Chapter 54: Worlds Are Like A Box Of Chocolate
Hikari realized she didn’t have the means to say no. After all, the only reason she had not gone to her domain was the uncertainty of coming back. At least, that’s the reason she told herself. She also didn’t know what to expect upon arriving there, but now that she was presented with it, she realized she’d have to.
The elf felt the signatures of her contracts pulling her from the place that was surely her domain. She had a few ways to go there. One of them was to use the contract link to summon herself to the other side, and another one was to use the [Return] spell.
In the game, every player had a return spell. It allowed them to travel back to their homes or to the start of a dungeon.
Hikari finally sighed and looked at Kurayami. “Stay here for a moment.”
“I understand, Master. However, you shouldn’t worry. There is no way you’d fail!”
“Don’t set off a flag like that!” Hikari looked at the others and resigned herself. “I will be right back.” She didn’t wait for their answers. Instead, she focused her mana into the golden staff that had been with her the whole time, letting the bells toll. “[Return: Home].”

A black tunnel. Flashing lights blinking in every direction. That was the view, until it all folded in on itself and turned into a blank white abyss.
When Hikari opened her eyes, she found herself inside of a well-lit hallway. She blinked several times and checked her hands. She looked down and tugged on her white robes.
“Mistress?” A questioning voice entered Hikari’s ear from the side. “Is that really you?”
Hikari turned her head to a girl in a black and white maid outfit. She was several inches taller than the elf, and she had deep black hair. The woman’s eyes were crimson. Four fangs adorned her mouth—two on the top and bottom. This girl was part of the long-lived races—vampires. Her body was pale white, and her maid outfit was Victorian and frilly. Of course, Hikari recognized the woman.
“Mizuko?”
Mizuko’s eyes widened and she quickly grabbed Hikari, squeezing her in a herculean grip. Most noticeably this woman’s chest was even larger than Kurayami’s.
“Mistress! We were so worried when you disappeared!”
“We? And how long was I gone for?”
“You don’t remember!? You were standing in front of that thing, and then you disappeared! I knew you would come back!”
Hikari looked towards the thing she pointed it. Upon seeing it, Hikari could only smile wryly. It was a floating globe inside of a glass case. Looking around the hall even more, Hikari knew she remembered this place. It was her trophy room. Every few feet there was yet another display.
She looked back towards the globe, realizing that the case had a plaque, but the plaque was nameless. There was just a blank golden space where a name should be. However, that wasn’t the case for everything else.
In another display, there was a giant head at least twenty feet tall with tusks. This one read: [Titan God].
Naturally, Hikari remembered this dungeon. It was a tomb of giants, and at the end, she had to face this god. The lore was the he needed to be slain because he had turned to evil and tried to destroy the world by amassing an undead army of titans. Now that Hikari had experienced another world, she could awkwardly only wonder if this lore was actual reality.
Instead, she looked back at Mizuko. “Oh yeah, you didn’t answer the question. How long was I gone for?”
Mizuko tilted her head. “You must have been gone for at least a day, my mistress.”
“A day!? What is that? Was there such a time differential?”
“My lady, please calm down! Every one was worried, but I stayed right here. You said you would come back, so I waited.”
“You stood here that whole time? Wait…” Hikari’s gears spun in her head. She started to remember the last thing she was doing in the game before she woke up in another world. Indeed, she had completed the globe. She put it inside of a case, yet when she went to test the item, everything went black. “Does that mean I didn’t die?”
The vampire grabbed Hikari’s hands, pleading with her. “My lady, please slow down. I don’t understand. I was confused when Kurayami and Saisho disappeared a few hours ago, but now that you are here…”
Hikari narrowed her eyes at Mizuko. “This is bad! There has to be a way to stop the time difference…”
The elf glanced outside of one of the windows, but the sight beyond was more boggling. There was no sky outside. The entire world surrounding the place she arrived was a white void.
Hikari ran to the window and opened it. The surroundings were the same as she remembered. An ivory tower stood on top of a huge plateau. As Hikari knew, that platform was actually on top of a giant tree, and the entire tower extended down into the inside. It was her idea to put all of the trophies at the top. After all, achievements are like a summit.
However, this tree was supposed to be in another grand forest! Now, it was surrounded on all sides by a white void. The more she panicked, the more her purple eyes became vibrant. Their glow served to further illuminate her surroundings. The elf remembered all of the spells she learned inside of the game in that small instance.

Time completely froze around her, and the bells on her staff rang across the entirety of the void.
“[Deafen The Luminous Void]”
She tapped her staff on the ground, and ripples spread throughout the infinite plane. The void of white began to recede rapidly, giving way to a serene blue sky. Clouds soared overhead, and the song of birds reached her ears.
The vampire ran up to the window with a confused look on her face. “Mistress, why did you cancel the domain and bring us back here?”
However, Hikari couldn’t answer. How could she? Before her eyes, the world of [Gensuba] spread out. An enormous sea of great trees spanning several kilometers tall. In the distance she could see a giant bird resembling a cloud, yet it’s wings spanned at least a kilometer on both sides.
“Quetz?”
The elf could not contain her confusion or the pounding of her heart. There was no doubt. Now, she was really inside of the game world. Moreover, the area she was in was a place in the lore called [Forest of Divinity].
It was an area not even able to be traversed by low level players. The only entities in this forest were level 800 or above. In fact, even the trees were considered divine in their own right.
“Mistress? Will you greet the others? They seem confused.”
Hikari reeled herself in and focused on the words of the vampire. “Where are they now?”
“The moment you arrived, they’ve been waiting inside of the [Dawn of Hope].”
Hikari recognized the words. It was the large temple she’d built that could house several divine dragons if she wanted. She vividly recalled how the interior even had a small pretentious throne for herself. If she’d have known this game would become reality…
The elf sighed and checked the globe next to her before anything. She spread her mana around the world she’d just come from. Somehow, she knew that this wasn’t the world exactly, but it was a way for her to exert her will on it. Scanning the globe with her mana, gave her the result she wanted.
She could see the people inside of that giant tree. Kurayami and the elders stood waiting. Yet, she also noticed that it had been several hours. The sky in that world was completely dark. However, time seemed to be more aligned now.
The moment Hikari’s mana scanned over Kurayami, the dragon looked up, and in the next instance she vanished from that plane.
In the next second, Kurayami appeared right next to Hikari and the vampire. Kurayami grabbed hold of Hikari tight, just as Mizuko had done before. Only Kurayami didn’t stop there, she directly leaned down and kissed Hikari on the lips.
Once the dragon separated, she scolded Hikari. “Master, you said you’d be right back! It’s been hours!”
The vampire glared at Kurayami. “Why are you getting so close to our queen? You even went as far as to k-kiss!” Mizuko looked at Hikari next. “My mistress, if it pleases you, I will punish this insolent fool.”
“Wait, wait, wait! It’s alright! Don’t fight!”
“Yeah, Master has already agreed to be my lover anyway!” Kurayami shouted with the smugness of a divine dragon.
“L-lovers!? At least make up a better lie, you fool!”
The elf wanted to make herself small, but deep down she knew that she was the cause of this commotion. Instead, she got between them and spoke in a small embarrassed voice.
“What Kurayami said…It’s true.”
“Huh!?” The vampire jumped and grabbed onto Hikari’s wrists. “How come you picked her!? And why only her!? I’ve also been here with you just as long as she has!”
Unrelated to the nesting doll worlds situation, Hikari felt a different headache coming on.
