out of his thoughts.
Adam turned around and saw the Joker standing behind him. He was carrying two thick leather-bound tomes while displaying an annoyed look on his face.
The youth hesitated whether to ask the Joker about his speculations. But in the end, he chose not to.
If I am destined to inherit this secret plane one day in the future, then the Joker will reveal its seccrets to me on his own, he thought with a faint smile.
“Yes, I have.” He nodded, showing the five artifacts in his hands.
“Tsk.” The Joker clicked his tongue in annoyance and shoved the two books into the youth’s hands as well. “Take this and leave now. Looking at your face is making my heart bleed.”
Adam let out a hearty laugh. “Don’t be so salty. Look at the bright side, you now have forty-eight barrels of extremely high-quality wine brewed personally by the Dark King himself!”
“The Dark King?” The Joker arched an eyebrow. “Is that what they’re calling you on the outside?”
The raven-haired youth puffed out his chest and raised his chin ever so slightly. His lips formed a smug smile, and he answered, “I’ll have you know, Sir Joker, in the Acadian Empire, only the most promising Mana Vortex Magi with legendary exploits are given the title of King—”
Before he could finish his sentence, the Joker conjured his large rubber hammer and struck Adam in the chest. “Fafafa! What’s a king to a jester?”
BAM!
The next thing he knew, Adam had been teleported out of the underground vault along with Valerian.
“Gahhh!” The youth fell to his knees, coughing violently.
That madman! He cursed inwardly. The hammer struck his chest, making it extremely difficult for him to breathe.
The two had teleported to a grassy mound that overlooked an expansive plane. Valerian curiously looked around, wondering where they had arrived.
When he turned around, he was surprised to see a statue of a man standing proudly.
“Brother, look!”
“Ughh…” Adam turned around weakly.
When his gaze landed on the polished marble statue of a man, his eyes slightly widened. “Could that be…”
A figure suddenly teleported beside him—it was none other than the Joker.
“Yes,” he said, looking at the statue with a bittersweet smile. “That is my great master.”
“Mathias the Free…” Adam spoke in a daze.
He quickly rose to his feet and offered a sincere bow to the statue. Thanks to the man leaving behind the secret plane on this planet, Adam was able to greatly benefit from it.
The youth also greatly admired the fact that Magus Mathias had chosen to return to Tron in his twilight years, and decided to leave behind his legacy for the people of this planet.
Seeing Adam offer his respects to the statue, the Joker displayed a genuine smile.
The raven-haired youth straightened his back, his gaze never leaving the statue. Suddenly, his eyes flashed with a brilliant light as he thought of something.
He quickly weaved a series of hand seals and performed a spell.
Rank 3 Spell: Alter Self!
Under the stunned gaze of the Joker, Adam gradually altered his appearance, transforming into Magus Mathias himself.
The Joker was momentarily dazed seeing his master before him once again, but he quickly regained his emotions. “What are you trying to do, lad?”
After the transformation, Adam turned to the Joker and asked eagerly, “Say, do I look like him now?”
The Joker’s gaze was drawn to Adam’s hair as he slightly shook his head. “His hair wasn’t black. It was coppery red.”
He paused for a moment before adding, “He was also a foot shorter.”
“Understood.” Adam weaved another series of hand seals, causing his raven hair to gradually transform into a coppery red.
He grimaced in slight pain as the bones in his body creaked. A few moments later, he had reduced his height by a foot.
Then, he weaved another set of hand seals to suppress his mana. The energy fluctuations around him changed drastically, making him seem no difficult than a Rank 2 – Mana Liquefaction Magus!
Seeing that, the Joker was stunned. “Such a fascinating spell!”
“How about it?” Adam grinned. “Do I look anything like my previous self?”
“No…” The Joker murmured in a daze. He felt as if he was talking to his own master.
The alteration spell was flawless!
“You look like my master when he was still a young man,” he said. He paused for a moment before adding, “Right, add some freckles. Then you would truly look like him.”
Adam did as instructed. He couldn’t stop himself from grinning widely.
“Now… I think I can find a way to participate in the tournament!”
