Chapter 113: The Overwatch Agency
Outskirts of Metro City…
The GT-R tore across the desolate desert landscape.
The scenery was stark.
Dry, cracked earth stretched endlessly, interrupted only by the occasional gnarled tree or wandering coyote.
The sun blazed overhead.
Rhinoman drummed his thick fingers against the steering wheel, squinting at the horizon.
“So, uh… I’m not seeing anything…”
He muttered, tilting his head to get a better look at what appeared to be absolutely nothing.
“This whole area’s just sand and lizards, boss. You sure this is the right place?”
From the passenger seat, Nadia jabbed a finger forward.
“Keep going straight. We’re not there yet. You’ll hit the canyon soon enough.”
Rhinoman raised a skeptical brow.
“The canyon? What canyon? I don’t see a canyon.”
Scott leaned back and did his best to ignore the warm, smothering sensation of Gwen and Brigid clinging to him like starved leeches.
He sighed, exasperated but resigned.
“Just keep driving. We’re almost there. It’s only a bit further before w—”
Before he could finish, Brigid shifted closer and planted a quick, mischievous kiss on his chin.
“Mwah~! Almost there, huh? Guess I better make every second count!”
She purred, giggling like a schoolgirl up to no good.
Scott groaned. “Brigid…”
From the other side, Gwen pulled him tighter against her soft breasts, smirking victoriously.
“Relax, dude. You know she’s just doing too much because her lonely, freaky ass is jealous, psssh!”
Brigid narrowed her eyes.
Her adorable cheeks puffed indignantly.
“Oh, please. Keep talking like that and I’ll show you who’s the ‘extra.’ tch──bitch…”
She turned her nose up.
“Let’s see if your dumb blonde act wins over Lord Nightwatch when I—”
“Ladies, please!”
Scott cut in with a strained voice.
He shot Rhinoman an apologetic look through the rearview mirror.

“Just focus on the road.”
Rhinoman chuckled under his breath.
“Got it, sir.”
He shifted gears, accelerating down the dry path.
・・・
After another minute of driving, something massive began to emerge on the horizon. A colossal shadow stretched across the land, growing larger as they neared. Rhinoman blinked and leaned forward and his grin faltered as the sheer scale of the structure became clear.
“What the hell…?” he muttered, slowing the car.
Even Gwen and Brigid paused their tug-of-war over Scott’s arms as they stared out the window.
“Holy…”
“Smokes…”
Their jaws dropped in unison.
Nadia smirked knowingly but kept her eyes ahead, while Scott leaned his head back with a quiet, self-satisfied smile.
The structure was nothing short of monumental.
Built into the cliffside of a massive canyon, the structure rose high into the sky, its sleek, geometric design both impressively striking and intimidating. Its dark, sharp-edged architecture contrasted sharply with smooth white plating that gleamed under the desert sun.
Floating anti-gravity carts zipped along its surface, carrying glowing green minerals from sewer-like openings set into the canyon walls.
Despite its towering size, the hyper-advanced facility seemed to merge naturally with the rugged landscape, as if it had grown out of the earth itself.
Gwen finally broke the silence. “It looks…”
“… Amazing,” Brigid finished.
Rhinoman’s jaw slackened as he stared up at the beautiful megastructure. He let out a low whistle before swiveling around to face Scott.
“No way… All this time, I thought you were just some vigilante with a fancy suit. But this? This is billionaire-level shit, boss. Multi-billionaire, even.”
Scott raised an eyebrow.
『He’s calling me boss already? Well, I’m gonna be his Chairman soon, so I guess it’s better he gets used to it now? Still weird though…』
He shrugged.
“Uh, trust me. I’m definitely not a billionaire.”
Rhinoman threw his hands up, nearly losing control of the wheel.
“Then how the fuck did you build this?!”
Scott smirked but didn’t answer as he let Rhinoman stew in disbelief.
Gwen turned her wide-eyed stare on him.
She shook him like a ragdoll.
“Okay, spill. When did you even do all this? And how? This has to be, like, fifty billion dollars at least!”
Scott tilted his head thoughtfully.
“Eh… It’s not that high… probably.”
