I Became My Healer Elf Character - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Pact Sealed
Hikari looked around at the wilted trees and flowers in the clearing. The mist seemed to be condensed in the soil. She carefully inspected each one of the girls, but none of them had the cursed status ailment. Naturally, the dragon was completely immune to its effects, but she guessed the others were resisting it because of the elf’s warmth spell.
A low level warmth spell would only warm up characters that the caster intended, but at high levels, the amount of warmth could be changed. And it gave a small resistance to debuffs, but with Hikari’s stats, that resistance became rather large.
The elf pointed her staff at the dark-tinted ground. “[Purification: Low].”
A light spread out on the ground, cleansing the foul mana from the soil. The wilted pink flowers began to bloom once more. Even the wilted trees began to look more lively, their leaves slowly sprouting.
Sordra looked around in disbelief, admiring Hikari’s work. “Are all elves so skilled at regenerating nature? I heard that they regard wildlife and trees very highly.”
“I don’t know about other elves, but I can heal all living creatures including plants.” The elf didn’t comment how even if they were dead there was a possibility of healing them.
Soon, she got a communication signal from her little fairy. “My Queen, you should come check this out. There are no enemies.”
Hikari nodded to the group. “It seems our fairy found something.”
As soon as they traversed, Hikari used her [Orb Light] spell to light up the small cavern. It continued for a little ways until it opened up to a larger cave structure.
The only thing truly notable was the black magic circle on the ground. It was spread out across the darkened soil, and Hikari used a detection spell to figure out what it was. According to the information gathered, it was a teleportation array for teleporting living creatures aligned with darkness.
“Does this mean that the curse is alive? Or did something bring it over here?” Either way, she had to get rid of it, so she snuffed out the spell by using her own purification spell once more.
Hikari used her detection spell inside of the cave, but she found nothing odd about it. With that in mind, she spread it further, going across every corner of the mountain. Aside from red blips resembling wolves or monsters, there was nothing resembling the curse she found before.
“Odd.”
Sordra glanced around nervously. “Is that curse gone?”
“You don’t have to worry about that. There is nothing resembling it on this entire mountain. Even the town below is fine.”
Kurayami frowned after sniffing around. “Master, I don’t sense anything either.”
Whatever it was, it has disappeared completely. Hikari looked towards the crevice, noticing the setting sun outside. With that in mind, the group decided to make camp in there for the night, despite Sordra’s protests. Hikari had to reassure the girl that the curse would not come back. And even if it did, the elf had numerous ways of dealing with it.

The Misty Isles was covered in black sand year round. A thick black fog constantly hovered over the islands, and no living creatures could be found. There were plenty of undead roaming around and lost souls.
An ancient abandoned town sat at the largest island. Inside of it there were tons of skeletons crawling around the place. Though, these guys were more intelligent than their friends usually found on the main continent. Most of them communicated easily.
The stone structures of the once glorious city were all dilapidated—broken beyond repair. In the center of the old city plaza, several of the skeletons knelt around a black fire. Floating in the flames of purgatory was a woman who seemed to be more lively than their surroundings, but her body was ethereal as she was a hologram.
One of the skeletons spoke up above his brethren. “My Goddess, I apologize. We weren’t able to secure all of what you asked for.”
The beautiful woman with black hair wore clothes of the same color, and her eyes shone despite being pitch black. “Were you able to figure out the one who collapsed the whereabouts that one? I lost many pawns because of her.”
The skeleton leader held out a black orb. “Feast your eyes upon this, My Goddess.”
Inside of the black sphere, an image began to present itself. It was the image of a beautiful elven girl. In the recording she healed the cursed girl next to a monument of the Goddess Amelia.
The woman inside of the black flames put a hand to her chin. “Interesting… The ability to revive, is it?”
“We can’t be sure if it was revival or if that girl had a sliver of life remaining, My…”
The goddess squinted her eyes at the skeleton mage. “You fool! This is a precise resurrection. Had it been a few more seconds, that girl would have become mine.”
