Chapter 825: Boundless (Ko-fi Bonus Chapter)
“Sealing magic?” Adam frowned.
He had not expected the old man to use sealing magic to conceal himself. Essentially, what the man had done was effectively seal his presence!
It was a very ingenious way of using sealing magic that belonged to the School of Warding.
Adam’s eyebrows furrowed together when he realized that he still couldn’t sense the man’s presence despite the latter being right before him.
“Fascinating!” he couldn’t help but exclaim. “My Lord, are you using sealing magic as we speak?”
The elderly Magus succinctly replied. “Always.”
With that said, he walked towards Adam—to be more precise, he walked towards the covered-up pit that contained the anchor point.
He then stood beside Adam and silently observed the runes, his gaze seemingly piercing through the layers of earth and landing underground.
While the man was observing the runic formation, Adam was observing him.
So he is the Old Man’s mentor? He wondered in quiet curiosity.
The man appeared impossibly old, his skin thin and pale like parchment stretched over bones and muscles, etched with deep lines of countless years.
Silvery-white hair crowned his head. His eyes, though sunken, held a timeless intelligence, as if they had seen the rise and fall of nations and grown weary of both.
The eldery man was draped in flowing robes of indigo and gold. He carried himself with a posture so upright and composed it defied his fragile frame.
Despite his frailty, an aura of authority surrounded him. Dignified, detached, and untouchable.
He did not command the surroundings, the surroundings yielded to his presence.
And there was something else…
Adam squinted his eyes as he tried to identify this feeling.
It was familiar.
Though the old man’s body seemed withered by time, there was an undeniable weight to his presence.
Adam recalled his movements just now. They were slow and deliberate, yet they carried the stillness of someone who had long ago transcended haste.
Standing right beside him, Adam could feel it.
He could… see it.
The air around him felt thinner, heavier, as if space itself bent slightly in deference!
To the untrained eye, he appeared frail. Perhaps, even near death. But to someone with a keen perception like Adam, that illusion shattered instantly.
In that moment, the raven-haired youth finally knew, and his eyes trembled.
Beneath the surface of this seemingly week elderly man, lay a force so vast, so tightly coiled, it was terrifying!
Old. Absolute. Boundless.
The old man didn’t flaunt his strength. He didn’t need to. The world simply knew.
This was the peak of magic in Tron.
This was… the Mana Core Rank!

A drop of sweat trickled down the side of Adam’s forehead, and he found his lips curling into a faint, nervous smile.
This is the Old Man’s mentor? A Mana Core Magus! He thought incredulously.
He pressed his right hand over his chest and then went down on one knee. “I beg your forgiveness for my earlier impudence, my lord.”
The elderly Magus turned towards him, glancing at him with emotionless eyes. Then, he let out a light snort before turning his attention back towards the runes.
But the slight snort caused Adam’s back to be drenched in a layer of cold sweat. In that moment, he felt his heart sink.
The nervous smile on his face deepened, and he thought, As expected of a Mana Core Magus…
Although Adam had met a Magus far stronger than the one standing before him, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t display proper etiquette. Magi respected strength above all else.
I would have never imagined the Old Man’s background to be so deep, he thought.
A Mana Core Magus as a mentor… That’s…
“Rise.” The elderly man’s word drifted into his ears, jolting him out of his thoughts.
“Yes!” Adam immediately rose to his feet, his back straight as an arrow. He didn’t even dare to breathe loudly in this man’s presence.
There was something about the old man’s aura and the way he carried himself. It made Adam want to lower his head. Such a realization truly shocked him.
Just what kind of station does he hold for him to have such an aura? He thought incredulously.
He was certain that the elderly man sat at the Council of Dawn, the true leadership of the Twilight Brotherhood.
Then that would mean he is the leader of the Preservationist faction, Adam mused.
Yes, there were also rumors about this faction’s leader being extremely old, with one foot in the grave.
After all, the Old Man is part of this faction. It would make sense for him to be in the same faction as his mentor.
“Where did you learn such profound rune magic, boy?” Asked the aged man, his gaze still glued to the ground.
“Most of my knowledge comes from the books I’ve borrowed from the Brotherhood,” Adam answered truthfully. He didn’t dare to lie.
“The rest come from inheritances I’ve found during my travels.”
“Knowledge about such a runic formation doesn’t exist in the Brotherhood,” the aged man said matter-of-factly.
A few moments later, he turned towards Adam, gazing at him with narrowed eyes. “It would appear that you have come across quite the inheritance.”
Adam forced a smile. “I, uh… I was fortunate, my lord.”
“Hmm.” The old man turned his attention back to the pit, seemingly studying the runes.
He didn’t ask any more about the inheritance. As a Magus who stood at the peak of the arcane arts in this world, he knew better than most that every Magus had secrets and trump cards.
As a Magus who prided himself on righteousness, it would be beneath him to press Adam further on the matter.
He did find this runic formation very fascinating, however.
As Adam had speculated, the elderly Magus was indeed the leader of the Preservationist faction, who believed that the preservation of history, knowledge, and artifacts was critical to maintain balance.
After a long silence, the aged man finally turned to Adam and spoke in a flat, unyielding voice, “You will share the knowledge of this runic formation with me.”
It wasn’t a request.
It was a command.
Adam’s lips twitched. Isn’t that a little rude of you? He thought awkwardly.
But before he could respond, the old man spoke again. Like earlier, his words were a direct order that one simply could not refuse.
His voice was just as firm, just as final.
“In return, I will teach you my sealing magic.”
