Chapter 399: Chapter399-An Unexpected Reunion
Victor wiped his face, hesitating to speak.
To be honest, he had never imagined that the two of them would meet in a place like this.
Silver Tear let out a sardonic laugh.
“They say people meet at the peak, and I suppose we’re no different. This must be another kind of peak meeting, right?”
Meeting in a pigsty—how could that not be considered a different kind of peak?
Victor’s expression was one of resigned helplessness.
To be honest, he had regained consciousness as soon as they entered this place.
But he quickly realized that the body he inhabited wasn’t his own, and he immediately understood that their consciousness had entered a fragment of the secret realm.
These consciousness-based secret realm fragments were actually quite common, but typically, their physical bodies would be well-protected.
To enter a fragment like this, adrift in the vastness of space with no one guarding their bodies, was something else entirely.
“We need to find a way out of here quickly. We have no idea what’s going on outside. If something happens to our physical bodies, we could be in serious trouble,” Victor said.
After hearing this, Silver Tear couldn’t help but smile awkwardly.
Although they had long stopped fearing death, this kind of demise would be a bit embarrassing, wouldn’t it?
If word got out, who knows how much their colleagues would laugh at them?
“But I still don’t know what the task in this secret realm is, and right now, all the creatures have yellow names—we can’t even attack them,” Victor said, his frustration evident.
The two of them were slaves, which meant that if they stepped out of the pigsty, they would be immediately captured.
Victor noticed that he seemed to have runes on his body, though these runes looked different from what he had seen before.
With a keen eye, Victor quickly observed that the runes on his body were distinctly different from those of the people here.
His runes emitted a faint golden glow under the sunlight, while the runes of the locals appeared to be green.
The difference in color indicated that they belonged to different factions.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t be stuck in a pigsty.
Both of them wore expressions of hesitant realization, understanding that if their other companions had also entered this secret realm as consciousnesses, they were likely in dire straits as well.
“But no matter how bad it is for them, it can’t be worse than what we’re going through, right?”
Silver Tear remarked, casting a disdainful glance at the pigs nearby, which were continually grunting and squealing.
These pigs were also a type of magical beast, and they seemed quite dangerous.
Even the pigsty was reinforced with runic restraints.
But since they were slaves and had no place to stay, they were forced to remain in the pigsty, alongside the beasts.
Meanwhile, Dark Fox sat in a room, his expression teetering on the brink of collapse.
Though they had previously encountered secret realms where consciousness was transferred, those experiences were usually pre-set.
But this time, everything was completely random, and the randomness was utterly absurd.

Dark Fox stared at his reflection in a water basin, seeing a face that seemed normal enough—full beard, tall stature, and a scar running across a rugged face.
Quite heroic, really, except for one thing: the body was that of a woman.
All these elements combined in a single person made for a very unusual and somewhat awkward situation.
At that moment, Dark Fox felt utterly defeated.
He had no idea how to deal with this situation.
It was incredibly frustrating.
He also had no clue where the others were or what they had become.
Even if his teammates were standing right in front of him, he wouldn’t be able to recognize them—this was all too ridiculous.
Dark Fox didn’t even want to speak.
Though the body looked rough and tough, the voice was impossibly delicate and sweet.
To put it bluntly, there were probably few dainty young girls whose voices were as soft and tender as his now.
Dark Fox had no idea where his teammates were, but he knew he had to take things one step at a time.
After all, it seemed like the identity of this body was quite prestigious—apparently, he was the daughter of the tribe’s leader.
Whether there were other hidden aspects to this identity, he couldn’t be sure.
During this time, Dark Fox wandered around the tribe, hoping to spot his teammates.
However, after searching the entire area, he found no one familiar.
He left behind some subtle marks, but they didn’t seem to yield any results.
No one responded, and no one reached out to him.
Could it be that he was the only one in this tribe? Were his teammates scattered elsewhere?
Scratching his head in frustration, Dark Fox couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of confusion.
More than anything, he wanted to know where his teammates had gone.
Meanwhile, early the next morning, John was awakened by a commotion outside.
He instantly became alert and glanced over at Vincent.
The two exchanged a knowing look.
John’s face took on a mischievous expression, prompting Vincent to roll his eyes in response.
Nevertheless, Vincent played along, his tone becoming more respectful as he spoke.
“Divine Envoy, what would you like for breakfast today? We can prepare a feast of magical beast meat and Green Fruit just for you.”
John nodded calmly, doing his best to maintain composure.
“Whatever you’re having is fine with me. I’m not picky.”
He wasn’t sure if it was just his imagination, but after saying this, he noticed Vincent’s expression taking on a peculiar, almost amused look.
John had no idea what was going on, but Vincent quickly left to make the preparations.
When he returned, he carried a wooden tray filled with magical beast meat and Green Fruit.
The meat looked unappetizing, with no aroma to speak of—it was simply boiled.
The beast flesh looked incredibly tough, with visible veins of blood running through it, making it all the more repulsive.
“This is the best meat from the tribe’s pigs, and it doesn’t have any of that usual beastly stench. I hope the Divine Envoy will enjoy it,” Vincent said with a faint smile, seemingly intentional in his phrasing.
John suddenly realized why Vincent’s expression had been so odd when he’d mentioned eating magical beast meat earlier.
Skeptically, John picked up a small piece of meat and took a bite.
The moment he bit down, he nearly teared up.
Good heavens, how could anyone eat this? It was tougher than wood.
And the taste—an awful combination of rancid, gamey, and sour flavors assaulted his senses.
He was stuck between spitting it out and forcing it down, his face turning bright red.
Vincent grinned mischievously.
“Is something wrong, Divine Envoy? Don’t you like our food?”
John shot Vincent a fierce glare before pulling out some spices from his pet backpack.
Vincent’s eyes widened in surprise at the sight.
“You actually carry that stuff with you?”
Vincent exclaimed, clearly astonished.
John rolled his eyes.
“Why? Is it really such a rare thing?”
John, after all, often spent time outdoors, and grilling meat was a regular activity for her.
So having spices on hand didn’t seem like a big deal.
Vincent was momentarily taken aback, then let out a sigh.
“Looks like I need to start preparing better from now on.”
Even though their storage space was still usable, Vincent hadn’t packed any seasonings, making it all pretty useless.
The aroma of the spices soon filled the air.
“That smells amazing!”
