Chapter 163: Black Night In Dreonah [7]
After the barrier shattered and the great gates collapsed, leaving a gaping hole in the city’s defenses, Ivan’s Legion poured into Dreonah like an unstoppable flood.
The air was filled with the clash of steel and the crackle of mana as the Legion engaged in fierce battle against the Hunters and Knights of Unadora. At first glance, Dreonah’s army had the advantage—their numbers far surpassed those of Ivan’s forces. With both the elite Knights and skilled Hunters on their side, victory should have been within their grasp.
But numbers alone weren’t enough.
There were two critical factors that tipped the scales heavily in Ivan’s favor.
First, every soldier in Ivan’s Legion bore a Stigma—a unique ability unlike anything the defenders of Dreonah had ever encountered. Though none of these were as powerful as the ones Ivan and his four generals possessed, they were still a deadly advantage. The Knights and Hunters had no experience fighting against these strange powers, and it showed. Confusion, hesitation, and fear spread like wildfire through their ranks, making them vulnerable.
The second—and far more devastating—reason was the presence of two absolute monsters tearing through their forces.
Dimitri and Kamila.
Twins. Barely more than teenagers. Yet the devastation they unleashed upon the battlefield was nothing short of terrifying.
Leading the charge at the heart of the Legion’s assault, the two siblings cut through Dreonah’s defenses with efficiency, carving a path straight toward the city’s core. Their objective was clear: take down the castle, where the royal family and the highest-ranking nobles were gathered. The moment the castle fell, the city would crumble along with it.
It was a strategy they had already used before—Britannia had fallen the same way. And just like before, they would surround the castle and snuff out every last trace of resistance.
But first, they had to get through the Knights of Unadora and the Hunters.
And that wouldn’t be difficult.
-BAM!
A body crashed violently into the stone-paved street. Dust and debris exploded around the impact.
“Ugh…!”
Idir, one of the S-Rank Hunters, groaned in pain as he struggled to move. His entire body was screaming in agony. His bones felt like they had nearly shattered from the sheer force of the attack.
Above him, floating in the air, was the one responsible.
Kamila.
Her blond hair billowed in the wind, and her pitch-black eyes gazed down at him with nothing but disdain—like he was nothing more than garbage at her feet.
She was young enough to be his daughter, yet she was toying with him as if he were a mere plaything. The sight of an S-Rank Hunter being manhandled so easily sent shockwaves through the battlefield.
The soldiers who witnessed it felt a chill creep down their spines.
She was beautiful—undeniably so. And yet, that beauty only made her more terrifying. Just like Ludmila, Kamila carried an eerie, otherworldly presence that made people question whether she was even human.
The same question could be asked about her twin brother.
-BOOM!
A violent explosion erupted as Anson barely managed to shield himself with a barrier of mana. But the moment Dimitri’s attack struck, the shield shattered like fragile glass. Anson was sent hurtling through the air, crashing hard against the side of a house.
He barely had time to process the impact before Dimitri appeared in front of him in a blur—moving faster than the eye could track.
-BOOOM!
A powerful kick struck Anson square in the stomach. His mouth opened in a silent scream of shock as blood erupted from his lips. His body was launched like a ragdoll, slamming into another building with enough force to crack the stone walls.
“A-Anson!” Idir turned in worry before clenching his fists. “Damn it!”
Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to his feet, his grip tightening around the hilt of his massive sword. His body still ached from Kamila’s earlier attack, but he had no choice—if they didn’t stop these two now, there wouldn’t be a city left to defend.

“You’re taking too long, brother,” Kamila complained, floating lazily above the battlefield as if she wasn’t even trying.
Dimitri scoffed. “And what about you?”
Kamila smirked. “It’s only a matter of time. I can handle the Legion on my own. You should go join Ivan and Mikhail.”
She wasn’t just saying that for strategy—there was a flicker of concern in her voice. Unlike the fools they were cutting down, there were two individuals who stood out. Two who felt… different. Merlin, in particular, wasn’t normal. Even from a distance, Kamila could tell there was something unsettling about that woman. She was dangerous.
And Dimitri felt it too.
But he shook his head. “I’ll push a little further before I leave.”
Kamila narrowed her eyes slightly. She knew exactly what he wasn’t saying.
He was overprotective. Always had been. Ever since their childhood, Dimitri had watched over her like a hawk, and after everything they had been through—after what the Paladins did to them—his paranoia had only gotten worse. He didn’t trust Merlin, and he sure as hell didn’t trust that Paladin who had shown up.
He wanted to be by her side, just in case.
“Ludmila is with me,” Kamila reminded him to reassure him. “You should go.”
