Chapter 68: The Secluded Beach Paradise
An unbothered Lariette spent the rest of the daytime with Ruediger and Madeline after returning from the Elsher family’s meeting.
Before leaving, Lariette smiled meaningfully at Stephanie and Samantha. She also waved, causing their faces to darken further.
Stephanie and Samantha were obviously frustrated but, they were forced to hold their tongues. Chairman Delaney still eyed them with a warning.
“Lari, why don’t you bring Eddy and Maddie out?”
“That sounds good. I’ll do that, Grandpa.”
Chairman Delaney suggested to Lariette on their way back. As per his proposal, she brought the cousins to one of her favorite places. The place was not far from the villa.
Lariette told Ruediger and Madeline to change into their swimsuits. She and her new husband also did something before leaving their room unoccupied.
One could never be too careful, especially when the other party was petty and vengeful.
The ladies wore a thin cardigan over their swimwear, complete with colorful pareo wrapping their legs. They also brought a bag of necessary items, including bottled water and snacks.
As for the man, he opted for a pair of quarter-length swim trunks, including a light-colored jacket.
The trio waved at Chairman Delaney before Lariette led Madeline and Ruediger to a direction. Their feet, protected by sandals and flip-flops, left marks on the white sand.
“A secret beach?”
Ruediger arched his brows, wondering what Lariette meant when the lovely brunette mentioned going to a secret beach. His eyes gaze on the lady’s back as she walks ahead of him.
Turning behind her back, Lariette happily explained to Ruediger, her sapphire eyes gleaming with delight.
“It’s quite secluded. We need to go through a narrow path to reach the place. Maddie has been there before too.”
“It’s a nice place,” Madeline nodded, showing her approval. Smirking at Ruediger, she openly teased her cousin, “A good spot for a date too. But, I won’t let you be alone with my Lari ah.”
Ruediger rolled his eyes, showing his distaste toward Madeline, earning laughter from the annoying cousin of his.
Lariette chuckled upon hearing her friend’s remark. Still, a lovely shade of pink was cast on her cheeks.
She couldn’t deny what her friend had just said. The secluded beach was indeed a good place for a date.
Walking further from the villa, Lariette led Madeline and Ruediger along a narrow, winding path. The trail cut through a grove of palms and lush, dense trees.
Lariette moved with familiarity. She occasionally glanced back at Madeline and Ruediger with a soft smile on her lips. She could see awe glimmering in their eyes.
“We’ll be there soon. The beach is over there. Look.”
Lariette pointed to a direction. Madeline and Ruediger looked at the end of the path. They listened to the faint echoes of the waves in the distance.
The trail was well-shaded by the clusters of towering trees, dappled with sunlight filtering through the canopy above. The further the trio walked, the wider the path became.
Finally, the trail opened up, presenting Lariette, Madeline and Ruediger with a secluded beach with powdery white sand.
The swaying palm trees framed the pristine beach. The water was crystal clear, glimmering under the sunlight, weaving in shades of deep blue and turquoise.
“We are here!”
“Yayyy!”
Madeline ran forward, bypassing Lariette and Ruediger until she stopped at the shoreline. The lady’s action propelled laughter from her friend while the man gazed at the area in awe.
Tilting her chin up, Lariette tried gauging Ruediger’s reaction. He stood by her side silently as he absorbed the tranquil beauty of the place.

“What do you think, Eddy?”
Lariette’s soft voice was like a melody to Ruediger, harmonizing with the rustling of the leaves and the waves lapping. Returning his gaze on her, he smiled fondly.
“Truly a treasure.”
Ruediger was glad to come here with Lariette. Even though there was an unwanted presence in the form of Madeline, he knew to the grateful when needed.
Haha… he shouldn’t let his cousin know she was viewed as a nuisance now.
Lariette’s chuckled with a hint of pride in her sapphire eyes. Bringing Ruediger along was a good choice. Like Madeline, he also appreciated the surprise.
“Hey! Come here! Stop just standing there!”
Madeline’s yelling rose above nature’s melody, calling for Lariette and Ruediger. The former had already laid a mat on the beach.
Lariette and Ruediger exchanged a smile, sensing impatience in Madeline’s voice. They half-ran and half-walked to the latter, sending puffs of sand into the air.
“Eddy, Lari can swim well, you know?” Madeline smirked at Ruediger, her eyes sparkling with mischief, “Why don’t you two go for a swim? Let me be lazy here.”
Understanding the meaning beneath Madeline’s remarks, Ruediger couldn’t help but think his cousin was less annoying than before. She was trying to get him to spend more time with Lariette.
Well, he wouldn’t ever let go of this chance unless the lady refused.
Amused by Madeline’s words, Lariette playfully slapped her friend’s back. She glanced at Ruediger.
“Wanna race? The first one reaches the rock and returns here wins. We have to touch the rock to be qualified.”
Lariette pointed to a giant rock at a distance. She used to swim there and back many times already.
Ruediger raised one brow, slightly surprised by the sudden challenge. The faintest hint of a smirk played on his lips, “Someone sounds so confident. Well, if you say so.”
“No need to give me a handicap. I can handle it well.”
Lariette winked. Taking off the cardigan and untying the pareo, she dumped the clothes on Madeline, earning her friend’s disgruntled murmurs.
Blinking, Ruediger darted his gaze elsewhere when Lariette’s slender frame was revealed. A faint blush left a tint on his cheeks.
“I’ll take the challenge then.”
Ruediger took off the hoodie, also throwing it to the protesting Madeline. His well-toned figure was exposed to the breeze.
Not sure what happened to her, Lariette quickly shifted her eyes from Ruediger’s body to the ocean. It was the first time she saw his naked torso.
It was clear Ruediger dedicated years and determination to achieve this physique. Smooth, taut lines defined his lean and muscular body.
Each muscle was visible beneath Ruediger’s firm and sculpted chest. His broad shoulders tapered down to a well-defined waist, seemingly conveying his strength without the need to show off.
Cough.
Lariette didn’t mean to but, she inevitably compared Ruediger’s toned physique to Damien’s slightly lanky figure.
Anyway! Back to her aim!
She shouldn’t let anything hinder her focus!
“Should we start now?”
“Confident in winning, en?”
“Of course!”
Ruediger laughed seeing Lariette’s challenging yet playful gaze as she ran to the edge of the water. The rolling waves lightly kissed her feet.
“Lari! Beat his ass! Don’t let him win!”
Madeline yelled, throwing glares at Ruediger who snickered at her. The man ran forward, reaching Lariette’s side.
Once again Madeline hollered, “I will count! Three! Two! One! Go!”
Splash!
Splash!
Lariette and Ruediger threw themselves into the water, diving in gracefully as they glided through the waves.
The sunlight glimmered on their backs, their hearty laughter danced on the surface before they focused on reaching the rock.
