I Became My Healer Elf Character - Chapter 136
Chapter 136: Terminal
A couple of weeks of being on Earth, and it seemed that Kurayami and Mizuko were getting used to things. They had a basic understanding of what phones and other electronics were. Originally, they marveled at the idea that one could make such things without any magic power.
Now, the group stood at the airport. Flying was always a possibility, yet Hikari would be remiss if she didn’t let the girls try a plane once. At the airport, the group had a similar problem as before. People stared at them, whispering to each other. Though, this would be the first time that Syndra had truly ever left her country. They wouldn’t let some stares ruin their mood.
The group walked to a nearby escalator, and the thing took them up to the second floor. People filed into lines for large scanners, and guards checked the legitimacy of the people and their tickets.
Luckily for Hikari’s group, they didn’t have to do any of that. A high ranking agent of the FBI agreed to escort them, and they were allowed to bypass the checks entirely.
Kurayami marveled at all of the food shops in the terminals. “I can’t believe the massive selection of food this place has.”
Hikari chuckled. “The one thing that is true of all people on Earth is they love their food. They will build a bunch of restaurants anywhere for convenience, especially a place like the United States.”
Syndra sighed. “Yeah, it’s always been like this over here. There is a broad selection because we have planes and large ships that make transport easier. Technology allows for the freezing of foods as well, so you can pretty much get anything anywhere in this country at least.”
The elven goddess nodded. “In most developed countries it is like this. Though, there is a big price you pay when everything becomes industrialized. It’s like you complained before about the smelly air. That’s a big problem. Moreover, the quality of goods trends downwards.”
“It does?”
“Well, some things can get better. You can consider it like this. With factories, goods will be mass produced more easily, so the production only requires entry level workers. But without factories it’s all dependent on the skill of the person. If a factory makes a thousand swords, they will all look the same and function the same, and they can be produced quickly. However, if a master craftsman made the sword, it would be 10 times better, but he will not be able to produce a lot of them in a short time.”
The vampire nodded in understanding. “So factories maintain a minimum quality, but that is also the price.”
Hikari nodded. “Not just that, there is another problem. Large companies are built to make as much money as possible. If there are no laws preventing them, they will cut corners. This is why regulations exist.”
Mizuko placed a thoughtful hand on her chin. “I wonder if we could make a factory for producing that card game, while not making the quality worse.”
The elven goddess laughed. “There are factories here that produce cards. It’s also a problem when people go to buy them, and they have wrinkles or damage to them. The minting quality is so important that people are willing to pay a lot of money for it.”
Hikari’s words stopped as she watched Kurayami run into a food place. “Philly Cheese steaks? I guess our dragon smelled them…”
Mizuko laughed into her hand. “I’m not surprised. Lady Kurayami could take the title of gluttony.”
Syndra shook her head. “I will take that title before she does!” She yelled and chased after the dragon.
Hikari smiled wryly, and the rest of their group funneled into the restaurant. The elf herself didn’t bother ordering anything. It didn’t look appetizing enough for her, and she found that her taste buds had changed majorly since her transformation.
Originally, the elf had thought things simply tasted weird in the other world because of the chemicals loaded into foods on Earth. That was a part of it, but there was much more to it than that. Her appetite for meat had become smaller, and she’d found herself liking the taste of apples more.
She was not averse to eating meat, but it had to be something particularly pleasant. Mizuko seemed to share her sentiment, not partaking in the other three girls’ meal.
Kurayami piled 5 phillys onto a plate, and people surrounding their table stared at the pile of sandwiches. Compared to her, the cat girl had only gotten 3, but that was still a lot in Hikari’s mind.
The people in the surroundings were debating if the girl would eat all of them. Hikari could hear their voices as they talked among each other.
“Look, that beautiful girl has so much food. You think she’ll really eat it all?”
“I don’t know man…Though, I’ve heard of competition eaters who are both skinny and beautiful.”
“But this one is a cosplayer. You think they’re influencers? I’ve never seen a bunch of girls looking so perfect.”
Hikari tuned out their voices and focused on Kurayami’s smile instead. The girl looked like a dragon chipmunk as she stuffed her face. She was not eating quickly as a competition eater, but there was no doubt in Hikari’s mind that the dragon would finish everything in front of her.
The elf’s heart throbbed as she realized she was helplessly in love. Even this display that was less than ladylike, Hikari found cute. The elf who supported her head with her hands stared at the dragon. She found herself daydreaming of the possible marriage scenarios.
Hikari wanted it to be something fun and memorable, but the elf had no idea what to do. She could see herself adorned in a pretty dress. The elf had never seen two girls get married, and she wondered if one of them was supposed to wear a suit. Would Kurayami be standing at the end of an isle with a nice tuxedo? Or would she also wear a dress?
The elf found both images pleasant, and she barely noticed the girl at her side that was tapping her shoulder. “Ayase?”
Ayase pouted as she finished her one philly. The witch whispered. “It’s not fair of you to stare at only Kurayami like that. Look at me, too…”

Hikari chuckled, finding the little witch endearing. The elf tilted Ayase’s chin towards her and gave her a peck on the mouth, ignoring the surrounding people’s murmurings.
“I love you, too.”
“Me too, Mistress!” Mizuko exclaimed, pulling the elf towards her. She stole Hikari’s lips, not caring about the building commotion.
Syndra jumped and her ears twitched. In a move that no one could see, she slipped under the table and landed on Hikari’s lap. The cat girl wrapped her arms tightly around the elf and kissed her on the mouth.
The surroundings got even louder with their actions. The crowd was spurred into awe—a mixture of disgust, curiosity, and disbelief.
“Dude! It’s a real yuri harem!”
“What the hell man? All of these beautiful girls are gay?”
More exclamations like that continued, until a security guard found the commotion.
“I’m sorry, ladies. You can’t be doing stuff like this in the airport. I’m going to have to ask you to please find your terminal.”
Hikari sighed and peeled the kitten off of her. “Okay, we will head out.”
At the very least, all of them had finished their meal. As they left, Hikari pulled out an apple for herself and made way to their gate. “I suppose this is a good thing anyway. Maxine should be waiting for us there, and I bet she’s bored by herself.”
Syndra shrugged. “She has a phone. I thought we would have gotten one by now.”
“There is not really a point to getting one here. We should wait until we land in Japan.”
“More importantly,” Ayase said, “I want to continue where we left off later. I’m surprised you didn’t ask the government to just get us a private plane. We could have had…” Ayase looked around, noticing children walking, and stopped herself. “We could have done interesting things on a private plane.”
The elf laughed. “If you want to join the mile high club, we can always do that somewhere else. It’s not like we can’t fly around with magic. Besides, I’m pretty sure we already did that in the blimp.”
“There is a first and a second…and a third time for everything! We should get a boat while we’re at it.”
“We already did it on a boat, too!”
Syndra’s eyes widened at their conversation. “Why was I left out of all of these?”
“Well, you weren’t with us at the time, but we can always do it again. We have an eternity to experience together.”
When they finally arrived at the gate, they found Maxine playing some gacha game on her phone. A cautionary glimpse at the screen told Hikari that it was a BL game.
The woman didn’t even look up from what she was doing as she addressed them. “It’s about time you got here. We should be the first ones to board, and boarding starts in 5 minutes.”
“I had to feed my little gluttons,” Hikari said with a wry smile.
Maxine laughed. “I guess the government funding is doing wonders for you! Thanks to you I got my money too.”
“And now you’re blowing it on gacha games?”
“It’s only a small amount!” Maxine complained. “Still, I’m very thankful once again for all of your help.”
The girl stood up and hugged Hikari, and the elf returned the gesture.
