Chapter 212: The Upcoming Enchanted Garden Event
Stirring the slightly melted shaved ice, Lariette took another bite. She almost made a little, quick dance while still sitting on the chair.
Her mood was good today, but this sweet and cold dessert made her happier.
“Oh,” Lariette blinked, suddenly realizing something. She stared at Ruediger across the table, “Eddy, did Maddie text you? About her cafe’s new event?”
Ruediger paused from eating, still chewing the bite. His eyes gleamed with mirth as he was reminded of the particular event.
“Do you mean the ‘Enchanted Garden’ event? I’ve seen the new posts on the cafe’s account,” answered Ruediger after swallowing the sweet red beans, “It’ll be held next Saturday, right?”
Lariette quickly nodded, “Yup! Maddie wants us to join. She said it’s better if we go there at night. The main highlight is at nine, but she keeps it secret.”
Madeline had been busy recently with a new event for Suit & Tie[01]. The butler cafe often held events as an attempt to attract more customers, including showing their appreciation to the regular ones.
The cafe usually organized themed events, some of them were seasonal and holiday celebrations, while the others could have unique and fantasy themes.
On the previous Valentine’s Day, the female customers received personalized notes from the butlers. And, even though Velondia didn’t celebrate White Day like in Japan, the cafe held a knight-themed event where the butlers dressed as noble knights pledging their service to the ladies.
Everything was beyond fantastic!
A whimsical tea party, vampire masquerade ball and haunted manors were among the previous events. Not to forget, the royal banquet night, steampunk soiree, celestial ball and magical academy day.
Those events were not exclusively for females only, but also for couples. Back then, Lariette used to invite Damien to join her, only for her to receive rejection after rejection.
“Are you six? Still playing dress up games like that? Try to be more mature, can’t you?”
Damien’s words were hurtful, thus, Lariette stopped inviting him. She had been hoping to spend more time with him, but he disliked such events, calling them childish.
Urgh… This was so sickening.
Her heart, mind and even liver hurt whenever she recalled the cheating trash. Inwardly shaking her head, she threw the image of the scummy man to the back of her mind.
Lariette didn’t know what happened to Damien after his exiled to Chile, nor did she care. One thing was for certain, that scum hadn’t been living his best life anymore.
Ruediger smiled seeing the anticipation on Lariette’s face. Putting his spoon in the bowl, he asked, “You’ve joined the previous ones, right? Did you enjoy it?”
Ruediger had never appeared during those events, but he knew Lariette attended them without fail. Seeing her in the photos and videos made him certain she enjoyed her time, but he still wanted to ask her directly.
“Of course!” Lariette replied without missing a beat, “Hehe, Maddie and her staff always did so well for the events. I believe this one will be another spectacular one.”
Drawing his lips into a smile, Ruediger said, “Then, we should go. The theme sounds very fairytale-like. I read the post. Have you thought of what to wear?”
Ruediger recalled the posts being promoted by Suit & Tie’s social media accounts. They encouraged the attendants to wear their prettiest and coolest dresses.
Still, the cafe wouldn’t enforce a strict dress code. They would prepare a few, especially for the customers who wanted to take memorable photos but couldn’t afford to rent or buy those elaborate dresses.
Lariette tilted her head, wondering about Ruediger’s question. She answered after a moment, “I’ll just wear the dress you got me. It’s already so pretty. It’s a shame I’ve only worn it once.”
Ruediger blinked. Lariette’s words shattered the image he had just weaved in his mind. He actually wanted to invite her for a dress shopping. Edenia Avenue had various good selections of formal dresses.
“You wanna wear that dress again? The blue one?” Ruediger asked for clarification.
“Yup! I’ll settle on that one,” Lariette nodded. She chuckled softly, “I can add a few accessories to make it fairytale-like. What do you think?”
“Y-yes! That’s a good idea!” Ruediger covered his mouth, slightly bashful for almost stuttering. He added cautiously, “Should we go look for the accessories together? I think I can do the same for my suit.”
“Hehe, sure~”
Ruediger smiled in relief upon getting Lariette’s answer. He silently watched her finish the rest of her shaved ice, his thoughts wandered to the coming event of the butler cafe.

What kind of highlight did Madeline and her staff have planned?
Usually, it would be something romantic.
Pursing his lips, Ruediger couldn’t help but anticipate the event to come soon. He couldn’t wait to participate in it with Lariette. Perhaps, they would get even closer than now.
Then… the promise to go to an amusement park together. Maybe they could schedule it after the event.
Not long after, Ruediger and Lariette left the dessert shop. The weather was still warm as the sun cast its light, radiated with the heat.
Instead of returning home immediately, Lariette and Ruediger headed to the grocery store next door to get some items. They stood side by side as they looked at the things they wanted to buy.
“Will you be busier later? How about next week?”
Ruediger glanced at Lariette as they stood opposite the rack displaying fresh fruits. He took a packet of mixed berries, intending to make new compote.
“We’ll start to discuss more seriously about the incoming Sports Day,” Lariette said truthfully. She grabbed a bag of red apples, “I hope we can finalize the plan before the end of this month.”
As they walked to the next aisle, Lariette explained further about her task for this Sports Day. Ruediger silently listened to her, the smile never left his lips.
“The eighth graders are always excited to open the stalls. They get to sell items or services to the visitors. The profits will go to their clubs’ funds.”
“I’ll oversee them with Nora and Howard. Ah, you’ve met Nora before when you came with me to school.”
“We don’t want to rush the students, so it’s better to start early. They can plan better that way too. The clubs’ teachers will supervise the preparations.”
Seeing how excited Lariette was, Ruediger couldn’t help but look forward to Sports Day to come. If he was allowed to, he wished to attend the middle school’s Sport Day.
Wouldn’t it be a good way to nurture their relationship further?
“…can outsiders come? I mean, aside from the parents and guardians?”
Unable to stop himself, Ruediger asked, his voice cautious. He smiled nervously when Lariette threw him a knowing look.
“Why? Are you gonna show your athletic skills off to the kids? Hehe, you can come if you want to. I might as well drag you as my assistant.”
“That sounds like a good plan.”
Lariette and Ruediger exchanged laughter. Being in happy moods, they returned home with a small bag of groceries each.
The sun had dipped lower in the sky, waiting for the hour to disappear behind the horizon.
As the passage of time continued flowing without even a moment’s rest, the weekend graced its presence before a brand new week began.
