Chapter 294: A Mermaid’s Garden
Before heading to their next stop, Liza let the family of three take a short break. Nathaniel and Elsie didn’t need it, but they paused their activity because of Lorianne.
No matter how energetic the little one was, they knew she required small breaks between the aquarium tour.
Lorianne went to the restroom. Then, Elsie gave her some snacks and drinks, the ones she packed for this trip. They would have lunch at one of the restaurants in this aquarium later.
“Captain Liza, where do we go next?” Lorianne asked, unable to contain her excitement. She tried so hard to hold back when her parents told her to rest even for a bit.
“We’ll visit the Undersea Fantasy Garden,” Liza arched her brows, winking at Lorianne, “You’ll surely love it!”
Indeed. The adorable sea witch fell in love with the place.
Liza guided them to the Undersea Fantasy Garden. The section was so dreamlike, designed to look like a magical forest straight out of a fairytale, but the underwater version.
As they entered, Lorianne gasped in awe. Elsie was also the same. Their eyes widened, flickering with wonder. Nathaniel grinned seeing the mother and daughter’s pair sporting the same look.
The breathtaking space had coral structures, shaped like trees and giant mushrooms. They glowed in hues of teal, lavender and soft pink. Tiny stars seemed to dance along the edges of the coral, projected by the fiber-optic lights.
The floor beneath their feet was soft, made from padded material in blues and greens, mimicking a seabed. Soft music played in the background, mixed with the echo of bubbling water.
“Lorrie, it’s like walking through a mermaid’s garden, right?” Elsie said, laughter lacing her voice.
“Yes, Mommy~ Look at those fishes!”
Lorianne pointed at the coral. Hard plastic fishes of angelfish, clownfish and vibrant tangs, darted in and out of the crevices. Their scales shimmered, catching the light like gemstones.
The little girl was not the only one with questions. The other children were also full of them. Their parents and the staff members couldn’t escape their growing curiosity.
An intrigued yet cautious Lorianne approached the bubble machines, releasing tiny glowing bubbles. As they caught the light, the bubbles cast rainbows on her cheeks, delighting the little one.
“Are these magic bubbles?”
“Maybe from a sea witch’s cauldron,” Nathaniel chuckled.
“Oh~ A sea witch’s cauldron. Ah, Daddy! Look at there!”
At the center of the garden was a storytelling nook. Staff dressed as sea fairies and mermen gathered the children to sit on the seashell-shaped cushions.
Dashing away from her parents and the tour guide, Lorianne quickly sat among them. She was also eager to hear the story.
“This is the tale of a brave little seahorse.”
One of the staff began narrating the story of a seahorse that saved her coral village from a huge shark using kindness. Nathaniel and Elsie watched from a nearby bench, their hands entwined as Lorianne listened intently, her eyes sparkling.
“Mommy, Daddy, the story is so awesome!”
A cheery Lorianne gushed about the tale to Elsie and Nathaniel once the storytelling session ended. She bounced on her toes, causing her dress to flutter around her little calves.
“The seahorse did a great job,” Elsie reached for Lorianne’s head, smoothening her hair, “She was kind and smart, like our dear Lorrie.”
“Hehehe~”
Before the family of three left, Liza led them to the Wishing Tidepool, a shallow interactive exhibit. Children were invited to toss in polished colorful shells and make a Halloween wish.
“I wanna do it!”
The staff member handed Lorianne a shell in the color pink. She clutched it in her small palms while tightly closing her eyes. Then, she tossed it inside the pool.
“What did you wish for, my dear?” Elsie asked Lorianne, intrigued.

The little one grinned, her chubby cheeks flushed, “A dolphin friend, Mommy! Hehe~ I wanna ride on a dolphin.”
“Well,” Nathaniel whistled, scooping Lorianne up, “With that wish, we’d better keep an eye on the bathtub. Who knows? Your dolphin friend will appear soon.”
“Hehehe~”
Nathaniel, Elsie and Lorianne left with a family photo taken by the staff, and handed by Liza. The three of them were framed by glowing coral and fish, evidently enjoying the tour.
After a full morning of wonder and excitement, Liza guided the family of three to the eatery area. Being the weekend, each restaurant, cafe and food kiosk were full of other visitors.
A private dining room at one of the restaurants was included in the VIP package. Nathaniel was glad Elsie and Lorianne could rest comfortably there before resuming their tour. Their pre-ordered lunch would be served as soon as they arrived.
“Please enjoy your lunch,” Liza smiled at the family of three once they reached the restaurant, “I shall return in one hour and a half.”
Lorianne waved at Liza who cheerily returned the gesture. Then, she followed Nathaniel and Elsie into the restaurant. An attendant led them to the dining room, which was more like a lounge.
The spacious chamber was elegantly decorated. Aside from the dining table, it came with a cozy corner, soft lighting and a plush sofa bed.
The moment Lorianne spotted the cushioned space, she made a beeline for it. The little sea witch flopped into the pile of soft pillows, shaped like sea stars and jellyfish.
Elsie laughed softly, sinking into the cushions beside Lorianne, “Tired, huh, Lorrie?”
“A little sleepy,” Lorianne let out a yawn, her face scrunching up.
Nathaniel smiled at the sight of the tired yet content mother and daughter. Soon, two waiters came with their pre-ordered lunch. The feast was sea-themed, both delicious and charming.
“Let’s eat,” Nathaniel gestured at the dining table once the waiters left, “Then, we can get some rest.”
“Okay~ I’m hungry.”
“Let’s wash our hands first.”
Lorianne jumped from the sofa bed, rushing to the exquisite wash basin in one corner of the room. Elsie assisted the short little girl. Then, Nathaniel helped her to sit on the chair, padded by a seashell cushion.
Lorianne’s plate was a delightful arrangement, each dish was in little quantities.
A rice ball shaped into a pufferfish with tiny seaweed eyes and carrot fins, mini octopus sausages, savory mashed potatoes molded into a smiling stingray and a side of seaweed salad shaped like sea grass.
“Mommy, Daddy, I have gummy fish in my drink~”
Lorianne showed her blue lemonade drink, served in a cup resembling a little aquarium. A few gummy fish in the color yellow, white and pink swam at the bottom.
Nathaniel grinned, “Eat slowly, my dear. They’ll escape to the aquarium if you don’t.”
“No!”
Following her dad’s words, Lorianne began eating carefully. Nathaniel and Elsie chuckled before focusing on their meals.
Elsie had a beautifully arranged sushi plate and grilled fish while Nathaniel had a rich and creamy seafood pasta, topped with scallops and shrimp. Everything was served on shell-shaped ceramic plates.
The small overhead speaker played gentle ocean sounds and soft classical music, accompanying them as they ate. Lorianne paused between bites, her eyes drooping.
“Sleepy, my dear?” Elsie asked. Smiling, she stroked Lorianne’s hair.
“Sleepy,” the little girl nodded, “Can I nap after lunch, Mommy?”
“You can.”
Elsie and Nathaniel didn’t force Lorianne to finish her food. The man covered the little one with a blanket when she drifted off to sleep on the sofa bed.
Their sea adventure hadn’t reached the end yet, but their little sea witch was already tired. Letting her nap was the answer.
