Chapter 197: All This Wasn’t A Coincidence!
Despite still having many questions for Ruediger, Lariette shooed him to his bedroom after treating his back. The bruised area had changed color from red to purple, but the swelling had reduced a little.
Aside from putting a warm compress on Ruediger’s bruises, Lariette also applied a topical ointment procured at a pharmacy in town. Paul helped her get one earlier today, including a few other items.
“You can’t back down,” Lariette told Ruediger as they left the living room, “I’ll drive tomorrow.”
Helpless chuckles rolled out of Ruediger’s mouth as he heard Lariette talk with such a stern tone. Still, he thought the way she tried to act tough was adorable.
Lariette was talking about their driving arrangement for tomorrow morning. Ruediger was not suited to sit behind the wheel for a long drive. She barely managed to persuade him to let her drive instead.
“I won’t,” Ruediger lightly shook his head, a grin tugging on his lips, “Hmm… If Aunt Mel and Uncle Paul heard this, they’d think their Little Lettie is being so caring for her husband again.”
“…go to bed!”
Her cheeks flushed, Lariette shot daggers at Ruediger before hurriedly going inside her late grandmother’s bedroom. His laughter echoed from behind and then, muffled once she closed the door.
“Good night, Lettie,” Ruediger raised his tone, his eyes staring at the door, “Have sweet dreams. And thank you!”
“Good night.”
Lariette’s voice echoed from behind the door, deepening Ruediger’s smile. Turning around, he also entered the bedroom. The hallway lights showered onto his crimson locks before he vanished inside.
The clock would hit midnight soon. Both of them needed a decent rest before being on a long drive tomorrow. Then, they could fully rest on Sunday before another work week began.
The new school term began this Monday. Lariette would be back to teaching as usual. Many tasks, even outside her regular teaching, were waiting for her.
Unfortunately, the lady found it hard to sleep.
Lying still on her back, Lariette kept staring at the ceiling. Her thoughts wandered to the moment Ruediger sang while plucking the guitar, also when he admitted to her suspicions.
‘I really can’t believe this!’
Rolling to her right side, Lariette squirmed, her feet kicking under the blanket. She recalled how embarrassed she felt after discovering Ruediger’s hidden persona.
Really, she didn’t know how many times she blushed tonight.
Lariette accidentally found one of Mr. Dreamer’s videos a decade ago. Since then, she had been following his channel, eagerly waiting for each of his new releases.
‘Wait… Does it mean he has talent in drawing too? Eddy… I mean, Mr. Dreamer said he drew the art for each cover.’
Blinking, Lariette unconsciously covered her mouth. She couldn’t help but recall each simple yet beautiful drawing Mr. Dreamer had for his song covers.
At one time, Lariette commented, asking Mr. Dreamer about the drawings as well as complimenting him. He replied not long after, saying he was honored to know she liked his drawings.
‘Maddie really hid it well. Haha… all this time, I’ve been fangirling her own cousin.’
Madeline had never said any bad thing when Lariette gushed over Mr. Dreamer. Now that the truth was out, she believed that her friend might suffer internally because of the ongoing praises to her cousin.
There was a saying. Even if the whole world thought one was the most handsome and beautiful, their siblings wouldn’t ever think that way.
Haha… Knowing the bantering nature of Madeline and Ruediger’s relationship, Lariette believed that was the truth.
‘Aaaa! I need to check!’
Unable to resist herself, Lariette grabbed her phone and opened Mr. Dreamer’s VibeTube’s channel. Pursing her lips, her eyes scanned the colorful thumbnail arts that appeared on her screen.
‘His latest cover… the wedding song!’
Lariette clicked on the thumbnail of Mr. Dreamer’s most recent release—a wedding song cover titled Forever Starts Today[01].

Thump. Thump.
Her eyelashes fluttered, Lariette sensed her heartbeat quickening in the next second. Her eyes lingered on the art for the wedding song, showing a hand illustration of a man and a woman wearing their wedding rings.
‘…why did I never notice it? I mean… I did, but… I thought it’s a coincidence!’
Narrowing her eyes, Lariette looked closely at the art.
The pair of rings resembled the ones they chose when buying their wedding bands weeks ago. And the blue gems drawn were similar to their sapphire stones.
Lariette exhaled a sigh, her entire face flushing red. She was very excited to hear Mr. Dreamer covering a wedding song and being uploaded on the day she got married to Ruediger.
It turned out… everything was not a coincidence!
‘Did he… deliberately cover that song and upload it because of our marriage? But… why?’
Chewing her lower lip, Lariette couldn’t keep her mind away from these so-called coincidences. She believed Ruediger was conscious as he picked the song, the very first wedding song over a decade of him opening his channel.
‘No, let’s stop. Just stop thinking about this.’
Lariette shook her head, trying to chase any thoughts about Ruediger as Mr. Dreamer away. Even though she had finally calmed down when talking to him earlier, the shock hadn’t actually vanished entirely.
‘Easy, take it easy.’
Patting her cheeks, Lariette tried to shove the embarrassing thoughts to the back of her mind. She put her phone down, thinking she wouldn’t be able to sleep if she continued looking at Mr. Dreamer’s channel.
‘Sleep, sleep. Go to sleep.’
Lariette shut her eyes tight, chanting the same words to lure her to sleep. The clock ticked faintly from the wall, conveying the ongoing motion of time.
Eventually, the lady drifted to sleep, her chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. Her breathing was faint, accompanying the sound of the clock ticking and the crickets chirping outside.
The moonlight shyly peeked through the tiny gap between the curtains, illuminating the lady’s face. As she slept, her lips curled into a smile, signifying she had a good dream.
