Chapter 557: Not As Thankful
Qi Yongrui turned to look at his wife when he heard her remark. He had a feeling that something was going to happen and couldn’t help but turn to look in the direction of the stage. He wondered what kind of trouble was waiting for Mrs Pei for his wife to be this excited.

Mrs Pei, on the other hand, had no idea that some people were looking for her glorious fall. When she heard that the emcee had called her to the stage and was asking her to take a ride around the auction house in the sedan chair, her eyes filled with satisfaction. She stood up from the chair on which she was sitting and then turned to look at Qi Liwei.

She said to him, “Do you want to come down with me?”

When Qi Liwei heard her response, his eyes couldn’t help but flicker in panic, as he truly had no desire to get down on the stage with an old woman. There were so many dashing, young, and charming women along with Luo Huian watching; if he went down the stage with an old woman, what reputation would be left of him?

His eyes flickered to Luo Huian, who was looking more than just charming, and his heart started to thud in his chest. Qi Liwei raised his head and smiled at Mrs Pei before saying, “It’s alright, Madam. This is your time to shine; how can I steal your limelight? You should take the first ride alone. I will take the next one with you.”

While he was speaking these words, Qi Liwei almost gagged. However, he still managed to hold and continued to smile with a charming expression.

Even though Qi Liwei was cursing Mrs Pei to die an early death, he continued to act as a sensible mer. Thus, how could Mrs Pei not like him? She reached out and pinched him on the cheek before heading out of the VIP room.

Qi Liwei waited for her to disappear before he wiped his cheek off with a wet wipe. He truly despised the fact that the Qi family asked him to accompany an old woman under the pretext of helping out Qi Changpu. He knew very well that they sent him here because they wanted to punish him.

They must be quite unhappy with him because he caused their family to get into trouble. Thus, they asked him to accompany Mrs Pei under the pretext that as long as he got along with her, he would be helping the Qi family out.

Of course, Qi Liwei was not happy about it. But what could he do? Unlike Qi Liwei, who had someone like Luo Huian to care for him, he didn’t have anyone. He could only do what the Qi family wanted him to do.

Usually, he would have stopped her from causing trouble, but after Luo Huian decided to stray clear of the path of the immortal realm, he could no longer continue with his old ways; he had to think of a way to make Luo Huian return. She couldn’t stay in the mortal world anymore!

Xiao Bai had the same thoughts as well. Thus, she didn’t say a word either. She flicked her tongue and let Luo Huian do whatever she wanted. The last thing she needed was for Luo Huian to think that they were too commanding and refusing to return home.

If she didn’t go back, Xiao Bai was worried that Jiao Bo would burn the immortal realm to ashes. Even though the change was not big enough to cause a stir, some people still found it weird. A few seconds ago, the sedan looked like it was a rare treasure. Why was it that now that they were looking at it, they couldn’t help but think that the sedan was nothing to be awed by?

The guests of the auction turned to look at one another, not understanding what was going on.

She was smiling brilliantly while climbing up the stairs with the help of her cane.

Looking at the sedan chair, she felt a sense of pride, as this was the prize that she had won from the four heirs.

“Madam Pei,” the emcee greeted the old woman with a smile on his lips. Even though he was slightly disgusted by the woman, he still smiled and treated her warmly. What was he supposed to do? This woman was the VIP of tonight’s auction.

Without the four families taking care of the auction, only Madam Pei’s generous purchase helped them save some face, or else he was worried that even his usual fee would have been chipped off, much less the bonus.

The emcee smiled at Madam Pei, who nodded her head quite imperiously. If not for the fact that they all could see that the sedan chair was quite simple, they would have thought that it was a royal ride and Madam Pei was the empress.

Madam Pei indeed thought that she was the empress. She not only got into the sedan with a big hoo-ha but also gave a small speech in which she handed her respect and gratitude to the young generation of the four families for being respectful to the elderly.

When Luo Huian heard her speech, she was so amused that she almost clapped her hands. She wondered what Madam Pei would think once she got in the sedan and ended up flat on her face. Would she still be this thankful?

Turned out that Madam Pei was not at all thankful; the second the sedan chair cracked, she fell quite hard on the floor.
