Chapter 282: Want to Cuddle?
After changing into a comfortable long-sleeved nightgown, Lariette brushed her teeth and washed her face. Dust of blush still lingered on her cheeks as she stared at her reflection in the mirror.
‘I should add one more talent to his list. He’s a good kisser.’
Touching her lower lip, Lariette chuckled at herself. She couldn’t deny how deeply enchanted she was when Ruediger sang his heart earlier.
Driven by the romantic ambiance and the desire in her heart, she crossed another line of physical intimacy. And despite not being ready yet, she believed the last one would come soon.
‘I hope I won’t kick him in my sleep.’
Lariette laughed again at the thought of kicking Ruediger out of bed. Thankfully, she was a calm sleeper. But if he did it to her, she wouldn’t hesitate to return the favor.
Lariette brushed her long hair, making sure she looked presentable. After applying her usual body lotion, she grabbed her favorite pillow and quietly left her bedroom, heading to the one across the hallway.
‘Is he done already?’
Halting her steps before the closed door, Lariette felt her heartbeat picking up its speed. She inwardly scolded herself for acting as if this would be her first time sharing a bed with a man.
Lariette raised her right hand, softly knocking on the door while asking, “Eddy, can I come in?”
“Come in!”
The answer came within a second. Lariette lowered her hand to the door handle. Turning the metal, she slowly pushed the door.
Standing at the threshold of the door, Lariette saw Ruediger sitting before the vanity table with skincare bottles scattering on the surface. A mint green headband pulled his bangs back, allowing him to apply the moisturizer on his face without any obstruction.
“Why don’t you wear a face mask?” Lariette asked teasingly. She stepped forward, finally entering the bedroom. She slowly closed the door.
Ruediger glanced at Lariette, a grin tugging on his lips. While rearranging the bottles on the vanity table, he replied in the same tandem, “My skin is good enough already. Don’t you think so?”
Rolling her eyes, Lariette groaned. Ruediger’s laughter echoed in the bedroom. Removing the headband, he hung it on a hook nearby.
Ruediger stood up from the velvety stool, his eyes remaining on Lariette who stood still near the door. Soft chuckles slipped past his lips.
Instead of telling Lariette to come closer, Ruediger took a few leisure strides toward her. He looked more relaxed than earlier, now donning a crewneck sweatshirt and joggers.
Lariette tilted her chin up once Ruediger stood right before her. The familiar gentle smile hung on his lips. His bangs fell forward as he lowered his gaze, letting their eyes collide.
“Want to chat before sleep, Lettie?” Ruediger began, his tone soft, “You’re still unfamiliar with my bed after all.”
Lariette grinned, “Sounds good.”
Ruediger reached for Lariette’s hand, gently pulling her to the bed. Sitting on the mattress, he asked, “Which side do you prefer? I usually sleep right in the middle.”
Lariette shrugged, “I don’t mind.”
Ruediger arched his brows. His smile turned into a cheeky grin, “Want to cuddle?”
Lariette nodded, “Yes.”
Ruediger laughed softly. Laying on the bed, he propped one arm up to support his head. His other hand patted the side next to him, his lips quirking into a smirk.
Ruediger’s actions elicited chuckles from Lariette. She couldn’t help but picture him having a stem of red rose between his lips.
“Come, my love.”
“You’re cheesy.”
Lariette put the pillow aside and then dived into Ruediger’s arms. She lay her head on his right arm, feeling his muscles tighten. Blinking, her eyes were on the same level as his chest, concealed beneath the thick fabric of his sweatshirt.

In a second, the image of Ruediger in his swimming trunk from their island trip flashed in Lariette’s mind—strong limbs, broad shoulders, defined muscles and tapered waist. Curling her toes, she tried to chase the image away.
Ruediger gently stroked Lariette’s round shoulder, a sense of contentment washed over his heart. Somehow, tonight felt like a dream. With his other hand, he reached for hers, then brought her knuckles close to his lips.
Lariette tilted her chin up, meeting Ruediger’s eyes with hers. She saw the same intensity in his gaze, the same one before their first kiss earlier. The sight of it sped her heartbeat.
“Lettie, may I kiss you again?”
Ruediger’s low, yet hoarse voice echoed in the small space they shared. Lariette blinked, then arched her neck to claim his lips. She sensed him flinched in surprise before he returned the kiss.
Soft, unhurried yet sensual.
Ruediger teased her lower lip, seeking the entrance into her mouth. His hand gently cradled one side of her head, happy when she tried matching the rhyme of his kiss.
Lariette felt as if she melted into a puddle of honey. Ruediger’s familiar clean and minty scent enveloped her in an embrace, the same as his gentle touch.
“Haa…”
Ruediger broke the kiss, leaving them both breathless. His lips tugged into a grin as delight flickered in his emerald eyes. Lariette chuckled softly. For some reason, she felt more comfortable than before.
“Lettie, I’m certainly a valedictorian now, right?”
Rolling to the other side, Lariette covered her mouth, unable to stop herself from laughing. Ruediger answered by hugging her tighter from behind. She squirmed when he suddenly kissed the back of her neck.
“Don’t tease me!” Lariette protested.
“I’m not,” Ruediger answered innocently.
Huffing, Lariette turned over again, glaring at Ruediger who had a wide grin plastered on his face. Lifting one hand, she pinched his cheek, her eyes narrowing.
“Are you that happy, huh?”
Ruediger arched his brows, “What do you think?”
Lariette laughed in helplessness. She nestled deeper into Ruediger’s arms, hugging him in return. Her eyelids drooped slightly as a yawn escaped her lips.
“Enough messing around, sleepyhead,” Ruediger whispered, his voice lacing with mirth, “Good night, Lettie.”
“Good night, Eddy.”
Darkness enveloped the bedroom as Ruediger switched off the lights using a remote control. As Lariette drifted to sleep, she felt him kissing atop her head, instinctively drawing her lips into a soft smile.
