Chapter 390: Chapter390-A New Plan
Just as Scarlett was about to leave, she suddenly heard Francis remark in a subdued tone, “I wonder how John is doing now, whether he can still make it back to Capital Star alive.”
Scarlett’s fingers gently tapped the armrest of her chair.
Almost instantly, everyone else, quite sensibly, did not depart but stayed put, listening to the two men talk.
Francis clearly felt that Scarlett was very concerned about John, his lips curling into a mocking smile as he continued, “After all, we did arrange for something else with Vulture. If that thing explodes, maybe their whole group will get caught up in it.”
Benjamin glanced at Scarlett and then at Francis before joining in with a laugh, “Exactly. We thought we wouldn’t need that thing, but turns out it’s still pretty useful. Maybe some people will end up without a place to be buried.”
Both men laughed at this, but Scarlett slightly furrowed her brows.
Then, Benjamin spoke with a smile, “Why has the saintess paused? Is there something you need help with? Don’t hold back. Just say the word, and we can take care of it for you.”
Benjamin presented himself as a perfect gentleman, but in reality, he was eager to spill everything.
Scarlett indeed wanted to leave, but the mention of John made it impossible for her to walk away.
“I’m curious, what kind of means do you have that even John got involved? Don’t forget, they have someone by their side who’s reputed to be the strongest below the semigod-tier.”
Scarlett stated this coolly, but neither of the two men responded, just leisurely watching her.
It seemed as if they were indicating, the more you care, the less we’ll tell you.
Scarlett shifted to a more comfortable position on the chair, her toes lightly tapping.
Her slender, long legs emerged gracefully from her skirt, looking exceedingly enticing.
Indeed, some cast greedy looks at those beautiful legs.
However, knowing her identity, they refrained from any rash actions.
A woman with power, ambition, and the backing of her status was never prey in this place.
“Does the saintess also have an interest in John?” Francis said with a sly grin, his tone filled with teasing.
“I wasn’t aware that the Dawn Sect had become involved with the Hidden Stars. Does your High Priest know about this?”
Scarlett’s smile slightly receded, no longer appearing so carefree but now carrying a hint of threat.
“Or is it that all of this is merely because the saintess herself harbors a secret affection for John, and thus thinking of…”
Whoosh!
Before Francis could finish his sentence, the sound of something slicing through the air interrupted him.
He instinctively dodged to the side, only to realize that it was a black hairpin that had embedded itself into the stone pillar behind him.
The hairpin, a full 10cm long, now showed only a small black dot, evidencing the tremendous force behind its throw.
In the face of absolute power, all schemes and tricks are merely paper tigers.
Yet, Francis was not frightened; instead, he smiled leisurely.
“It seems the saintess truly cares deeply about this matter, to the point of not even letting me speak.”
“But, saintess, your concern for this man—does the High Priest know about it?”
Francis repeated his question, taking the opportunity to gauge the reactions of others around him.

The people who had come to meet Scarlett were dressed in attire that suggested they were of at least priestly status.
If all these individuals were following Scarlett’s commands, it indicated her prominent standing within the Dawn Sect.
Considering this, some things might need to be reconsidered.
Scarlett leaned forward, her slender, long legs slightly curling back as she smiled, her red lips parting slightly.
“Tell me, if I were to kill the two of you here, would the other powers on Alkaid thank me?”
In an instant, the air thickened with a palpable aura of lethality, as if an invisible force was relentlessly spreading.
Both men felt a distinct oppression, but inside they were filled with alarm and astonishment.
How could this woman, merely a diamond-tier awakener, exert such immense pressure on them?
Benjamin, a supreme-tier being, should not be intimidated by her, yet now things seemed different.
Her power baffled them.
It seemed to transcend any known spell or physical damage.
It was a dominance emanating from an absolute realm, as if stepping into her domain meant being utterly subdued.
What was this power?
The two men exchanged glances, each seeing the terror in the other’s eyes.
But they quickly regained their composure.
“The saintess jests. If you alone intend to kill us, it wouldn’t be so simple,” Francis said, revealing his own strength.
Although he was also diamond-tier, it didn’t mean he was ineffectual.
No one who held their ground in this place was simple.
Scarlett looked nonchalantly at the two men.
“Is that so? I find it quite simple.”
As she spoke, Scarlett released the essence of the Dawn Goddess within her, letting it surge out all at once.
Meanwhile, Scarlett remained calm and composed, as if nothing had happened.
“Now, are you two ready to have a proper conversation with me? Tell me what I want to know.”
Both men suddenly felt extremely frustrated.
If they couldn’t defeat John before, they could argue they were caught off-guard.
But now, to be outmatched by this woman in front of them was nothing short of humiliating.
Yet, the reality was inescapable; even if they wanted to leave, they simply couldn’t.
Blood trickled from the corners of their mouths, their hands clenched into fists.
With some difficulty, they managed to speak, “What do you want to know?”
Scarlett smiled charmingly.
“For instance, tell me what kind of backup plans you have, or what you intend to do to John. If I’m in a good mood, I might decide not to harm you.”
Her tone was nonchalant.
The two men’s minds raced, thinking this might be an opportunity to negotiate.
But Scarlett, as if she had already guessed their thoughts, intensified that crushing pressure, making it feel as though a mountain was pressing down on them.
Eventually, both men even bent their knees and knelt on the ground.
Onlookers saw everything clearly, their eyes wide open in disbelief.
It was astonishing.
The two most powerful figures on their planet were now being subdued and forced to kneel by someone else?
It was almost like seeing a ghost!
