Chapter 113: Lip Sync Showdown
“Can we go home?” one of the girls next to Minji asked.
Minji turned to them and frowned. “Aren’t you curious about the rest of the contestants?” she kindly asked.
As she sat with them and listened to their silent conversations, she realized they were only teenagers. She was an angsty teenager once, too, and she believed that if they stayed until the end, they would inevitably enjoy the show.
One of them clicked her tongue but stayed in her seat.
Minji smiled and focused her attention back on her friends.
Finally, the song started, and the production crew was pretty worried for one person.
Zeno was only sent the song and his parts yesterday afternoon after everything had been settled. He didn’t even get to practice with the rest of the cast.
Dahee watched the scene, biting her lip in nervousness.
Double Life started first, moving her lips to the song—a hit RnB slow song composed by none other than Hyunwoo Kim.
The camera focused on him, capturing his surprised expression. He didn’t expect one of the songs he produced to be used here.
Especially not the one that spoke of his life story.
The song was entitled ‘Blindsided,’ and it was about Hyunwoo’s first and last marriage and how his wife cheated on him multiple times, but he turned a blind eye to it so he could keep their relationship.
In the end, though, he was the one who suffered the most.
The song held a lot of sadness and underlying anger.
Double Life gave justice to the first line with her fierce expression. It may have been over the top, but it still brought great laughs to the panelists and audience.
“You walk in like the past doesn’t exist
Same perfume, same red lips”
Double Life’s lips trembled like they were that of a real singer, making them confused even with just one line.
Next was Bougie Diver, who placed down his luxury items as he sang the next line.
“But I smell his hands on your skin
I know where you’ve been (Yes, I know)”
He even mouthed the whisper ad-lib, his eyes unusually sad and brows exaggeratedly furrowed.
Philip clicked his tongue and tilted his head to the side. “This is tough,” he muttered.
“But I keep my mouth shut, keep my heart still
Let you lay beside me like you didn’t just come from his arms
Guess I’m the fool now”
Speedo Sensei mouthed the words like he, himself, was the one being cheated on. In reality, though, Doha had never been in a relationship, so the lip-syncing appeared quite aggressive.
“Blindsided, oh, I let you in
Knew the truth but played pretend
You whisper, “Baby, it’s only you.”

I nod my head like that ain’t a lie, too.”
Lace King was up next, and compared to everybody else, he utilized his body quite a lot. He gyrated and thrust into the air, making the audience shriek in horror.
Minji leaned against her seat and slightly obscured her eyes with her hands. However, as the next person sang, she brought them down once more.
In fact, she wanted to multiply her eyes so she could watch the scene from different angles.
The voice, which was that of a talented male artist, felt like it belonged to Zeno as he mouthed the next lines.
“Tell me, does he touch you like I do?
Does he hold you when you fall apart, too?
Or am I just the safe place you run back to?
No more, no more, no more…”
Dahee found herself sighing in relief. She didn’t have to worry about anything! Zeno integrated into the group really well—like he was there from the very first day of their practice.
Risa pursed her lips and pinched her thigh. Maybe it was because Zeno was an actor, but the delivery of his lines was different compared to the rest.
The laughter seized the moment the camera focused on him. Instead of a lip-syncing showdown, it felt like a script reading.
However, it was quite unrealistic. Who would cheat on someone with such a face?
Before they could dwell on his emotional delivery, however, the next segment brought back the laughter. It was time for them to lip-sync to the tone-deaf voice.
“Your touch is colder than it was before
But I pull you closer; I need it more”
Double Life passionately sang, and that sent the studio into fits of laughter.
Philip covered his mouth in amusement. “What is this?” he exclaimed. The tone-deaf lip-syncing was a new section, a first out of all the seasons, so it was quite unexpected.
“A little love, a little lie
Both cut me just the same tonight.”
“It’s even harder to decipher who’s good and who’s not!” Ian chuckled along with Risa. “This is so fun.”
“So I keep my mouth shut, keep my hands tied
Let you hold me like you’re justified”
Minji laughed out loud as she watched Doha sing cheesily on the screen. Knowing her friend, this wasn’t too far from reality.
Doha couldn’t sing at all. All of his talents had gone to dancing.
However, if there was someone who was worse than Doha, then Minji could only think of one person. And that person was on the stage with him.
“Blindsided, yeah, I’m wide awake
But I keep dreaming anyway”
Lace King didn’t sing so passionately for the tone-deaf part, so the audience thought he suited the talented voice much better.
“I think he’s a good singer,” Hyunwoo muttered.
Ian clicked his tongue. “It’s still so hard to tell.”
Zeno, who wanted to get this over with, looked into the camera once more.
“Blindsided, I turn away
Know that you won’t stay
But I always let you crawl back home
And this night, too, I sleep alone”
With that, the song ended, but it was left on an ambiguous note. Zeno’s part didn’t bring laughter but merely confusion.
The audience began discussing right away, while Philip had a conflicted look on his face.
“Why does he suit the tone-deaf voice so well, too?”
