Chapter 381: Chapter381-Parting Once More
John cast a concerned and discreet glance towards Benjamin and the others standing at the dock.
How could Scarlett be unaware of this? She smiled gently and shook her head slightly at John.
“Don’t worry. If I dared to come here, I definitely have my reasons. They wouldn’t dare lay a hand on me.”
“You all should leave first. There’s too much going on here, and they won’t let you go easily. Plus, I’ve heard that the High Priest from the Immortality Church is returning soon. It’s best if you leave now.”
Scarlett spoke the last sentence in a lowered voice, sending John’s spirits plummeting as he guessed that this so-called High Priest was not someone to be trifled with.
“Are you really not coming with us? I’m not comfortable leaving you here alone.”
John hesitated as he said this, his voice laced with concern for a woman with whom he had once shared a bond.
The thought of leaving her in such peril was unsettling.
Hearing John’s words, Scarlett’s heart nearly melted, but she still smiled and shook her head.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about me. I can take care of myself. Just look after yourselves and be careful when you leave.”
As she spoke, Scarlett took John’s hand, their closeness resembling that of a couple sharing an intimate moment before parting.
However, John felt something in the palm of his hand.
He smiled discreetly and pulled Scarlett into an embrace.
With this movement, he secretly slipped the object into his secret realm shard.
He knew that for those with significant power, the energy fluctuations from a spatial storage bag were quite noticeable.
But if he placed it into his secret realm, it would be much less obvious.
Yet, he was genuinely curious about what she had given him so surreptitiously.
“Are you really not coming with us?”
Vincent asked, glancing subtly at Francis and the others.
John felt a pang of worry, but Scarlett shook her head.
“Don’t worry, I’m not about to gamble with my life.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come find you in the capital. Just don’t hide from me when I do,” Scarlett joked, prompting John to chuckle and affectionately tousle her hair.
“How could I possibly hide from you? Don’t worry, whenever you come, I’ll be there to meet you.”
John didn’t say anything else but silently returned to the airship.
The airship, similar in size to a small spaceship, was quite spacious, easily accommodating their group.
Inside, there were four rooms, a lounge, a training room, and even a kitchen and dining area.
Indeed, it was quite roomy, but the drawback of the airship was its inability to support long-distance stellar voyages.
It was only capable of making jumps between planets because its materials were not as robust as those of a spaceship.
It could not withstand space storms or meteor swarms.
For longer jumps between star systems, he typically used a spaceship.

However, this time they had assessed the airship’s materials and found them adequate for their return to Capital Star, especially given the energy scarcity on this planet.
The Dark Fox team was always on high alert.
It wasn’t until they had completely piloted the airship away from the dock that they began to relax a bit.
But just as their airship was about to ascend, John suddenly felt an impending danger.
Instinctively, he looked down through the airship’s window glass and saw Francis’s face twisted in an ugly expression.
With a wave of his hand, the blood beads suddenly hurled towards them!
The blood beads, charged with a thunderous force, surged towards them in an instant!
They could almost feel that if these blood beads were to hit, their airship would be riddled with holes, despite being mere liquid orbs.
Such damage would certainly render the airship incapable of enduring a stellar voyage.
But the next second, a silvery-white light membrane enveloped their airship.
The blood beads crashed into this radiant shield and dissolved into nothingness.
John was astonished but relieved when he glanced towards Vincent.
Indeed, a true powerhouse was always prepared; he must have anticipated someone making a move against them.
A few blood beads did not vanish but instead hovered in mid-air.
Vincent snorted coldly.
With a fierce glare, the next second, those beads shot back along their original path!
Francis and Benjamin’s eyes widened in disbelief, teeth clenched as if they had witnessed the unimaginable.
Desperately, they tried to dodge, but found themselves immobilized as if locked in place!
With a dull thud, the blood beads pierced through flesh.
In an instant, their bodies were perforated with bloody holes.
If others had not felt the power of these blood beads, the sheer terror in the hearts of these two men was undeniable.
Both men fully understood the sensation of their bodies being pierced in that instant.
It was as if an infinite force had locked onto them, rendering any attempt to resist futile.
The holes made by the blood beads were tiny, yet their blood incessantly flowed outward, unstoppable.
It seemed the blood beads had mixed with a force alien to their bodies, which relentlessly expanded the wounds.
Francis looked down to see the hole in his shoulder gradually widening, from the size of a mung bean to that of a broad bean.
Clenching his teeth, he pulled out a top-quality life restoration potion from his storage ring, but drinking it did nothing to stem the flow of blood.
Their wounds received no relief and seemed only to worsen.
Meanwhile, Benjamin became increasingly anxious as a green mist formed around his body.
This mist slowly enveloped his wound, somewhat slowing its expansion, yet it did nothing to heal it.
The expressions on their faces grew even grimmer.
They were powerful figures with significant abilities, but now they found themselves struck down by their own device, utterly unable to retaliate—a bitter pill to swallow indeed.
Vincent’s voice carried a light chuckle, as if he were watching a joke unfold.
“I must say, you’re too hospitable. Knowing full well I dislike such things, yet you insist on giving me more. Since that’s the case, I’ll just have to return the favor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I don’t.”
The airship sped away, quickly exiting the confines of the dock and heading into the vast, boundless expanse of starry space.
John watched the two men bleeding profusely on the dock and couldn’t help but smile, a curve forming at the corners of his mouth.
“It seems they’ve finally got a taste of their own medicine. But how did you know for sure they would make a move on us?” he asked, a touch of curiosity in his voice.
He had thought that since Vincent had already shown his hand, those men would have some reservations.
But it seemed they were intent on demonstrating their folly, as if their brains were addled, flaunting their pitiful intelligence.
Didn’t they know that in the face of absolute power, all their schemes were just futile?
Vincent didn’t reply, only gave John a knowing look and then swept the airship with his mind power once more.
