Chapter 913: Trap (Super Gift Bonus)
The moment Ives Ballard contacted the Master regarding this recent development, the first thing that went through the latter’s mind was…

This was a trap!

Otherwise, why else would the Dark King allow his sister to leave Ravenfell during such a critical moment when the waters were so turbulent?

Moreover, things had happened so quickly that the Master didn’t have enough time to formulate a proper plan and react accordingly.

No, there was barely any time at all, as Anna and her entourage had already left the city.

The window was small, and they had to act quickly!

The Cult could only afford to send one of their Mana Vortex Magi as they were already spread out too thin.

And together with the Magus from the Ballard Family, it would already draw suspicions, given that the city was under high alert.

By now, all of the Cult’s Mana Vortex Magi had infiltrated the city and were in hiding, waiting for the right moment to strike.

A single unaccounted-for move could alter the plan greatly.

They had to make do with sending only two Mana Vortex Magi after Anna. That would more than suffice since only one Mana Vortex Magus was guarding Anna.

This was an easy mission.

It was too easy!

The Master was very cautious of the Dark King, given that the latter had a habit of making the impossible happen.

At such a critical juncture, the Master could not take too big of a risk considering how much they had planned for the Grand Magus Tournament.

Therefore, in the end, he decided that only two Mana Vortex Magi would go. However, he did warn Ballard of something beforehand…

The Mana Vortex Magus he had dispatched was not allowed to carry anything that would tie him to the Ballard Family.

Ives Ballard could only reluctantly agree.

The truth was, he had already sent his son, the only other Mana Vortex Magus in his family, after Anna.

He didn’t even think of the possibility of failure. And in the off-chance that the mission failed, he believed that his son was capable enough not to let any traces tie back to the family.

Ives Ballard was certain of at least that much. And so was his son.

After the two Mana Vortex Magi had been sent in pursuit of Anna, the Master also made his move.

On the rooftop of a building adjacent to the Constantine Estate, a mysterious figure shrouded in a dark cloak suddenly appeared.

It was Mana Core Magus leading the Cult of Bones.

Nobody was able to sense his presence at all… not even the Dark King!

Standing at a suitable vantage point, he was able to clearly see Adam lounging by the pond and sipping wine from a flat cup.

The raven-haired youth appeared calm and relaxed, but the Master would be a fool to believe that.

Just what are you planning? Thought the Master.

He was waiting for Adam to make his move.

And the moment the raven-haired youth did… that’s when he would act!

Two Mana Vortex Magi, concealed in magic, cautiously made their way out of the city’s underground sewage tunnels.

Once they were at a considerable distance from Ravenfell, they cancelled their concealment spells and pursued Anna and her entourage at their fastest speed.

“Just what the hell was the Dark King thinking?” The Magus from the Cult of Bones, an old man with a hunched back, sneered. “Allowing his sister to leave the city so conspicuously… It’s like he wants her to be abducted. Hah!”

“Don’t let your guard down.” Ives Ballard’s eldest son, Hayes Ballard, muttered coldly. “There might be enemies lying in wait. That boy…”

Hayes gnashed his teeth, recalling how Adam had humiliated his father in front of so many aristocrats a few days ago.

“He is one crafty little bastard!” He spat angrily. “Don’t for a moment think that this mission is going to be easy!”

The hunched-back Magus glanced at him deeply. A moment later, he nodded. “It’s likely to be a trap. This whole situation seems far too easy.”

Hayes silently nodded.

In his mind, however, he was already thinking of ways to torture Anna when he got his hands on her. But regardless of how much he despised Adam, he did not allow his emotions to cloud his judgment.

And just like that… the two Magi quickly made their way to their target.

***

“How come we’re suddenly going back to the Southern Federation?” Inside the carriage, the silver-haired Ada pouted. “I thought you wanted to stay in Ravenfell until the Grand Magus Tournament was over?”

But the woman cared little for some stupid tournament. What she really wanted was to be in the company of Adam.

Just thinking about him caused her heart to flutter, and she couldn’t help but urge, “Let’s turn the carriage back around! Do you really want to miss the Grand Magus Tournament? It happens only once in thirty years!”

Kaspar turned to Anna with an inquisitive gaze. Actually, he, too, was curious as to why the princess had suddenly changed her mind.

But he didn’t protest her decision. His job was to follow her wherever she went and protect her.

Anna gazed at the passing scenery outside the window, her ruby eyes flickering with a peculiar light.

A few seconds passed before she simply answered, “In the Southern Federation… in Glassford, there lies an opportunity.”

“An opportunity?” Kaspar arched an eyebrow.

Anna turned to him and nodded. “Yes, it will be very beneficial for us.”

She then looked at Ada and continued, “As for the Grand Magus Tournament… it’s just a tournament. I didn’t come to Ulier to watch a tournament where children fought one another.”

Ada pursed her lips. Then, her eyes lit up and she said, “You mentioned Adam will be coming to Glassford after the tournament ended, yes?”

The crimson-haired princess absentmindedly nodded.

“…I suppose he will.”

***

Far off into the distance, over a hundred meters behind the carriage, Hayes Ballard and the hunched-back Magus from the Cult had arrived.

They had already caught up!

Once again, they had activated their concealment spells.

However, they did not attack the carriage immediately. No, they waited, patiently scanning the surroundings for any hidden dangers.

Once they finished scouting the area and confirmed that there were no enemies…

That’s when they would strike!
