Chapter 72: Missing Heroine, Freaky Heroine!
Crowe Manor, Meteor Hill…
Brigid sat on the cold metallic surface of a medical bed.
Her legs swung idly as the countless wires and plugs connected her to the machines around her.
High-tech headgear bristling with sensors rested snugly on her head as its tangled mess of cables snaked into consoles buzzing with activity.
She stared at the ceiling with a blank expression as her vibrant green eyes remained steady.
Scientists walked around her as their murmured discussions mixed with the steady hum of machines. Screens flashed complex data and showed erratic, almost incomprehensible brainwave patterns.
From the far corner of the room, Adira stood with her arms crossed as she bit her lip impatiently.
“What’s the status so far?”
One of the lead scientists—a wiry man with thick-rimmed glasses—looked up from his console.
There was such a wonder and unease in his eyes.
“It’s… unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Her mind doesn’t seem to operate on a third-dimensional framework. It’s almost as if her brain is tuned to dimensions beyond what we can comprehend. Like… she’s a higher-dimensional entity forced into a third-dimensional vessel.”
Adira raised an eyebrow. “You’re sure about that?”
The scientist gestured at the monitor.
“Look here. These brainwave patterns are impossible in a standard human brain. The oscillations don’t align with any known neurological functions. If I had to guess, her mind could be processing information from dimensions we can’t perceive. This level of complexity shouldn’t exist in a three-dimensional being.”
Adira’s black-painted lips curled slightly. “Interesting.”
Brigid yawned loudly.
“Ugh, I’m so tired of this. Can we stop already? I wanna see Nightwatch. You promised me, remember?”
Adira’s gaze sharpened, and she placed a hand on her massive hip.
“I didn’t promise you anything, sweetheart. I said we were headed to Meteor City, and you assumed that meant I’d take you to him.”
Brigid groaned as she crossed her arms.
“Fair enough. But still, this is so boring.”
The scientist hesitated before glancing at Adira.
“Ma’am, if I may… I don’t think we should keep probing her mind like this. As fascinating as her brain is, the more we train it, the more dangerous she could become. If her consciousness evolves any further, she might not just manipulate her mind—she could potentially control… well, reality itself.”
Adira stepped closer as her heels clicked sharply against the tiled floor. Her slender fingers reached up to caress the scientist’s cheek with an unnervingly gentle touch.
“You’ll be a good boy and keep working, won’t you?”
Barely any man could resist her silk-smooth voice.
The scientist turned red as a nervous smile spread across his tired face.
“Y-, Yes, of course. I can do that.”
Adira’s thumb traced his lips, and for a brief, tantalizing moment, he thought she might kiss him.
Instead, she gave his cheek a playful pat.

“Good boy~ Now, get back to work.”
Flustered but obedient, the scientist returned to his station.
Adira’s expression turned cold as her phone buzzed in her pocket.
She answered it and stepped out of the room.
“What’s the status, Red?”
A soft, masculine voice came through the line.
“Nightwatch and Deathmark took down Division F. Freed all 453 kids stored there. Most of ’em are still pumped full of the meta-drug, though. If they’re not stabilized soon, they’ll probably die. All the tech and meta-drugs were seized by the cops.”
Adira’s lips curved into a faint smile.
“If all 453 of them die, all the better. No witnesses. I’ll have our mole in the Hero Agency ensure the equipment and meta-drugs are… misplaced.”
Red chuckled darkly. “You don’t seem too bothered.”
Adira let out a soft laugh.
“Of course not. The HVC Warehouse was just a test. I wanted to see how sharp Nightwatch’s deduction skills were and how vast his information network could reach. That wasn’t the main facility. Just a decoy.”
Red whistled. “You sacrificed over 400 kids just to size up your opponent? Harsh.”
“Necessary…” Adira replied coolly.
Then, her tone became slightly more serious.
“What about the technophages? Any luck?”
Red sighed. ”
“The green host is stabilizing. Few more weeks, and he’ll hit 99% synchronization. But the blue technophage egg? Still no sign of it. Can’t track its energy—it’s like something’s blocking it.”
Adira pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Sigh~ Keep searching. I want results, Agent Red.”
“Got it.”
The line went dead.
Adira turned back toward the lab, only for the lead scientist to burst out of the room.
“She’s gone! SHE’S GOOOONE!!”
The man’s face was pale with panic.
Adira’s eyes narrowed. “What do you mean gone?”
“The subject! Brigid! She… she flew out the window!”
Adira rushed into the lab.
Her heels clacked loudly as she scanned the room.
The window was open and the cool night breeze swept in.
But… no sign of Brigid.
She pressed a hand to her face in exasperation.
“She’s probably gone to look for that damn Nightwatch.”
