Sitting there, she raised her hands slowly and gathered her violet hair, twisting it into a loose bun.

Her robes shifted messily and slipped even more as the silk barely clung to her hips, teasing him with every move.

Zhao Tian looked at her as her loose robes revealed her neck and her spine.

He gently moved up to sit before hugging her from behind.

“No more sleeping?”

“Hmm..” She leaned back on his chest, and his gaze flickered to the one breast as her inverted nipple looked back at him.

Gently caressing his cheek with hers, he muttered “Good morning then…”

She closed her eyes and nodded her head “Morning feels good with you.”

Nodding, he replied “Yeah, I can tell.”

But as he remembered Zhou Hanyue, he spoke “I need to leave quickly.”

Hm? She turned her head slightly to look at him “Why? Can’t you stay with me for a little longer?”

Shaking his head, he replied “I want to spend some time with you, but… well, last night I was having sex with Hanyue.”

He looked up at her luscious body and sighed before standing up “Right? I should. I will return later.”

The quiet hush of the corridor faded behind him as Zhao Tian stepped into Zhou Hanyue’s chambers.

Zhou Hanyue was still asleep, her body partially curled under the sheets and her bare skin exposed in places where the covers had slipped during the night.

Her raven-black hair spilled around her and her lips slightly parted as if caught between a dream and waking.

He let out a soft sigh…

“Where were you, cheater?”

She was sitting up now as she lazily pulled the sheets across her chest, covering just enough.

Her hair was a tousled mess, and her eyes were half-lidded from sleep yet sharp as ever with her words.

With a soft sigh, he walked to her and sat beside her on the bed “Dear, I am sorry.”

She was still naked after the night’s sex and her eyes narrowed further.

She stared at him for a moment longer before she sighed and lay back on the bed.

Her voice came out quieter this time. “I should have known… You have so many other wives, so many other women in your heart. I guess you won’t always have time to look at just me.”

Zhao Tian’s expression softened and he reached for her, brushing a lock of hair from her forehead before leaning down to kiss her gently there. “No, it’s not like that. Something else came up last night… something I couldn’t ignore.”

He hesitated, then added quietly, “I was with Sect Master.”

Zhou Hanyue’s brows twitched slightly, her eyes opening halfway again as she stared up at him from the bed. “Ji Shuang, huh… I see.”

Zhao Tian looked down, his thumb lightly stroking the back of her hand. “It wasn’t planned, dear. Last night… it just happened and I stayed a little longer.”

She turned her head to the side, eyes staring toward the gauzy curtains fluttering with the morning breeze. “Tian… do you know how it feels to wake up alone after giving everything to someone the night before?”

Zhao Tian was quiet. He had no easy answer for that.

“I’m not angry at you…” she continued, her voice softer now.

“I know who you are. I knew what I was getting into when I fell in love with you. You carry too many burdens and too many hearts.”

Zhao Tian leaned down, gently resting his forehead against hers. “I am… really sorry. I know it is my fault, and I will do anything to make it up for you.”

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Eventually, she raised a hand and brushed her fingers through his messy hair, then pulled him closer until his head rested on her shoulder.

“You talk too much,” she said with a small smile.

Zhao Tian chuckled against her skin. “Maybe I do.”

Looking at him, she spoke with a grin “Well, now that you’ve fallen right into my trap… let me tell you all the things you need to do to make up for this.”

He lifted his gaze slightly, “Trap?… Wait—did you just guilt-trip me into all of that?”

She chuckled with a grin “Mmhm,” she hummed sweetly.

“I mean, I was a little disheartened… But not entirely sad. So I thought, if I used that moment well, I could get away with a few demands. And you wouldn’t dare say no.”

Zhao Tian blinked at her, stunned for a moment by her boldness, before groaning into her shoulder “I can’t believe I fell for that…”

She giggled, clearly proud of herself, and stroked the back of his head as if he were a pet who’d just done something cute. “You’re too soft when it comes to me, husband.”

Lifting his head, Zhao Tian looked at her with half-lidded eyes, a sigh slipping from his lips. “You know… I wouldn’t refuse your demands even if you just asked. You don’t need to set traps.”

Her fingers paused in his hair, and she leaned forward just a little, their noses almost touching. “I know. But this way, it’s more fun.”

She winked. “Now you owe me.”

He gave her a mock glare but couldn’t hold it long, especially when she patted his head with such unabashed affection.

“Are you angry, husband?” she asked, in a gentle teasing voice.

Shaking his head with a sigh, Zhao Tian leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “No,” he whispered as his lips brushed her skin.

“Why would I be angry with my wife? It’s my fault in the first place.”

She hummed in satisfaction, pulling him closer again, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her forehead against his. “Good. Because I’m not giving up my reward.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Reward?”

“Oh, yes,” she said, eyes gleaming with delight.

“You’re going to cook me something delicious, then take me out—somewhere quiet, maybe the lakeside garden. And you’re going to stay with me until I say I’ve forgiven you.”

Zhao Tian couldn’t help but smile. “Is this forgiveness negotiable?”

“Absolutely not,” she replied, poking his chest.

“You made me fall for you. Now you pay the price.”

He laughed softly, then brushed a few strands of hair away from her face, his fingers trailing down to cup her cheek. “That price doesn’t seem too heavy,” he murmured.

“In fact, I think I got the better end of the deal.”
