Chapter 820: Forbidden Zone
The orcs called the Murky Mountains their home. So, naturally, their understanding of the dangerous terrains here was much deeper than Adam could ever hope to achieve.

Because of the map he had taken from the elder orc, he was able to navigate fluidly trough these dangeour lands, cutting the time it woud have taken to reach his destination by half.

Thanks to the map, he learned that there were actually dozens of orc tribes in the southern part of the Murky Mountains. Each tribe comprised hundreds of orcs led by a powerful Mana Vortex being.

Adam was able to avoid the territories of these tribes, following the guidelines of the map.

He didn’t want to draw any attention to himself, especially after his encounter with the group of orcs earlier.

Now, more than ever, he was extremely cautious after getting his hands on the map. After all, there were several forbidden zones in the map, even the Rank 3 old orc didn’t dare to go.

Adam couldn’t only speculate that these forbidden areas were home to ferocious wild beasts equivalent to Mana Vortex Magus, or perhaps… even stronger.

He didn’t wish to find out. Thus, he silently trudged through the dark jungles and made his way to the heart of the Murky Mountains.

However, the closer he got to his destination, the darker his expression became.

Two weeks after his encounter with that group of orcs, Adam found himself standing at the base of a towering mountain riddled with deciduous trees and shadowy figures.

This mountain looked no different than the thousands of mountains that occupied this enormous stretch of land. However, it gave off a very dangerous aura.

Adam could feel it in his bones. Whatever it was that resided in this mountain was a very dangerous creature. Furthermore, this mountain was designated as forbidden zone in the map.

The raven-haired youth should have, by all means, avoided this place. Just the aura radiating from the top of the mountain caused him to go on high alert, ringing all kinds of warning bells inside his mind.

But herein lay the problem…

The circular disk with the needle floating on it pointed straight towards the mountain!

In the past two weeks, he had come across several such mountains that were home to beasts. The entire mountain would be occupied by beasts from the same species.

The bottom of the mountain would be dominated by beasts whose strength was equivalent to Mana Foundation Magi, and the middle part would be occupied by beasts radiating the aura of Mana Liquefaction Magi.

As for the peak of the mountain, it would be solely occupied by the king of beasts, an existence equivalent to a Mana Vortex Magus.

However, the fact that this mountain before Adam was marked as a forbidden zone by that orc caused him to hesitate to move forward.

Suddenly, Adam’s eyes narrowed when he heard the sound of footsteps approaching. From behind the trees, a pack of regular wolves led by a larger wolf radiating the aura of a Rank 1 magical beast came into view.

They growled at him menacingly, seemingly warning him not to set foot into their territory.

Adam’s eyes narrowed further when he saw this pack of wolves. Then, he shifted his gaze to the needle on the disk that pointed towards the peak of the mountain.

“A wolf…” He muttered under his breath. “Could it be?”

He turned towards the summit of the mountain, his dark eyes flickering with hope.

The youth couldn’t help but think to himself, If it’s him, then it would make sense why this mountain would be marked as a forbidden zone!

However, he still did not know for sure. There was only one way to confirm his speculation.

Adam took a deep breath and muttered the words he always spoke before doing something reckless.

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

With those words, he unleashed the full force of his aura!

A shockwave of raw power burst from his body, distorting the air around him. The wind screamed as if in agony, trees creaked and bent under the pressure, and birds scattered from the canopy in a chaotic mess of feathers.

Far across the mountain, wolves whimpered and fled, their primal instincts screaming in terror.

Then came the howls… hundreds of them, if not thousands! They rose one after another, each fiercer than the last.

Seeing the aftermath of his actions, Adam exhaled slowly. His lips curled into a nervous smile as he stepped into the shadows of the mountain looming before him.

This better work, he thought to himself.

Or I won’t hesitate to teleport away from here!

The higher Adam climbed, the more wolves he came across. All of them stood far from him, growling at him. But the fear in their eyes was unmistakeable clear.

The youth didn’t rush the ascent. He was cautious of his surroundings, constantly on the lookout for anything abrupt and life-threatening.

His expression darkened as he continued to climb higher and higher. The strength of the beasts gradually increased.

From Mana Foundation to Mana Liquefaction.

From Mana Liquefaction to Mana Vortex.

Yet, he was nowhere near the summit of the mountain.

That could only mean one thing…

The beast occupying the summit of the mountain was the strongest Mana Vortex Rank in this place. Or perhaps, it was stronger than even that!

Adam gazed at the needle on the circuluar disk, constantly making sure that he was on the right track. Yet, the needle continued to guide him towards the mountain peak.

It has to be…

His heart bubbled with anticipation and nervousness. The midday sun gradually drifted across the sky and set beyond the horizon.

By the time Adam had arrived at the summit, the sky was dyed a shade of red. The same color flashed in the eyes of the hundreds of wolves that radiated the aura of the Mana Vortex Rank!

Instead of feeling afraid, however, the youth breathed a sigh of relief. The needle on the disk pointed at a large cave. The entrance of the cave was dark, but he could faintly see the outline of an enormous wolf.

Adam put away the disk as he walked towards the cave entrance. The wolves around him, strangely enough, did not attack him.

Some curiously looked at him, while others furiously growled. But none dared to come forward.

He finally arrived before the cave entrance, gazing at the enormous wolf inside.

No words were said; the two just silently stared at each other.

The giant wolf finally got to his feet, causing all the other Rank 3 wolves outisde to immediately bow down in reverence.

Under the light of the setting sun, the wolf’s appearance finally became visible as he came out of the cave.

He deeply looked at Adam with gentle eyes, carefully observing him from head to toe.

“You have grown up,” he said, his voice deep and filled with warmth. “I almost did not recognize you.”

The moment Adam heard the familiar voice, a wide grin bloomed on his face. Without hesitation, he dashed forward and threw his arms around the beast, giving him a tight embrace.

“Blackie, I missed you!”