Her lips curled into a smirk despite her frustration.
“Well, this should be… entertaining.”

Nightwatch’s Warehouse, Meteor City…
Scott paced around dark space of his warehouse.
He circled Brigid, who was seated cross-legged on a squeaky swivel chair, spinning lazily to follow his every move.
He lips pressed into a line beneath his mask.
『What am I supposed to do with her?』
On the other hand, Brigid looked entirely too comfortable as her bright green eyes glued to him like a hawk watching its prey. Every time he took a step, she rotated the chair with her feet to match him while a faint smile tugged at her lips.
“Can you stop that?” Scott muttered in a clipped tone.
“Stop what?” Brigid asked innocently.
She even twirled the chair again.
Scott stopped dead in his tracks.
He turned to face her directly.
“This! The staring, the spinning—it’s making me angry.”
Brigid grinned mischievously.
“Then stop moving, and I’lI stop spinning.”
Letting out a sharp exhale, Scott marched up to her and placed his gloved hands firmly on her shoulders to stop the chair from turning.
“Stay still──!!”
The moment his hands made contact, Brigid’s eyes widened like saucers.
Her lips parted, and she let out a dramatic gasp.
“Lord N-, Nightwatch touched me! AGAIN!”
She shrieked as her voice echoed through the warehouse.
Scott froze.
Before he could say a word, a sudden splat sounded as a violent stream of blood shot from her nostrils and stained her shirt and skirt. She moaned deeply and tilted her head back with an almost euphoric expression.
Soon, her wet tongue was also hanging out.
“Wh-, What the hell is wrong with you?!”
Scott stumbled back.
He even pointed an accusatory finger at her.
“Why’re you having a nosebleed?!”
Brigid clamped a hand over her face as blood dripped through her fingers while her other hand waved dismissively.
“Oh, my prince, my glorious, blue-eyed savior! Never in a thousand years did I imagine I’d be touched so… so sensually! It’s marvelous! Absolutely marvelous!”
She moaned again as her head lolled back.
A mentally exhausted Scott adjusted his mask to make sure it was still firmly in place.
“I didn’t touch you sensually, you lunatic! Stop making me sound like some kind of creep!”
Brigid sniffled as the nosebleed finally slowed, then wiped the blood off with the sleeve of her white button-up shirt.
She didn’t even care about the stains.
Instead, she quickly shot out of her chair and dropped to her knees in front of him, clasping her hands together like a desperate worshiper.
“Now that you’ve graced me with your presence, Lord Nightwatch, the only right thing to do is to call forth the Great Ritual!”
Scott tilted his head, eyeing her warily. “What… ritual?”
Brigid’s face lit up with excitement as she slid a hand under her skirt.
Scott’s eyes went wide with alarm, and he immediately turned his back on her.
“I’m gonna catch a case if this goes on any longer…”
There was a rustling sound, and when Scott dared to peek over his shoulder, she was holding a bright pink dildo triumphantly in the air.
Perhaps the dildo itself wasn’t even scary.
Maybe it was the level of confidence with which she held it… as if she was lifting a trophy.
“What in the great name of Diogenes?!”
Scott shouted as he stumbled several steps back.
Blushing furiously, Brigid pulled down her skirt and revealed pristine white panties.
“Don’t worry, my prince! I’II just strap this on and—”
“STOP RIGHT THERE!”
Scott interrupted, throwing his hands out in front of him as if warding off an attack.
Undeterred, Brigid began strapping on the dildo with alarming determination.
The contraption bounced comically as she secured it.
“Once I’m ready, I’II sodomize Lord Nightwatch and bask in his glorious blessings!”
Scott clutched his head in disbelief.
“Sodomize?! What the hell are you even talking about?! I don’t even have a religion!”
Brigid’s cheeks flushed deeper as her green eyes sparkled with fervor.
“Religion is whatever you make of it, my Lord! Don’t worry if you’ re not comfortable with this, you can strap on one of these, and double penetrate me! I have no qualms in gifting the virginity of both holes to you, my lord!”
“DOUBLE?! STOP SAYING WEIRD THINGS!”
Brigid giggled like a love-drunk fool as she stood, the dildo bouncing with each step she took toward him. Her hands stretched out while her fingers trembled with questionable excitement.
“Come, my prince! Let me offer myself to you in this most holy of──!!”
“ENOUGH!”
Scott finally snapped. His fist came down in a decisive thwack on the top of her head.
Brigid crumpled to the floor and clutched her head.
“Ahhhh──♡♡!!”
Instead of being angry, however, she let out a pleased hiss through her teeth.
“Ye~sss! Punish me more, Lord Nightwatch! Handle me like the filthy rag you use to clean your toilet!”
Scott took more steps back as his pale complexion somehow grew even paler.
