Chapter 818: Fair Deal
A chill crawled down the spines of the orcs. When they heard Adam’s words, they could feel his tyrannical aura seep into their bones and freezing them in place.
The Mana Liquefaction orc was covered in sweat. By now, he had already realized that the figure sitting on the tree branch was no ordinary human.
He was a Mana Vortex Magus!
The group of three orcs found it difficult to move their bodies. Their gaze shifted from Adam to the bag of meat on the ground before them.
A moment later, the raven-haired youth retrieved his overbearing aura, causing the orcs to slump to the ground, gasping for air.
“Scram,” he flatly muttered. Then, he continued to enjoy the roasted meat.
But a few moments later, he couldn’t help but frown. He lowered his head and saw that the group of orcs was still present.
They were shivering in fear, but they refused to leave.
The youth was unable to understand their motives. He couldn’t help but wonder if they were truly stupid enough to think they could deal with him.
But it didn’t take long for him to understand the orcs’ motives. Through his Sphere of Resonance, Adam sensed several more presences, numbering in the dozens, coming in his direction.
Sensing that, he couldn’t help but smile wryly. This group of three orcs wasn’t out to hunt…
They were the scouting party!
The vast majority of the orcs approaching had strength equivalent to the Mana Foundation Rank. About a tenth of them radiated the aura of the Mana Liquefaction Rank.
While one of the orcs, the one leading the group…
He was radiating the aura of a Mana Vortex Magus!
Realizing this, Adam couldn’t help but sigh. He looked at the twin moons through the dense forest canopy and murmured, “Why is it so difficult to live in peace?”
“…Live in peace?” The Mana Liquefaction orc on the ground gathered the courage to speak.
He looked at Adam, his eyes flashing with fear as well as anger, “You tresspass into our territorty and speak of peace? Human… you have made a grave mistake!”
Adam completely ignored him. But he was slightly taken aback that the Rank 2 orc knew the language of humans.
He retrieved the circular disk, the one that led him to Berger’s location, from his earrings. Then, after confirming the general direction, he put it away.
Despite dozens of orcs being led by a Mana Vortex existence approaching him, he was calm and collected. He continued to nonchalantly munch on the roasted meat.
There were two reasons why he didn’t leave yet.
One, he felt that there was a chance that the Rank 3 orc might have the means to track him, at which point it would be very inconvenient for Adam, who didn’t wish to draw any attention to himself in this dangerous place.
So, he might as well deal with the Rank 3 orc here and be done with it once and for all.
But most importantly, he wanted to acquire a map of the surrounding lands from one of these orcs. It would make it easier for him to navigate these lands.
Orcs were very territorial creatures. They didn’t take it lightly if an outsider trespassed on their territory. It was exactly like the Rank 2 orc had just said.
The orcs in the distance must have also noticed the slight disturbance here as Adam sensed them increasing their speeds, and rapidly approaching him.
Within the next minute, the tree he was perched on was surrounded by orcs on all sides. All of them glared at him with bloodthirst. Some of the more reckless—and also weakest—ones even tried to attack him, but were timely stopped by older orcs.
But not a ripple of emotion could be found in Adam’s eyes. He continued to eat as he scanned his surroundings, gazing at every orc that had arrived.
There were slightly fewer than fifty orcs. Five of them were Mana Liquefaction existences, and the rest were Mana Foundation.

An old orc with a slightly hunched back, wearing tattered black robes, approached the base of the tree.
He had tribal marking stretched across his leathery skin, giving him a wild and primal appearance. In one hand, he griped a thick staff, that he used to support himself.
But Adam knew that despite this old orc’s appearance, he was anything but weak.
Seeing the old magus standing fearlessly before him, Adam’s lips curled into a smirk. His lips parted, and he slowly and calmly spoke in their language.
“I’ll make you a promise,” Adam said coldly, his gaze sharp as a blade. “Give me the map of the surrounding region… and I’ll let you live. Sounds like a fair deal, yes?”
A cold chuckle escaped the old orc’s mouth. He raised his head to look at Adam and spoke in amusement, “Human, you don’t seem to realize the situation you are in.”
He paused for a moment and waved his hand. All the orcs in the surroundings brandished their weapons and prepared to cast spells.
They all had vicious expressions on their faces and looked like they couldn’t wait to attack Adam and bathe in his blood.
The old orc continued, “Quickly die and give me everything you have.”
His eyes flashed with an avaricious light as he looked at the fine robes Adam was wearing, as well as the several leather pouches tied around his waist.
From a single glance, he could tell that the youth had many resources on him. Moreover, he was also a Mana Vortex Magus, meaning he was a man of means.
The orc’s lips curled into a cruel smile. “I’ll put them to good use. I’ll flay you and wear your skin as a trophy. Sounds like a good deal, yes?”
Adam shook his head in exasperation. “Your men don’t need to die. Fight me yourself if you want to.”
“You humans sure are arrogant,” the elder orc snickered as he raised his hand, giving the order for his men to attack. “Why should I fight when my warriors alone can take care of you—”
THUD!
The orc’s voice got caught in his throat when he felt a sudden, searing pain shoot through his arm.
Slowly, he looked down. His hand was gone, severed cleanly from the wrist!
Terror gripped his heart and cold sweat soaked his back. He hadn’t even seen the youth move. One moment he was before him, the next moment he was gone.
When he glanced up at the tree branch where Adam had been sitting moments ago… it was empty.
Then, like a whisper from the grave, a cold voice drifted into his ears from directly behind him.
“You should have taken the deal.”
