Chapter 722: Aftermath of the Annhilation [1]
The ark dashed through the vast space and Ji Shuang stood at the prow with her gaze fixed on the coordinates ahead.
‘I am getting close to the vampiric Star… Wait a little, Tian and Jing’er.’
Huh? Suddenly her gaze narrowed in confusion.
A storm of chaotic energies roiled in the distance like a swirling maelstrom of destruction that devoured all light, twisting space into a fractured mosaic.
And at the heart of it all…
A planet was dying.
What the?
Ji Shuang’s breath hitched as she saw the Vampiric Star… now reduced to a ruin of splintering landmasses, gaping chasms, and rising infernos.
Massive storms of fire and lightning rampaged across the space.
The ark trembled.
A crushing pressure radiated outward from the obliterated planet and the force was so cataclysmic that even her powerful ark twisted.
Ji Shuang’s long black hair whipped wildly around her face and her powerful cultivation was the only thing protecting her from being flung back, but even she felt the immense force pressing down upon her.
Her pupils shrank.
It wasn’t just a simple destruction of a city or a kingdom.
What she is witnessing is the absolute annihilation of an entire race.
Millions have died.
Nothing remained of the once-mighty Vampiric Star but an expanding ring of golden-black flames and countless shards of planetary debris drifting lifelessly into space.
The core of the planet had been ripped apart and its energy was bleeding out into space like a gaping wound.
But the most terrifying sight was…
Floating amidst the chaos.
A lone figure.
Ji Shuang’s heart trembled as she looked at him.
Zhao Tian.
Suspended in the vast emptiness, his body radiated a terrifying energy that made the very fabric of space twist around him.
His golden-black aura burned like an untamed sun as his sheer presence caused the ark’s defenses to waver.
His black angelic wings were now tattered, scorched by the force of his own attack.
His robes were in tatters and his body was covered in glowing cracks where his life force had burned away.
His blindfold was now partially torn, revealing the faintest glimmer of his eyes.
Ji Shuang gritted her teeth as she struggled to keep the ark steady.
Even from a distance, she could feel the residual aura that lingered around him.

The raw intensity of it sent a shiver down her spine.
‘What the hell happened here?’
Ji Shuang had witnessed destruction before but not on this scale.
She took a soft breath and exhaled ‘Zhao Tian… what have you done?’
Suddenly Zhao Tian turned his head and his blindfolded gaze snapped in her direction.
Even from this distance, Ji Shuang felt the crushing weight of his presence fall upon her like a tidal wave.
For a brief moment, she wondered… is he even still human?
Or had he become something else entirely?
The ark’s defenses flared again, struggling to withstand the pressure of his mere presence.
Suddenly the blackish golden aura around Zhao Tian began to waver and he felt his eyes struggling to stay open.
His eyes wavered for one lost second before he lost consciousness.
The overwhelming presence that had threatened to suffocate the very space around him abruptly dissipated.
His body is now floating lifelessly amidst the swirling remnants of a destroyed world.
“Shit, Shit…” Ji Shuang cursed under her breath.
There was no time to hesitate.
Her body moved before her mind could even process the decision.
She leapt from her ark into the vast, unstable chaos.
The cold void of space rushed around her, but she ignored it as her mind solely focused on reaching Zhao Tian before he was lost in the abyss.
Her eyes darted around, scanning the debris field.
Enormous planetary fragments drifted aimlessly in space, rotating in slow arcs.
The remnants of mountains, shattered beyond recognition, tumbled through the void.
The gravitational turbulence from the planet’s destruction had yet to fully settle, making the space around her a death trap.
Some debris moved erratically, drawn in by collapsing gravitational pockets before being violently expelled into the space.
Cracks of residual energy still sparked along the edges of ruined landmasses that are remnants of the cataclysmic force that had torn this world apart.
Ji Shuang gritted her teeth and her cultivation flared, forming protective layers around her body to shield herself from the aftershocks of Zhao Tian’s final attack.
‘Damn it… Damn it…’
Her heartbeat pounded in her chest as she dodged through the ruins, weaving past enormous shards of the broken planet.
Some fragments spun dangerously close to her, forcing her to twist her body mid-air and adjust her trajectory at the last second.
With one final burst of speed, Ji Shuang closed the distance between her and Zhao Tian.
Her fingers reached out…
And caught him.
Her grip tightened around his body as she pulled him into her arms, feeling the remnants of his energy still clinging weakly to his body.
His breathing was faint as his chest rose and fell so slowly that for a second, she thought-
No.
He was alive.
But he wouldn’t be for long if she didn’t move.
Ji Shuang turned her gaze toward her ark, still hovering in the distance.
She clenched her jaw and launched herself back.
The return trip was even more dangerous.
She carried Zhao Tian’s weight now, and the debris field was becoming more unstable by the second.
Each second counted as she weaved through the broken ruins, dodging collapsing landmasses and surging waves of energy that still rippled through space.
The strain of carrying him while maneuvering through the wreckage was immense, but she refused to slow down.
“Hold on,” she muttered under her breath.
“Just hold on.”
A sudden surge of gravitational force threatened to pull her into a collapsing rift, but Ji Shuang gritted her teeth and forced her way through as her cultivation burned at its peak.
She saw the ark just ahead with its entrance open.
With one last burst of speed, she propelled herself forward…
And landed.
The moment her feet touched the ark’s deck, its protective barriers flared, stabilizing the pressure around her.
The ship’s defensive formations immediately adjusted, sealing them off from the collapsing void outside.
“Haa… Haa…” Ji Shuang collapsed to one knee, gasping for breath as she held onto Zhao Tian’s limp body.
Her gaze flickered downward.
Zhao Tian’s face was pale and his body was covered in deep, glowing cracks from where his energy had burned away.
She pressed two fingers to his neck, feeling for his pulse.
Faint… but there.
Ji Shuang let out a slow, shaky breath as her hands tightened around him.
Her gaze turned back toward the ruin outside.
A dead world.
She looked back at Zhao Tian.
And in that moment, a single thought struck her…
What… have you become?
However, at this time, she remembered something, and her pupils shrank in horror.
J-Jing’er?
