Chapter 101: Delegation Of Xia Family To Song Family
A shrewd glint flickered in Wang Li’s eyes behind the White Eagle Mask as he addressed Song Jingyan, his voice laced with a hint of diplomacy.
“Esteemed Madam Song,” he began, “the news of Patriarch Song Weiguang’s delegation not reaching your esteemed manor has deeply troubled the Xia Family. You see, as you may be aware, a trade agreement was established between our esteemed families, one that Patriarch Song himself accepted with great enthusiasm.”
He paused, allowing the weight of his words to settle before continuing. “The Xia Family values this partnership greatly. We believe a strong trade alliance between our families would benefit both parties immensely. Therefore, we wish to assure you of our continued commitment to this agreement.”
A flicker of understanding crossed Song Jingyan’s features. The communication talisman from her husband mentioned a trade agreement, and it all seemed to line up with Wang Li’s words.
‘Perhaps’, she thought, ‘this could be a way to maintain the good relationship that Weiguang sought with the Xia Family.’
However, her responsibilities as the acting head of the Song Family weighed heavily on her.
“Eagle Masked Expert,” Song Jingyan began, her voice firm despite a tremor of worry, “I appreciate the Xia Family’s desire to maintain the trade agreement. However, with my husband and a large portion of our strongest cultivators missing, the Song Family is currently in a state of… disarray.”
Wang Li saw his chance. “Indeed,” he agreed, feigning concern. “Which is precisely why the Xia Family has dispatched this delegation. We would be honored to stay here and help you out until Patriarch Song and the other members of the delegation return. Consider us guests, here to offer aid in any way necessary.”
He further spoke with a rather sly grin concealed by his mask. “Should any… internal unrest arise, or should you require force to maintain order, do not hesitate to call upon us. We possess the strength to quell any dissent and ensure the smooth operation of the Song Family.”
Song Jingyan found herself contemplating his offer. The news of her husband and the delegation’s disappearance had indeed caused a stir within the family. Some loyal elders were worried, while others with ambition in their eyes saw an opportunity for a power grab. Having a team of strong cultivators from the Xia Family under her temporary command could prove invaluable in maintaining control.
“I appreciate your offer, Eagle Masked Expert,” she said, her voice firm despite the turmoil within. “The Song Family can use all the help it can get during these uncertain times. However, let me be clear – I will only request assistance when absolutely necessary.”
“Of course,” Wang Li readily agreed, a satisfied smirk hidden behind the mask. “The Xia Family seeks nothing more than to offer support during this difficult period.”
He continued, his voice laced with feigned concern. “Rest assured, Madam Song. We will combine our efforts to locate your husband and the delegation as quickly as possible. With the combined might of the Song and Xia Families, their safe return is inevitable.”
Song Jingyan nodded curtly, a sliver of hope flickering in her eyes. Despite her apprehension towards the Xia Family, their offer of assistance was enticing. Perhaps, working with them was the best course of action for now.
As they exchanged pleasantries, Wang Li couldn’t resist himself as he discreetly activated his Heavenly Fate Pupils.

Then, he saw it – Song Jingyan’s destiny, glowing in a spectrum of colors that left him speechless. Her primary color of destiny was a vibrant orange, signifying rapid growth, but intertwined within it was a faint, yet unmistakable, tinge of purple. The Purple Destiny which meant an unconventional path to greatness.
This revelation sent a jolt through Wang Li. Such a destiny was incredibly rare, suggesting that Song Jingyan possessed hidden potential waiting to be unleashed.
She could be a powerful ally, or a formidable foe.
His course of action was clear. He needed to win her over, not just for the Song Family’s resources, but for her own innate abilities.
Song Jingyan’s sharp clap broke him out of his reverie. Several maids materialized, bowing respectfully to her. “Esteemed Eagle Masked Expert,” she said, gesturing towards the maids, “these ladies will escort you and your team to your designated quarters. Please consider yourselves honored guests of the Song Family.”
Wang Li bowed slightly in acknowledgment. This turn of events had surpassed even his most optimistic expectations. Not only had he gained a foothold within the Song Family, but he had also uncovered a potential ally with a wonderful destiny. A slow smile spread across his face, hidden behind the mask.
The crisp dawn light filtering through the ornately carved windows of his assigned quarters signaled the start of Wang Li’s true mission.
With a predatory glint in his eyes, he shed the White Eagle Mask, revealing the calculating mind beneath. His plan was simple yet audacious – to manipulate the internal politics of the Song Family and turn Song Jingyan into a loyal ally.
However, achieving this would require a delicate dance.
He needed to navigate the treacherous waters of the Song Family hierarchy, discerning loyalties and exploiting vulnerabilities. His first step involved gathering intel. Servants, maids, and even lowly guards often harbored valuable secrets about a family’s inner workings.
With practiced charm and a discreetly slipped purse of spirit stones, Wang Li began cultivating relationships with these seemingly insignificant figures. He started conversations with a casual inquiry about the weather, seamlessly transitioning into questions about the Song Family’s power structure.
Were there any elders dissatisfied with Song Jingyan’s leadership? Who held the most influence amongst the cultivators?
“Have there been any… disagreements among the elders since Patriarch Song’s disappearance?” he inquired casually while sipping tea with a senior maid, her face etched with the wisdom of years spent serving the family.
The maid’s eyes flickered, a flicker of apprehension battling with a desire for the spirit stones jingling in her palm. “There have been… tense discussions, esteemed guest,” she admitted in a hushed voice. “Some elders feel… uncertain about the future with Matriarch Song at the helm.”
Wang Li leaned in, feigning concern. “Uncertain? Why is that?”
The maid cast a nervous glance around the room before lowering her voice further. “Some elders believe a woman’s touch is ill-suited to lead a family of cultivators like ours. They feel a stronger hand is needed, someone who can navigate these turbulent times with decisive leadership.”
Bingo. This was the information Wang Li craved. Ambitious elders, eager to exploit the crisis for their own gain. He thanked the maid profusely, his smile widening as he mentally formulated his next move.
His investigation revealed a clear division within the Song Family. This factionalism extended beyond the elders. There were those who rallied behind Song Jingyan, her husband’s absence notwithstanding.
These were primarily the fourth and fifth wives, women who lacked influence within the power structure and found solace in Song Jingyan’s leadership.
However, the real threat came from the second and third wives, blood sisters united by their ambition and a shared lineage – the Chu Family. They saw this crisis as an opportunity to elevate their own standing and, by extension, the influence of their former family. They had cultivated alliances with various ambitious elders, forming a powerful faction that threatened to undermine Song Jingyan’s authority.
A dangerous dance of power was unfolding, and Wang Li intended to be the one pulling the strings. A devious glint flickered in his eyes, his mind brimming with a strategy both ruthless and cunning. He would exploit the existing factions within the Song Family, pitting them against each other.
His first target was the Chu sisters.
He would approach them with a proposition, a way for them to secure their desired influence within the Song Family while simultaneously weakening Song Jingyan’s position. He would offer them his support, the Xia Family’s resources, in exchange for their allegiance.
Of course, his ultimate goal wasn’t to empower the Chu sisters. They were merely pawns in his grand game.
Once Song Jingyan was sufficiently isolated, weakened, and dependent on him, his true plan would come into play.
He would present himself as her savior, the one who restored order and stability to the Song Family.
In the process, he would secure a position of immense influence, making him the power behind the throne, with Song Jingyan, his unwitting ally, as the public face of leadership.
The plan was audacious, even for Wang Li. Yet, as he surveyed the opulent surroundings of his quarters within the Song Family manor, a thrill of anticipation coursed through him.