Dimitri’s gaze flickered toward Ludmila, who was currently fighting… airships.
A surreal sight.
She was moving at impossible speeds, weaving through the sky like a living missile. One after another, the massive airships exploded in her wake, torn apart by the sheer force of her attacks. The long, black sword in her hands left nothing but destruction in its path.
She was terrifying.
“Ludmila is busy,” Dimitri said.
He wasn’t worried about Ivan or Mikhail.
He would be worried about Kamila and Ludmila but never Ivan and Mikhail.
They existed on an entirely different level.
“Ah!”
At that moment, Idir roared as he lunged forward, his massive sword crackling with mana. The blade flared to life, burning brightly as he gathered every ounce of strength he had left. With a powerful leap, he closed the distance between him and Kamila, ready to strike her down.
But she wasn’t even looking at him.
Her dark eyes were still locked onto Dimitri, a flicker of irritation flashing across her face.
Idir swung his sword down in a vertical slash, pouring all his energy into the attack—
And then she vanished.
A blur.
Before he could even register what had happened, Kamila reappeared above him, her slender leg already descending.
-BAM!
A lightning-fast kick struck the top of his skull, sending him crashing into the ground like a meteor. The force of the impact shook the battlefield, creating a crater beneath him.
Still hovering in the air, Kamila extended her hand toward the sky.
Then, she unleashed it.
Her Stigma roared to life, swirling above her like a dark storm. Dozens upon dozens of black blades materialized, their razor-sharp tips glowing with an ominous, pulsing energy. The very air trembled around them.
Idir gasped..
His instincts screamed at him—move!
Reacting instantly, he drove his sword into the ground, summoning a series of thick, towering walls of earth. They shot up around him, layer upon layer, forming a desperate barrier between him and the incoming attack.
Kamila scoffed.
Amused.
Disappointed.
With a flick of her wrist, she lowered her hand.
She wasn’t holding back this time.
The black Stigma blades tore through the sky, streaking down at terrifying speed like a black rain.
-BOOOM!!
The first wall shattered on impact. Then the second. Then the third.
Each strike obliterated the defenses as if they were nothing—mere sandcastles before a raging tide. The mana-infused walls that should have withstood siege weapons crumbled as though they were paper.
By the time the final few layers stood trembling on the verge of collapse, Idir knew he had no choice.
He had to move now.
He pushed off the ground, preparing to leap away—
And then he felt it.
A shiver ran down his spine. A bone-deep, instinctual dread.
She was behind him.
-Spurt!
Before he could react, a sharp, black spike of Stigma pierced through his chest.
“Arghh!!”
A choked cry of pain tore from his throat as blood splattered from his mouth. His hands shot to the spike, gripping it desperately, trying to pull it free.
Kamila tilted her head, watching him struggle with cold amusement. Then, with a slow motion, she twisted the spike.
Idir’s body convulsed. A fresh wave of pain unlike anything he had ever known ripped through him as the dark Stigma inside the spike tore into his flesh, twisting, writhing, corrupting.
He gasped, barely able to make a sound. His vision blurred. His strength faded.
And then-
-BOOOOM!
The final wall behind him collapsed.
The remaining black Stigma blades came crashing down.
-Spurt!
The sound of flesh being pierced echoed through the battlefield and Idir’s large body was left skewered by Kamila’s spikes.
Right after, Kamila released her Stigma, the Stigma dissipating from Idir’s dead body along the spikes. She took a step back then.
Before her, Idir’s lifeless body crumpled to the ground. The gathered Hunters stared in horror, their eyes flickering between the corpse and the woman who had killed him this easily.
Anson, who had barely managed to recover from the battle, felt a tightness in his chest. His hands clenched into fists as he stared at his fallen rival. There had been no mercy, no hesitation—just death.
Dimitri’s gaze flickered toward Anson, considering whether to also end him. But before he could act, his eyes landed on his sister. Something in her expression made him hesitate.
Kamila met his gaze. “I can handle myself, brother. But if anything happens to Ivan…” She paused and narrowed her eyes. “I will kill myself.”
“…”
Dimitri stared at her for a moment. He had always known this, deep down. But hearing it said aloud made it real. She wasn’t making a threat—she was stating a fact.
She loved Ivan more than anything—more than him. And Dimitri knew that, even though he, too, loved Ivan as a brother. Ivan had saved them both, giving them something to fight for. But between his sister and Ivan… Dimitri would always be more concerned about Kamila obviously.
But seeing her this insistent, he gave up.
Without another glance at Anson, he turned away. His boots dug into the dirt as he kicked off the ground, vanishing into the night.
