Chapter 287: The truth of the Nu tribe
Dakota took Hanu’s small hands in hers and gently led him forward. “Let’s go inside,” she said warmly.
Hanu’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Okay, Mother!” he said, and with a bright smile, he walked alongside her, making their way inside the hut.
Julian followed closely behind, and the moment he entered, his eyes immediately were drawn to an unusual sight at the center of the dining table. It was an orb of pure energy, pulsing with a dark blue glow.
His eyes narrowed, recognizing the sight before him. “That’s… the energy from the cavern,” he muttered.
His gaze swept over the room, and he noticed Amir and Aria, seated near the far corner. They were sharing quiet conversation over tea.
His gaze fell on Amir, who now appeared calm and composed, hugely different from the wild, demonic figure that had taken over him during the ritual. The madness that had once burned in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a serene, peaceful expression.
“He is back to normal,” Julian thought, wondering what had changed.
As the silence continued, Amir stood with a warm and grateful expression running through his face. He placed his tea aside and bowed gracefully.
“Welcome back, Julian,” Amir said with sincerity in his voice. “I thank you for saving my family and my village.”
Julian offered a warm smile. “You don’t have to thank me. I only did what I had to do.” His eyes narrowed as his gaze turned back to the glowing orb hovering near Amir.
“What is that glowing orb?” he asked in curiosity.
Amir’s expression darkened, his calm demeanor replaced by a seriousness. “Hanu, go inside,” he said, his voice leaving no room for argument.
Hanu hesitated, his hands clenching at his sides. “But… Father…”
Before he could finish, Dakota placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Listen to your father, Hanu,” she said softly.
“We are about to talk about something important. Go inside, and after that, we will play together. Okay?”
The boy’s eyes lit up in excitement. “Promise, Mother?”
Dakota smiled warmly as she nodded. “Yes, I promise.”
With a final glance at the glowing orb and a curious look at his parents, Hanu turned and ran inside, leaving Julian, Dakota, Aria, and Amir alone.
Amir remained silent for a moment longer, watching the boy disappear before turning back to Julian.
“Julian,” he began, “how much do you know about our deity?”
Julian could notice the seriousness in his voice, and his own demeanor changed. “I don’t know anything,” he admitted.
Amir gestured toward the empty seat beside Aria. “Come, sit here.”
With a slight nod, Julian approached the chair and lowered himself beside Aria, who offered him a soft smile. Meanwhile, Dakota leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, listening with sharp attention.
As soon as Julian was seated, Amir spoke again. “Julian, do you know what power truly is?”
Julian blinked at the unexpected question. It caught him off guard, and for a moment, he had no prepared answer. But without thinking, a word slipped from his mouth.
“Freedom,” he said.
The word hung in the air between them, and even Julian seemed momentarily surprised by his own answer.
Amir’s eyes widened in surprise, breaking his composed expression. He paused for a moment before asking, “Why do you think so?”
Julian tilted his head, thinking deeply and searching for an explanation.
“I’m not sure,” he confessed, “I just feel it. What else can be more powerful than freedom? The freedom to do whatever you want. To see, to speak, to act as you wish.”

His voice grew determined with each word, “That’s what power means to me.”
Amir’s expression remained calm as he asked, “Do you not think you are powerful then? You do whatever you want, say whatever you want, see whatever you want. Who has more freedom than you, oh heir of Easvil?”
Julian’s lips curled into a knowing smile, his confidence unwavering.
Beside him, Aria and Dakota both froze in shock, their eyes wide in surprise. Aria coughed, spilling her tea all over the table.
“Heir of Easvil… so you are the future Duke of the Ares kingdom?” she asked, still processing the identity of Julian. “No wonder you are so strong,” she added.
Julian leaned forward slightly, his gaze locking with Amir’s. “Tell me, Amir, will you kneel if I tell you to?” he asked with a mischievous glow in his eyes.
The room fell silent, frozen by Julian’s sudden boldness. Amir straightened his back and declared proudly, “I only kneel in front of my deity. I would rather die than kneel to anyone else.”
Julian chuckled in amusement. “Then, would you say I am powerful? If I can’t even make you kneel?” He leaned back, his tone shifting into something contemplative yet playful. “The real power is held by your deity, who can make you kneel without even saying a word.”
He laughed before adding, “He also nearly made me kneel back in the cavern while I was peeping on you.”
Amir’s voice rose with pride, “What do you expect from the Preserver of the Cosmos? He is the Almighty who overlooks every creation.”
Julian’s smile faded as he became serious. “Tell me about the story behind this village. Who exactly are you, and why are you connected with the Trinity?”
Amir froze, his eyes widening in shock. “Do… you know about the Trinity? How?”
Julian leaned forward with a hint of urgency in his tone. “That’s not important right now, is it?”
Amir hesitated for a moment, before he replied, “We are the tribe established by our deity, the Preserver. We were instructed to find a way to weaken the seal and break him free. We have been here for thousands of years with the that goal in our minds.”
Julian listened intently, his mind racing as he pondered Amir’s words. “But why do you isolate yourselves from the outside?” he asked, his curiosity growing deeper with every second.
