Chapter 237: Like How I Risked Marrying You?
As the weekday reached the end without any more trouble, Lariette pushed her previous tense encounter with Chairman Alvord to the back of her mind. She simply treated him as a random hiccup that tried to ruin her week, but failed miserably.

Lariette and Ruediger were on their way home after having dinner with Chairman Delaney. Because of their amusement park trip tomorrow morning, they didn’t stay as long as usual.

“Later, Grandpa. I’ll get you some souvenirs from the theme park.”

Lariette hugged Chairman Delaney, slightly sad that she couldn’t spend more time with her grandfather tonight like usual. She smiled when he patted her back.

“Have fun, you two,” Chairman Delaney looked from Lariette to Ruediger, “Enjoy the weekend. Hehe, tell me if there’s any fun things happen, okay?”

Ruediger arched his brows, “Like, if Lettie fainted in the haunted house?”

“Hey! Don’t curse me!” Lariette shot Ruediger a glare, she huffed, “I won’t faint. I’m not a coward.”

“Hahaha! Are you sure?” Chairman Delaney laughed out loud, joining Ruediger in teasing Lariette, “When you were in high school, didn’t you…”

“Grandpa! Don’t spill!”

“Hahaha!”

Lariette narrowed her eyes, thinking how much fun these two men had from teasing her. Pouting, she resisted the urge to smack Ruediger’s back. He wiggled his brows, purposely trying to taunt her.

Huh!

After bidding farewell to Chairman Delaney, Lariette and Ruediger headed back to Lumina Spring. The hum of the engine blended with the echoes of the city during a weekend night.

Ruediger drove the truck through the brightly lit streets. The neon signs flickered and the street lamps shone, illuminating the interior of the vehicle.

More vehicles sped down the roads, heading to their respective destinations. Passersby walked on the pedestrian walkways, either alone or in groups.

The dashboard screen glowed, showing the clock had just struck eight-thirty. Lariette and Ruediger had an early dinner with Chairman Delaney tonight because they needed to return home earlier than usual.

“Say,” Ruediger glanced at Lariette, one finger tapping on the steering wheel, “What did Grandpa mean, huh? Did you really faint in a haunted house before?”

Lariette snapped her head toward Ruediger, eyeing him with annoyance, “Not telling you. Never.”

“Hahaha!”

Ruediger burst out laughing, the merry sound drowned the songs played by the radio. Lariette narrowed her eyes before she too, joining him. Her shoulders shook as she laughed.

“We’ll head out at seven-thirty, right? Won’t it be too late?” Lariette mused, referring to their theme park trip tomorrow, “We have the VIP passes. We won’t have any trouble with the lines, right?”

Lariette hadn’t visited an amusement park in ages, she barely recalled the details of her experience going to one. Ruediger informed her that he had gotten special passes for their trip.

Ruediger chuckled, happy to hear the excitement in Lariette’s voice. Glancing at her, his lips quirked into a smile.

“The park opens at nine. We won’t have any trouble, don’t worry. We can grab a quick breakfast there if we arrive early.”

“Really?” Lariette squinted her eyes.

Ruediger shrugged, “Well, I don’t mind even if we can’t skip the lines. A long line will give me more time to convince you to ride the scariest one with me.”

Lariette scoffed, crossing her arms, “You’ve had better luck winning the lucky draw.”

Ruediger laughed, the sound rumbling from his chest, “Oh, come on. Life will be more fun if we take a little risk.”

Tilting her head, Lariette stated, “Like how I risked marrying you? Someone I barely knew?”

“Bingo,” Ruediger nodded in approval. He added jokingly, “This someone you barely knew turns out to be the best househusband for you, isn’t it?”

“Hmm…” Lariette tapped her chin, pretending to ponder, “I guess so.”

Ruediger gasped in mock offense, “You guess so?”

“Hahaha!”

Closing her eyes, Lariette smiled. She was happy because the tension from a few days ago had completely faded, replaced by Ruediger’s usual lighthearted energy.

Fortunately, his mood turned better before their trip to the theme park. She didn’t want him to feel forced if he insisted on going when his mood was still low.

Once they reached the apartment, Ruediger slowed the speed of his truck. The guard easily allowed him entry. He drove toward the basement parking lot.

“Don’t stay up all night reading comics,” Ruediger told Lariette as they walked out of the elevator, “Lest a certain someone will be too sleepy to enjoy the rides.”

“I won’t~” Lariette replied in a sing-song voice. Looking at Ruediger, she said, “Be prepared. I have many~ foods I wanna try. It’s your treat, right?”

The theme park they would go to tomorrow was the one Lariette hadn’t visited before, WonderWhirl Park. It took around forty minutes of a car ride from Lumina Spring.

The place was full of interesting whimsical wonderland, filled with dazzling colors and story-book magic.

Lariette had checked the amusement park’s official website and its social media. Everything there, including the food and drinks, looked magical.

Rainbow swirl donuts, magical mushroom tarts, moonbeam parfait, butterfly bloom tea and many more!

Ruediger clicked his tongue, “You think of food? People go there to play, not to eat.”

“Why?” Lariette protested, “The foods there are so cute! I have to try them all!”

Ruediger laughed in helplessness. He shoved his hands deeper into his pockets, holding back from ruffling Lariette’s hair.

That night, Lariette and Ruediger went to bed early. Once again he reminded her not to stay up late, to which she replied with a glare. His laughter echoed in the hallway as he disappeared inside his room.

‘I think I should wear this.’

Standing in the middle of her ensuite wardrobe, Lariette stared at the outfit of her choice for tomorrow. After thinking for several days, she decided on these mixes and matches.

Lariette picked a cream-colored shirt and loose denim pants in a pastel pink color. For extra warmth when needed, she would bring along a knit cardigan. A pair of comfortable sneakers won over ankle boots.

“Oh, I better bring some extra clothes.”

Smiling to herself, Lariette couldn’t wait for her theme park trip with Ruediger tomorrow. She wondered what kind of magical fun they would have together.
