Chapter 924: Proud Princess
Despite the wave of disbelief threatening to freeze her in place, Anna knew this wasn’t the right time to be wondering about such things.

She rose to her feet, feeling newfound strength course through her veins. It was at that point that she realized another critical point about awakening the Song.

Sure, the holy flames had healed her injuries, knitting flesh, mending bone, and flooding her limbs with newfound vitality and strength.

But everything had a price.

As she rose shakily to her feet, Anna’s expression twisted with realization. Her mana reserves… they had been drained, drastically so.

The sacred fire had not healed her for free. It had consumed her mana in return.

She was whole again, yes. But dangerously close to empty!

And in a battlefield where the fight was still waging on, this was definitely not a good situation to be in.

Her eyes narrowed, and she immediately came to a decision. Saving her people was her first priority.

She scanned the battlefield with her ruby eyes, her gaze quickly finding her friends, Ada and Daryl.

Both lay unconscious, their bodies battered but still breathing.

She couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief. At least her friends were alive. It seemed that the serpents of the Coil had arrived just in the nick of time to save them.

Without hesitation, Anna dashed toward them, determined to drag them to safety. But in the very next step, she stumbled.

She looked down at her feet, eyes wide with astonishment.

That… was fast, she thought incredulously.

She hadn’t augmented her legs with mana. She wasn’t foolish enough to do that.

Her mana reserves were dangerously low, and on a battlefield where anything could happen, squandering mana on movement could quite possibly mean death.

And yet, that was exactly why she was so stunned.

Her speed… it was comparable to when she actively coated her limbs with mana!

The realization struck her like lightning.

The Song of Immortal Flame… it had changed her body. In mysterious and powerful ways she didn’t yet understand.

But now was not the time to dwell on it.

She dashed in the direction of her friends once more, her speed still astonishing, but this time, however, she managed to adjust her movements and gain control.

Sliding to a stop beside Ada, she crouched down and swiftly conjured a Potion of Healing from her storage ring.

Tilting the silver-haired woman’s head gently, she poured the potion between her lips, then applied a few more doses to her visible wounds.

Without wasting a second, she turned to Daryl and did the same.

Her gaze flickered with vigilance as she scanned the battlefield once again. Her eyes narrowed when she saw the brutal chaos that ensued between the undead creatures and the otherworldly serpents.

The moment Anna’s gaze landed on the hundreds of serpents, she knew they were her little brother’s contracted summons.

Did he expect such a thing to happen then? She thought with a solemn expression.

But… just who are these people? Could they be from Haynam?

Her gaze shifted to Ballard and Zashi, each of whom was fighting against Mana Vortex-level serpents of war.

When her gaze landed on Hayes Ballard, her ruby eyes flared with fury. She remembered all too well how brutally the man had struck, not just her, but Ada and Daryl as well.

And the vile things he had said to her…

She would not forget. She would not forgive.

She was Anna Fireborne, the proud princess of the Ignisra Kingdom!

How could she ever pardon such insolent acts committed against her?

In the next instant, her ears perked up. She quickly shifted her gaze towards her brother-in-law, who was lying down beside her.

“Ugh…” the auburn-haired man groaned. He slowly opened his eyes, only to see Anna staring at him with a concerned look on her face.

“Guhh, I’m not dead?” He was sure that the last upper-cut would have severed his head from his neck. Yet, here he was, alive and breathing.

“Can you move?” Anna cut to the chase.

Daryly slowly sat up, rubbing his stomach in agony. He gritted his teeth and then nodded.

“…Yeah, I can move.”

He turned to Ada and saw that the silver-haired woman was still unconscious. Recalling how their opponent had slammed head to the ground, his body trembled in fright.

“Is she… alive?” he asked, loudly gulping.

Anna turned to her and lingered for a moment. She then nodded and simply said, “Take her to the base of the cliff by the pass.”

“What about you?” Daryl asked, his tone laced with apprehension.

They were all severely injured and not capable of fighting at the moment. In such a situation, it was wise for them to move as far away from the battlefield as possible.

However, he knew exactly the type of person Anna was.

She was a headstrong woman who wouldn’t rest until she saw her goal through.

And right now… whatever she’d set her mind to, Daryl didn’t like it one bit.

He especially didn’t like that look in her eyes.

“Anna,” he called out. “What are you trying to do?”

“I’m going to get Kasper first,” she said as she rose to her feet.

Without wasting another moment, she dashed in his direction, leaving behind Daryl staring at her in a daze.

“Damn, this woman!” He grumbled as he, too, got to his feet. “She never listens!”

He gently carried Ada in her arms and retreated towards the pass.

Nearly a minute later, Anna appeared, carrying an unconscious Kasper on her back. She carefully laid him down beside Ada, then turned toward the battlefield.

It had been further divided into four distinct fonts.

The first pitted Ballard against the Mana Vortex-level black serpent. The second saw Zashi clashing with the Mana Vortex-level gray serpent.

On the third front, Zashi’s undead army was engaged in a fierce struggle with a large portion of the Mana Liquefaction-level serpents.

Meanwhile, the remaining serpents were locked in combat with the Rank 3 undead creature.

The first three fronts had reached a stalemate with neither side gaining the upper hand. But the fourth battlefield, the undead knight, clearly held the advantage.

Anna’s ruby eyes flickered with ruthless determination as she realized what needed to be done for their side to claim victory.

Without hesitation, she turned around and took the silver bracelets from Ada’s hands and put them onto her wrists. Hers had been damaged during the battle with Ballard.

“You… are you trying to…” Daryl didn’t even dare to finish his words, staring at Anna wide-eyed.

Anna didn’t respond right away.

After adjusting the artifacts on her wrists, she rose to her feet and turned toward the distant battlefield.

Her gaze was steady and resolute.

With a flick of her hand, she summoned her sword. Then, activating the silver bracelets, she vanished from sight…

But not before leaving behind her parting words:

“I’ll be right back.”
