Chapter 385: Transformed Clever, The Giant Dark Gold Statue
The blinding light of the teleportation portal subsided, Stark momentarily disoriented.
He blinked, his vision adjusting to the stark contrast of their new surroundings.
The capital of Veldoria was now in full view.
The sky was blue, and at first glance, everything seemed to be normal.
That is, if you ignored all the screams.
“RUN!”
“LOOK AT IT, FUCKING HELL!”
“SOMEONE HELP!”
Veldoria was NOT a country where powerful classifiers usually stayed.
Of course, it still had rifts and academies, but in comparison to Fellarburg, it was nothing.
While everyone was running in the opposite direction, Oliver, who was still carrying Stark in his arms, suddenly looked at the sky.
“Heh, this is more insane than I thought, I haven’t seen something like that in my entire life.”
What he said meant that through all these decades of being the commander of the [Domination Association], a thing of this scale had never happened before.
[Oh boy :)]
The “Classes Figure” materialized beside them, looking at the sky too, it was seemingly able to follow Stark wherever he went.
“So, where the hell is he—” Stark began, still cuffed, but his voice trailed off as his eyes looked up.
A colossal figure dominated the horizon, towering so high it seemed to scrape the heavens.
“…Oh,” Stark muttered, his throat suddenly dry.
It was unmistakably a statue, but this wasn’t like the decently-sized one Clever was known for in the real world.
This one was different, terrifyingly so.
Instead of shimmering gold, its surface was a dull, menacing dark gold, like corrupted metal that had absorbed centuries of despair.
It was as though the statue itself rejected light, devouring any radiance that dared approach it.
The statue’s form was unnerving.
It was at least ten times as big as Clever’s golden counterpart, and it still had one hundred arms, all raised toward the sky.
This statue exuded a feeling of dread, an oppressive weight that pressed against Stark’s chest even from miles away.
Oliver nodded grimly. “That’s him.”
“Why isn’t he attacking,” Stark asked, confused.
With the sheer size of that thing, it should be easily able to defeat level 900-1000 classifiers, destroying entire cities by itself.
“No idea, I’ll have to try and take it down, though.”
[I think now should be the right time to leave that loser and go our separate ways :)]

‘Not yet,’ Stark’s eyes burned with aura as he answered the Figure. ‘I want to see.’
[Damn. Playing the long game, huh?]
‘What’s your way out, anyway?’
[Well, we actually have two ways, but we’ll explain later. Just say “do it” when you’re ready. No backing out after that!]
‘Alright.’
Oliver dashed toward the statue, dodging panicked citizens, crushed vehicles, and destroyed buildings.
Stark bounced uncomfortably in his arms, the cuffs around his wrists still clinking.
The closer they got, the worse the destruction became.
Bodies of civilians and classifiers alike littered the ground, some crushed beyond recognition.
The ground was flat, scorched black by the statue’s power.
The statue looked giant from everywhere, but he still had to run for a while before arriving to its location.
[Clever, Immortal-Level (Transformed)]
[Level: 180]
[Domination Power: 100-Golden Arms Statue.]
[Attributes: ???]
[Skills: ???]
Stark checked from afar, but alas, he was simply given basic information, the skills and attributes hidden from him.
Though the sole fact Clever was level 180 meant he would be insanely strong.
At the level of level 900 classifiers, if not more, especially with that power of his.
Thankfully enough, though, Oliver was level 200, meaning that it should be fairly easy to deal with it: the sole problem was the destruction that would occur.
The sheer weight of the statue’s aura suffocated the air, and the figure only seemed larger now, its arms casting shadows over the broken streets below.
At its base, the devastation was absolute. Buildings no longer stood; they were piles of rubble.
In the center of it all, Clever sat.
He was no longer the frail old man Stark had once seen.
His appearance had been twisted, grotesquely enhanced by his transformation.
His body was now unnaturally tall and broad, clad in sleek, dark gold armor that shimmered faintly under the dim light.
His face, once lined with age, was hidden beneath a jagged mask that seemed to fuse with his flesh, only his crimson eyes glowing through the gaps.
Clever floated a few feet above the ground, legs crossed in a meditative pose.
Despite the carnage surrounding him, he exuded a calm, almost serene energy, his dark aura swirling lazily around him.
“Here it is,” Oliver said, grinning as he finally set Stark down.
Clever’s eyes snapped open, glowing brighter.
He regarded Oliver and Stark with mild interest, then spoke in a voice that echoed unnaturally, as though a dozen others spoke alongside him.
“You’re here.”
“My statue warned me.”
Oliver cracked his knuckles. “I hope it warned you that you’re about to die, too.”
[Cringe one-liners,] the Classes Figure whispered beside him. “[Need help?]”
“Not yet,” Stark replied, watching the scene unfold.
Clever unfolded his legs and rose slowly, his feet still hovering above the cracked ground.
His crimson eyes burned brighter, and the statue above him finally stirred, its hundred arms lowering in synchronization.
“Destruction and chaos,” Clever said, his voice eerily calm. “That is all I want. I simply waited for a worthy opponent to appear. Otherwise, it would all be meaningless.”
None of the transformed participants were under the influence of the Godless Demon, don’t get it twisted.
It was simply their appearances becoming more grotesque, their powers growing stronger, and more importantly, their urges for violence reaching their max, forcing them to kill and destroy.
Clever seemed to be the only one strong enough to actually endure it a little bit, though he still wanted to fight and kill.
These things mimicked the original personalities.
“And now that you’re here,” Clever continued, a wicked smile spreading across his grotesque face, “this country will burn as I rip your body apart.”
Clever raised an arm, and the dark gold statue above him responded instantly, its massive arms descending toward the battlefield.
Each arm carried enough force to flatten an entire city block, and even the faintest brush would mean death.
The crushed bodies of dozens of classifiers surrounding the area were evidence of that.
[A bunch of idiots 🙂 They thought he was level 180. Adorable.]
Stark frowned.
These classifiers, and more specifically the ones that had a perception skill, probably saw level 180 on Clever’s status windows, thus thinking that he was an easy target and that his statue was all for show.
Even after witnessing the Domination Trial, it was impossible for anybody to truly know about how the class worked after all.
It was only after hundreds of losses that they realized that this thing was in fact NOT level 180, as it was able to defeat level 900+ classifiers easily.
But as Clever laughed and the statue’s arms began their descent, Oliver moved.
“Destruction!” Clever roared, his laughter echoing.
The statue’s eye sockets flared with dark flames, its arms ready to strike.
“Sorry to disappoint you, old man,” he grinned, “But I’m about to do something only a handful of domination users know of.”
[…?]
“…?”
Stark was confused, and so right as he was about to ask for the classes to let him go, he suddenly stopped.
Was there such a thing? Or was Oliver bluffing?
There was no real way to stop the destruction that would happen, and even though Oliver was level 200, thus able to defeat Clever with time, he would still have to endure the assault of arms from the statue.
Or at least… that is what he believed.
Oliver stood firm, the air around him crackling with energy. “Pay attention, kid,” he called over his shoulder.
Stark narrowed his eyes.
“That’s something you only get after reaching level 200 of the domination class.”
Clever’s smile faded slightly, his eyes narrowing.
Oliver grinned wider.
“DOMINATION EXPANSION: ARENA SHOWDOWN!”