Before Gwen could press further, Brigid yanked Scott toward her side, sticking her tongue out at the blonde.
“Hah! As if Lord Nightwatch would waste his time explaining anything to you, dumbass. Go home and cry about missing the chance to penetrate his fine a—”
“Brigid…” Scott warned.
She flinched as her face turned pink.
“I-, I wasn’t gonna say anything bad!”
She twiddled her fingers as her adorable voice dropped to a mumble.
“I just think we can all agree Lord Nightwatch has, uh… a glorious behind…”
Scott dragged a hand down his face.
“Now’s really not the time.”
Nadia snorted, barely hiding her amusement.
“Uhm, Mr. Rhino, just drive into the compound. We’ve got work to do.”
“Right…”
Rhinoman muttered, shaking his head as he eased the car into a tubular-shaped passage at the base of the structure.
The passage was wide enough to fit several vehicles side-by-side and illuminated by pale, blue-tinted lights embedded in the walls. As they descended further, the road opened into an expansive white hall.
Hovering robots approached the car.
Their sleek designs matched the aesthetic of the structure.
With efficiency, they opened the car doors and offered a welcome into the facility.
Scott stepped out, then straightened his coat as he surveyed the hall.
He turned to his companions.
“Welcome to the Overwatch Agency.”
Gwen and Brigid exchanged stunned glances before Gwen finally blurted.
“You’re seriously going to explain all this later, right?”
Scott smirked faintly. “We’ll see.”
・・・
Moments Later…
The white hall stretched out before them.
Every surface gleamed, reflecting a pristine brilliance that seemed almost unearthly.
The sound of distant advanced machinery and the occasional whir of hovering robots was constant.
Brigid clung to Scott’s side like a magnet as her head nestled against his chest as if she belonged there.
Her smile was radiant.
As much as she was invested in the futuristic beauty of the headquarters, nothing seemed more beautiful than the feeling of sticking so close to her mentor after over a week of not seeing him.
“This place is incredible…”
She murmured, but panicked instantly.
“N-, Not as beautiful as Lord Nightwatch though!”
“Uh-huh…” Scott dully replied.
Right after, he glanced down at her.
“You’re really gonna trip if you don’t watch where you’re walking.”
Brigid let out a playful huff.
“Then catch me if I do, my lord.”
Gwen trailed just a step behind as her wide eyes scanned every inch of the hall. The sheer scale of the place left her momentarily speechless.
Finally, she found her voice.
“Wow… Okay, seriously, you couldn’t have at least told me you were building a freaking space-age fortress out in the middle of nowhere?!”
She gestured wildly at their surroundings.
“This place looks friggin’ amazing. Like, imagine the kinds of parties we could hold here!”
Nadia, who walked with her usual unshakable poise, raised an eyebrow at Gwen.
“Parties? Really?”
Gwen turned to Nadia as her expression shifted instantly.
The image of Scott and Nadia hugging each other with so much emotion at the hospital flashed into her mind, and her mood darkened.
Her lips curled into a slight sneer.
“I really don’t see how that’s any of your business. Did I ask you, Nadia?”
Nadia blinked, momentarily caught off guard.
“What? There’s no reason to be rude.”
But Gwen was already glaring at her, fists tightening at her sides.
『I can’t stand this bitch… what’s so good about her?』
Another image flickered in her mind—Scott pressing a gentle kiss to Nadia’s forehead.
Her chest tightened, and a very bitter thought bubbled to the surface.
『Why does he do romantic things with her so easily, but not with me? I’m his first kiss. I’m his first everything—besides sex, obviously—but he’s never even tried anything with me. I’m not saying he should, like, jump me or something… but a kiss or two wouldn’t hurt.』
Her urge to be more for him refused to perish.
She wanted everything she imagined her relationship would be, but there were always obstacles.
『Sigh~ what’s wrong with me?』
Steadying herself, Gwen’s glare hardened.
“And there’s no fuckin’ reason for you to be talking to me either, so piss off.”
These words came out without a stutter.
She truly meant it.
It left both Scott and Brigid momentarily stunned.