“You’ re insane! Get back to your seat! NOW!”
Brigid pouted and rubbed her head but obediently returned to the swivel chair.
As she spun in slow circles once again, Scott slumped against a nearby table and ran a hand down his face.
『Why me?』
He stared at the absurdly bright pink object still strapped to Brigid’s crotch.
He pointed at it like a judge delivering a final sentence.
“Take that off. Now.”
Brigid’s cheeks turned a shade of red that rivaled the streaks of blood still drying on her shirt. She fidgeted while glancing between him and the offending object.
“A-, Are you sure?”
She sounded very uncertain.
“You just told me to sit down a minute ago, and I don’t want to make you mad again…”
Scott sighed heavily as his gloved hand dragged down his masked face again.
“I’m not mad… I’m just… not used to this level of crazy. And trust me, that’s saying something.”
She tilted her head, and her lips twitched upward into a faint smile. Despite his exasperation, Scott couldn’t hide the faint grin tugging at his lips beneath the mask—not that she could see it. But Brigid must’ve caught something in his blue eyes, because her expression softened.
“Alright…” she said finally. “I’ll take it off.”
Her hands reached down, but instead of unstrapping the dildo, she hooked her thumbs under the waistband of her panties and started pulling them down.
“NOT THAT──!”
Scott’s panicked shout echoed off the warehouse walls.
“Not the panties, you crazy bitch! I’m talking about the toy strapped to your crotch!”
Brigid froze, then glanced down at the bouncing pink dildo still secured in place.
“Ohhhhhh. That makes sense.”
“For fuck’s sake…”
Scott groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Without further fuss, Brigid unstrapped the dildo, holding it up triumphantly like a child showing off a crayon drawing.
“Done!”
Before she could say anything else, Scott yanked her skirt off the floor and tossed it straight at her face. She caught it with both hands and quickly began pulling it back on.
As she fumbled with the buttons, Scott crossed his arms and stared at her with tired face.
“So…”
He talked slowly.
“… do you always walk around carrying… that?”
Brigid shook her head as she secured her skirt in place.
“Of course not! I only carry it three times a week.”
Scott blinked, then groaned.
“Three times a week? That’s still insane…”
He threw his hands up in frustration.
“Even thinking about carrying that thing in public for a minute is insane! And you’re out here acting like it’s a normal grocery item or something!”
Brigid giggled, unbothered.
“I guess I’m just a bit eccentric.”
“A bit?!”
Finally, Brigid finished buttoning her skirt.
She smoothed it out with her hands and stood straight, looking entirely too pleased with herself.
But her shirt was still streaked with blood.
Scott sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
“You can’t sleep in that shirt. Gimme a sec, I’ll find you something clean.”
Before he could take a step, Brigid darted in front of him and spread her arms wide like a barrier.
“No!”
Scott raised an eyebrow. “No?”
There was something fierce and desperate in her eyes as she stepped closer.
“Now that I’ve finally met you—after you ignored all my messages, all my attempts to talk to you—I can’t waste this chance!”
Scott tilted his head.
Brigid clenched her fists.
Her voice trembled with emotion.
“I want to be a hero! Not the kind plastered on TV or worshiped by the media. I want to be the kind of hero you are… the kind who saved me when I was a kid. A symbol of peace who does good because it’s right.”
Her green eyes bored into his.
“You’re the only one who can teach me. Please, Lord Nightwatch, show me how to be that hero!”
Scott’s holoscope buzzed, and the System’s familiar voice echoed in his head.
[Ding! New quest: Help the Mindbender Heroine become a better hero. Reward: 500,000 credits.]
Scott rubbed the back of his neck.
“Tch… Of course.”
He sighed again, scratching his head before looking at her.
“Alright…”
His voice was a little softer.
“We’ll talk in the morning. For now, let’s get some rest.”
Brigid’s eyes lit up like fireworks.
“You mean… you’re not sending me away?”
Her voice quivered with hope.
Scott placed a hand on her head, ruffling her hair lightly.
“I’m not making any promises. I’ll decide in the morning.”
Brigid clasped her hands together.
“Thank you! Thank you, Lord Nightwatch! I promise I’ll be on my best behavior! I won’t do anything crazy, I swear!”
There was such gratitude in her voice.
Scott yawned, waving her off as he turned to leave.
“Yeah, yeah, just don’t bleed all over the place again. And stop calling me Lord Nightwatch.”
Brigid’s cheeks turned pink, and she clutched her heart dramatically.
“Do you mean… I can call you Daddy~?”
Without turning back, Scott grabbed a cola can from a nearby table and lobbed it at her head.
“Be. A. Good. Girl.”
The can thudded against her forehead, and she winced, rubbing the spot as she pouted.
“Yes, sir…”