“I apologize. I cannot presume to understand as well as you do, My Goddess. Still, can you answer a question for this old fool?”
“Go on.”

“Why did we teleport the curse into that other goddess’ mountain range? What goal do you hope to achieve?”
“Goal?” The goddess once more narrowed her eyes. “This was less of a goal and more of a test. My foolish followers would have me believe that the spell which ended that dungeon was the work of Amelia.”
“Were we wrong?”
“Of course, you were wrong. I said it before, and this is proof. For whatever reason, that Amelia will not act, and this must be precisely why.”
“I don’t understand, My Goddess.”
“Hmph, don’t you see? Someone stronger has entered the fray. My attempts to contact an aligned Elder God has gone unanswered. It seems we know not where this one comes from or how she’s able to freely walk the mortal realms.”
“Is it an avatar?”
“If it were an avatar, then she’d have been struck down the moment she attempted to mingle with those mortals.”
Edith—Goddess of the Black Rose—pondered for a while. “We lost many pawns because of this one. We even lost an aligned lower deity.”
“Are you saying…”
“Yes, that woman killed Perish, the God of Deceit. Moreover, she did it with one massive spell. I am not sure I could have done the same.”
“Are you saying she’s stronger…”
Before the skeleton could finish, he was instantly turned into black ash with a single snap of Edith’s fingers. The goddess smiled at the other trembling skeletons. “Does anyone else want to try my patience?”
This time a wraith floated forward. “My Goddess, I have seen this woman first hand.”
“Anaksha? I thought you had died along with your little master?”
“That guy could hardly be called a master to anyone. We are all loyal to you. As for how I survived, I simply made a wish, My Goddess.”
“Ah, the [Wish of Despair], does this mean you have surpassed your previous form?”
“Yes, I have become a [Despairing Wraith], but I still don’t understand how to control these emotions. In your presence it is vastly easier.”
“So, you survived a run-in with that… ‘elf’?”
“Yes, My Goddess. I believe that woman is concealing her aura. The aura I felt was nowhere near enough to bring a collapse to the entire dungeon and the death of that god. I believe she is aligned with Amelia. At least, her temperament led me to believe so.”
“Is that so? If that’s the case it will become much harder for us to act. The court has been watching more carefully recently. No one could have foretold this event.”
The wraith hesitated, but then he steeled himself for the potential wrath of his goddess. “My Goddess, if I may be so bold, I would like a gift from your divinity.”
“Hah, and why should I offer you anything? All of you have failed me. Do you think I should not just erase you where you are?”
The almost formless black mist of the wraith wriggled around at the threat, but he maintained his composure. “I wish not to acquire the ire of your greatness. I simply ask for a boost that allows me to fulfill my duty.”
“And what duty is that?”
“I will personally see to it that this elven goddess is dealt with.”
“You? Don’t make me laugh. What could you do against the divine?”
“I know that this girl has a weakness. I could exploit that weakness and allow for you to personally end her life.”
“Oh? And pray tell what this weakness is.”
“Yes, My queen,” the wraith said, “she is too caring when it comes to the mortals, especially the ones closest to her…If you could trigger another evolution for me, I could insight anger against her. We could back her into a corner.”
“So you want to become the [Wrathful Wraith]? And what happens if you fail me?”
“Everything…”
“Hmm?”
“I will give you everything. My entire existence will be yours.”
On that day, a dark shadow descended from the heavens. Though, the only living beings who could see it were the fisherman a distance away and the water dragons who quickly fled.
The mass erupted around Anaksha, and he felt his entire being becoming strengthened. The wrath of his defeat floated in his mind, and he finally peered at his goddess.
“Thank you, My Goddess. I won’t fail you.”
“Such words are wasted. I want to see results, and if you do fail…Remember the pact.”