Scott opened his mouth to say something, but Nadia raised a hand to stop him. Her expression was calm, though there was a faint spark of something unreadable in her eyes.
“It’s fine…” Nadia said quietly.
Without another word, Gwen stormed ahead, her face set in a scowl. She caught up with Rhinoman, who was still gawking at the sleek walls and advanced tech like a kid in a candy store.
Brigid watched Gwen leave, then glanced up at Scott.
“What’s her deal?”
Scott sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“I wish I knew.”
He watched Gwen from a distance.
She was fiddling with her bangs, pretending to be engrossed in the surroundings, though it was clear she was trying to distract herself.
The group walked on in silence for a few moments until they reached a massive door.
Rhinoman stopped short, squinting at it. “Huh?”
Before anyone could respond, the door parted open with a smooth hiss, revealing a vast, voluminous laboratory.
The lab was breathtaking.
Its high ceilings stretched into the heavens, and the space was divided into multiple levels.
Each level housed hyper-advanced technology.
Below, sleek vehicles were arranged in neat rows—Scott’s vigilante arsenal, including a high-tech automobile, an off-road tank, and a massive display of weapons. From retractable swords to tonfas and specialized handguns, the collection was amazing.
Several super suit pods lined one wall, each holding variations of Scott’s ATAM series suits.
Rhinoman’s jaw dropped.
“This is… this is insane. Whoa…”
Before anyone could respond, three familiar figures stepped into view: Mr. Sphere, Ruse, and Gadget Girl.
Rhinoman’s eyes widened further.
“No way! They’re here?!”
He whipped around to face Scott.
“It’s really them, aha-ha! I’ve been trying to reach them for days, but I was stuck in the hospital. I thought something might’ve happened to them!”
Nadia stepped forward, then crossed her arms.
“That’s on me. Scott brought them here right after the fight with that Red thing. They’ve been recovering and adjusting to the place since then.”
Rhinoman nodded slowly as relief washed over him.
“Good to know.”
Brigid frowned slightly. “What about Marcus?”
Scott placed a reassuring hand on her head, then gently ruffled her hair.
Unsurprisingly, Brigid bent her head even more and took the hair ruffling like a cute little golden retriever. She even grinned excitedly, as if she were being blessed with a special kind of treatment she had always wanted.
In fact, she got so into it that she held Scott’s hand with both of her hands and kept it pressed against her head so he could continue rubbing her hair.
“Uhhh… Brigid…” said Scott.
He tried to remove his hand, but she wouldn’t budge.
“Brigid?”
“Just one more second, sir!”
She moaned a bit and continued to rub his hand against her head like it was some kind of comb.
Scott used some force and finally pulled his hand away.
This immediately made Brigid frown.
“Shit…”
“What did you say?” Scott gave her a stern look.
Brigid immediately acted like an angel and turned away, twiddling her thumbs.
“Nothing… ✨”
Finally, Scott focused back on her question.
“He’s still in the Recovery Room, but don’t worry. He’s unconscious, but he’s stable. Marcus’s injuries were a bit more severe because of his lower durability, so his recovery’s taking longer. But he’ll be fine. No doubt about it.”
His expression softened.
“I have to make sure he’s fine. Emma didn’t want to leave for her medal ceremony until Marcus was better, but I managed to convince her. I’m glad I did.”
Gwen, who had been quietly observing, suddenly shot Scott a sour look.
“Of course. It’s always about Emma, isn’t it?”
Scott blinked. “Huh?”
Realizing what she’d said, Gwen’s face flushed red.
She folded her arms like a stubborn child and turned away.
“N-, Never mind…”
Scott stared after her, then exhaled a slow breath.
Brigid tilted her head, confused.
“What’s her problem now?”
Scott didn’t answer immediately as his eyes lingered on Gwen who pretended to admire a wall panel.
“I have no idea…”
・・・
The group walked through the expansive laboratory.
Scott glanced at Rhinoman, who was still gawking at everything around him. With a heavy sigh, Scott stepped past Gwen, who stiffened as he moved by, and stood next to Rhinoman.
“Rhinoman…”
Scott spoke firmly.
