I Became My Healer Elf Character - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Anaksha
Hikari stared down the boss of floor 20. It was a mass of black energy, and it radiated a feeling of death. It hovered in the cool air in a foggy arena. The overall atmosphere gave off a sinister feeling. Hikari carefully inspected it.
[Dungeon Boss: Anaksha]
Level: 40
Title: [Wraith of Fear]

Strength: Null
Agility: 600
Intelligence: 700
Wisdom: 700
Faith: -50
Health: Null
Mana: 4,000
Stamina: Null
Given that Hikari was obviously much higher leveled, the effect was pointless. Not to mention, this guy was very weak to any faith-based magic. However, Hikari felt it wasn’t completely useless. She finally found a named monster with relatively high intelligence.
As if to signify this fact, Anaksha transmitted an eerie sounding voice. “You’re a trespasser here. An angel of that elven goddess?”
Hikari’s eyes widened. She definitely hadn’t expected a dungeon boss to speak. “You can speak? Which elven goddess are you talking about?”
The boss released a deep ethereal chuckle. “It doesn’t matter either way. You’re not welcome, and I must perform my duty.”
“Your duty? Is your duty dying at the hands of myself? Why would you follow someone giving you this duty?”
Another deep laughter ensued. “It matters not. I can’t win, but one death in this moment is nothing compared to what you’ll suffer in the pits of despair. Enough talk.”
Hikari had hoped to glean more information from the wraith, but he released a scream. And his body started to produce a mass of dark energy.
Before he could finish whatever spell he started casting, Kurayami spoke two words and casted her own spell. [Mana Siphon].”
A stream of dark energy connected her to the wraith, and the dark being faded into a pile of ash after all of his mana was instantly sucked away. Hikari frowned at Kurayami. “Did you really have to do that?”
The dragon nodded. “For one, none of these people have the qualifications to raise their hands against you. For two, I couldn’t stand to see this guy compare you to a mere angel…” Her anger had become even more prevalent, her eyes becoming a bright orange. “And lastly, this guy thinks his boss is above you.”
Hikari quickly ran over and hugged the dragon, soothing her as if she was a little pet and reaching up to pat Kurayami’s head. “I understand how you feel. I’m sorry for rebuking you.”
Kurayami shook her head rapidly. “No, Master shouldn’t be sorry for anything. I am sorry for almost losing my temper.”
Hikari smiled at the little dragon—still taller than herself. “Kurayami, from now on we are going to have to blend in with normal people.” She carefully scratched beneath the dragon’s chin as if soothing a cat. “We will have to adhere to the standards of society. There may be many people who end up talking down to me. I am not asking you to be emotionless. However, I also don’t want to see you become an unhinged dragon stealing away everyone’s treasures and treating them like insects.”
Kurayami chuckled before producing a beautiful smile. “Who’s stealing treasures? The only treasure I require is the one before me.” She dropped to one knee and clasped Hikari’s tender hand. “I promise that this dragon will not become what you have described.” After a brief second she placed a kiss on the back of Hikari’s hand. “I am only faithful to you alone, Master, so please rely on me. If you allow me, I can remove any obstacle in your path.”
Under the strong gaze of the dragon beneath her and the sincere words expressed, Hikari felt her face heating and her heart racing. “Why is it that you feel so strongly about me?”
The dragon tilted her head as if Hikari had said something absurd. “It was you who have given me everything. It is only right that I return these favors. Even if I were to stand against all of the divine, I would do it for you.”
Even though Hikari had no recollection of doing so much for this girl, she felt a sense of admiration. This dragon could openly express her views on Hikari while feeling no shame or remorse. What do I feel then? An alien thought crossed her mind—like a voice from ages passed. No matter what, I swear I will protect you.

This was what Hikari felt in her heart. However, she had no recollection of why. In her memory, the only thing she could grasp was picking up the dragon egg in a gacha event and raising it as if the NPC was precious. She’d spent hours and days getting the best gear for the dragon. Maybe that’s why I feel this way?
“Master?”
Hikari shook her head. “It’s nothing. Let’s see what this chest has to offer before moving on.”
Inside of the chest were more gemstones and a silver necklace with a ruby as the center piece.

“I guess this is probably useless for both of us.”
Kurayami nodded. “There is no greater treasure that could be provided anywhere on this planet than what you have already given me…” However, her eyes betrayed her words. The little dragon stared at the piece of jewelry.
Could it be? Is this dragon really a hoarder? Hikari couldn’t help but cover her mouth. She pushed down the laugh threatening to burst out. “Well, it’s quite useless to both of us, but you can keep it in your inventory.”
Kurayami’s eyes lit up as she grabbed the treasure from Hikari’s hands. “Thank you, Master. Though this thing is lesser, I will still treasure it as a gift from you.”
Hikari let a faint grin show and gently patted the dragon a couple of times. “You don’t need to be so serious. Well, I know it’s useless telling you this. Instead, let’s continue.”
With those words they exited the boss room and entered the next biome. This one ended up being a dry land with sparse trees. It wasn’t quite a desert as their were a few trenches of water, but the entire place was mostly barren.
Will we really find those trees here?
