Chapter 213: Ensuring Their First Visit Memorable
<.Seacastle, Saturday.>

Almost an entire week had passed since the day Lorianne officially enrolled in the new kindergarten. It also marked the completion of the renovations for her bedroom and playroom in this villa.

As for the one at Elysian Heights, the renovation was still ongoing. Nathaniel tried not to put any pressure on the team because everything still progressed smoothly.

Nathaniel stood by the large glass window, staring out at the endless horizon where the blue ocean met the blue sky. The afternoon sun cast a warm glow over the waves, leaving shimmers in its wake.

‘They should arrive soon, right?’

Nathaniel was waiting for Elsie and Lorianne’s arrival in Seacastle. For the very first time, the mother and daughter would grace their presence here. They would also stay the night.

Nathaniel invited Elsie and Lorianne over once he made sure the renovations were completed properly. He couldn’t wait to show them around the villa, including the lavender garden and the newly renovated rooms.

Turning away from the expansive window, Nathaniel exhaled softly. He and Tristan had spent the entire morning ensuring everything was perfect. From checking the tea set, to the freshly baked pastries by a chef and the lavender garden outside.

Russell and Andrea had flown back to Norvonna. Despite feeling disappointed because they couldn’t meet Elsie and Lorianne, the husband and wife left a huge pile of gifts for them.

‘…I’m getting more nervous.’

Shaking his head, Nathaniel raked his finger through his ebony locks. He trusted his bodyguards to bring Elsie and Lorianne here safely.

In the beginning, Nathaniel wanted to go and pick Elsie and Lorianne up himself. But he was stopped by Elsie, saying it would just exhaust him.

After some time, Nathaniel and Elsie compromised by having his bodyguards chauffeur her and Lorianne to Seacastle. According to the vehicle tracker, they might arrive in less than ten minutes.

“Mr. Nate, you’re so tense! Loosen up!”

Tristan appeared, coming from the kitchen. Laughter rolled out of his mouth as he saw how stiff Nathaniel was, standing near the window.

Looking at the much younger man, Nathaniel tried to smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. Once again, he exhaled, letting out a suppressed sigh.

“Do I look that tense?” asked Nathaniel, his voice cautious. He put both hands deep into the pockets of his pants, curling his fingers into fists.

Tristan chuckled. Crossing his arms over his chest, he openly looked at Nathaniel from head to toe. A mirthful glint flickered in his eyes.

Tristan had known Nathaniel for over a decade now. The former was still a young boy when the Faulkners introduced their adoptive son to him and his parents.

Throughout the years, Tristan deeply admired Nathaniel for his intelligence, leadership skills and his ability to withstand pressure. He never thought he would witness the day the man looked so nervous and vulnerable.

Approaching Nathaniel, Tristan said, “I’ve never seen you like this, Mr. Nate. Come on, relax a bit. You might faint out of suspense at this rate.”

Tristan knew the guests Nathaniel were waiting for right now. He had met and interacted with Elsie a few times back when he was still a teenager.

It was just that… never did Tristen expect to hear about Lorianne, Nathaniel and Elsie’s child.

Tristan’s teasing words, laced with sincerity, earned a faint smile on Nathaniel’s lips. He knew the young man was speaking his heart.

“I was also this nervous before,” Nathaniel rubbed his face, his palm moving across his head, “When I first met Elsie again, and… when she brought Lorrie to meet me.”

Sometimes, Nathaniel couldn’t believe that not even one month had passed from the time he was reunited with Elsie, including meeting Lorianne for the first time. So many things happened within a short period.

Nevertheless, Nathaniel wouldn’t trade this moment for the world. Being together with Elsie and Lorianne made him immensely grateful for this miraculous chance.

The smile on Tristan’s lips softened. He was glad to see that Nathaniel seemed to be less withdrawn than usual. And, he was not the only one who was glad of his positive changes.

“You’ve prepared everything well, Mr. Nate. I know they’ll appreciate what you’ve done. Don’t worry about it.”

Tristan spoke with much confidence, referring to the effort Nathaniel showered in making sure Elsie and Lorianne’s first visit would be memorable.

The gnawing uncertainty in Nathaniel’s heart seemed to fade the more he listened to Tristan. He actually wanted to laugh at himself for once again being swept in the current of his negative thoughts.

“Thank you, Tristan,” Nathaniel exhaled, “I really need this pep talk.”

Tristan shrugged, “I’m just doing it on behalf of Mr. Rudy. He told me to make sure you’re not making a fool out of yourself. Mind you, those are literally his words.”

Blinking, Nathaniel laughed in helplessness. He didn’t expect that Ruediger had conspired with Tristan. He reminded himself to contact his best friend as soon as he could.

Ding!

Nathaniel flinched for a second. He hurriedly looked at his phone, his eyes widening.

“They’re here.”

Without waiting for Tristan, Nathaniel rushed out of the lounge, heading to the main entrance of the villa. He didn’t hear footsteps from behind.

Tristan stayed instead, not intending to show himself yet. He wanted to give more privacy to the family of three before he appeared.

Pulling the door open, Nathaniel stepped out. He stood under the extended roof, his eyes following the black sedan that rolled toward the porch.

Elsie and Lorianne were here!

Nathaniel inhaled deeply. Once again, his nerves spiked, but he quickly composed himself. He began to smooth the front of his shirt, his heart thumping rapidly in the confines of his chest.

‘Stay calm. Stay calm. Don’t you dare make a mistake!’

Nathaniel inwardly scolded himself. Once the car pulled up, he walked toward the vehicle. He put on a smile, hoping to show his best self to Elsie and Lorianne.

Reaching out a hand, Nathaniel opened the car door. The first thing he saw was Lorianne’s small, curious face peeking out. She was strapped to the booster seat.

“Daddy! Lorrie and Mommy are here!”

“Hello, my little princess,” Nathaniel grinned as he stared at Lorianne, “You’re cute in that dress, Lorrie.”

“Hehehe~ Mommy make this dress for me.”

Lorianne giggled while proudly telling Nathaniel about her soft blue dress. The man shifted his eyes toward the other side of the car, seeing Elsie, who had emerged from the vehicle.

“Good afternoon, Niel,” Elsie greeted Nathaniel as she rounded the car, approaching him, “Lorrie has been so excited. She can’t wait to see the surprises you have for her.”

“Good afternoon, Elsie,” Nathaniel smiled, feeling a little shy. He glanced from Elsie to Lorianne, “I’m glad to hear that. First, let’s get inside.”

“Okay, Daddy~”

Nathaniel unbuckled the straps, freeing Lorianne from the child’s car seat. The little one gave him a peck on his cheek, receiving one in return.

“Daddy, your house is so big!”

Being carried by Nathaniel, Lorianne’s curious eyes moved in every direction. Her words and actions elicited more laughter from him.

“Wait until you see the inside.”

Nathaniel chuckled. Glancing at Elsie, he saw her staring at the lavender bed surrounding the yard. Admiration flickered in her eyes.

“Elsie, I’ve always wanted to show you this,” Nathaniel spoke, trying to suppress the emotions within him, “I never thought this day would come.”

Elsie tore her gaze from the swaying lavender stalks in the sea breeze, letting her warm green eyes meet Nathaniel’s nervous brown ones.

“I, too… never thought such a day would come.”

Elsie’s softly spoken words sent a spark running through Nathaniel.