“You probably don’t realize this, but I saved your life before I got you to the hospital.”
Rhinoman blinked, his wide-eyed expression faltering.
“Wait, what? What do you mean?”
Scott’s gaze stayed steady.
“If I hadn’t carried out treatment on you before I got you to the hospital, it’s possible they wouldn’t have had the facilities to treat you. Hell, they might not have even tried. You’re just a newbie hero. You don’t have the fame or connections that make people prioritize you.”
Rhinoman’s shoulders slumped slightly.
“I… I didn’t think about that.”
Scott’s tone softened, but his words remained firm.
“Well, you should. Because out there, it’s not just villains who’ll let you die. The system will, too, if it doesn’t see enough value in you.”
Rhinoman nodded slowly.
“Harsh…” said Nadia.
Scott turned his attention to the others.
His eyes landed on Gadget Girl, whose small frame seemed to shrink further under his gaze.
“Gadget Girl… I got a special scar-dampening gel for you. It helped remove all your scars. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s scars on women.”
Gadget Girl’s eyes widened, and she immediately bowed her head several times as her voice quivered.
“Sh-, Sh… thank you, sir! I-, I’m really grateful for that! A-, And for letting me use all your tech here!”
Scott chuckled softly.
“It’s fine. Just don’t break anything.”
Gadget Girl straightened.
Her cheeks reddened as she fidgeted with her hands.
It was clear she was an awkward mouse around people like Scott.
Meanwhile, Gwen instinctively rubbed the side of her arm.
『He’s right about that… If it weren’t for him, those burns I got would’ve left me looking like a freak for life. But now? Now I have my face back… Maybe I should stop looking for more and just be glad Scott still sees me as important, even after all the trouble I cause him.』
Scott’s gaze moved to Ruse next.
“Ruse, you had 32 broken bones and severe internal bleeding. But you’re standing here now because I handled it.”
Ruse didn’t say a word. His head dipped in a slow nod.
Finally, Scott turned to Mr. Sphere.
“And you… You lost both your arms.”
The room seemed to hold its breath as Scott continued.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t help you recover them, but at least the cybernetic replacements will increase your efficiency with your sphere powers.”
Mr. Sphere nodded. “Thank you. I owe you.”
Scott took a step back as his eyes swept over the group.
He crossed his arms.
“One way or another, all of you owe me your lives. And I’m not stupid enough to not collect favors when they’re due.”
Rhinoman’s face twisted in surprise.
“Wait, you’re gonna… take money from us? I don’t even have enough to support my family, let alone pay back all those hospital bills! Registered heroes get free treatment from the Hero Agency! That’d be much be—”
“Wait.”
Scott’s single word cut through Rhinoman’s panic and silenced him instantly.
Scott’s tone shifted, firm but not unkind.
“You all showed me something out there. You proved that you’re heroes for more than just fame or money. That’s the kind of people I can trust to fight alongside me.”
He gestured to the lab around them.
“Here, you’ll have all the sponsors you need. All I’m asking in return is for you to join me as the first official members of the Overwatch Agency—a body that’ll stand as the true image of ideal heroism.”
He held out a hand.
“So, what do you say? Is that fine?”
There was no hesitation.
One by one, the newbie heroes placed their hands on top of Scott’s. Rhinoman, Gadget Girl, Ruse, and Mr. Sphere all looked at Scott with a newfound sense of purpose.
Brigid eagerly joined in. So did Nadia.
Scott’s eyes shifted to Gwen, who stood a few feet away, arms crossed and lips pursed.
“Come oooon~”
He spoke with much tease.
“You’re not gonna join in?”
Gwen scoffed and turned her head away.
“As if you’d want a nuisance on your team.”
Scott smirked.
“Come on~. Where’s the pant-sniffing pervert I kn—”
Before he could finish, Gwen rushed forward as her cheeks burned red. She slapped her hand on top of the stack and glared at him.
“Alright, alright, alright! Just—just don’t bring that up every microsecond, okay?”
Her voice wavered with embarrassment, but her eyes held a deep, unspoken emotion as they locked onto Scott’s.
Nadia watched the two with a faint, forced smile.
