Chapter 401: Chapter401-Tribal Warfare
John’s face bore no expression, yet within, his mind earnestly pondered the matter at hand.
He considered the possibility of other tribes possessing their own high priests or equivalents…
John’s slightly lowered eyes remained silent, but internally, his thoughts were becoming clear and distinct.
“Let us now have our Divine Envoy bless us all!” declared the high priest.
At these words, everyone’s gaze fixed intensely on John.
Surrounded by so many expectant eyes, John showed no trace of timidity but slowly ascended the platform.
“Today, I will join you in battle!”
Upon hearing John’s declaration, excitement surged through the crowd.
They knew they were in the presence of a divine messenger.
With such a being at their side, their chances of victory were greatly enhanced.
John had prepared a Great Illumination Spell, laced with potions for enhancement.
This time, he had prepared potions for enhanced recovery.
Having studied the matter, he knew that if he could combine these potions with certain runes, the duration and effect of the enhancements could be significantly extended.
Normally, the effects of the potions lasted only half an hour, but with rune amplification, they could last two, even three hours.
This was a boon for them, as it reduced the need for frequent buff replenishments.
In that moment, every warrior felt an unusual radiance emanating within them.
They couldn’t help but reveal expressions of joy.
Excited shouts and screams echoed around.
“The Zebra Tribe!”
“We, the Zebra Tribe, will surely be the strongest!”
“We must win! We will win!”
Countless voices called out in unison.
Even the old, sick, and weak in the tribe began to loudly chant the name of the Zebra Tribe.
At that moment, John noticed a faint golden glow appearing around them, which seemed to float in the air.
This golden light, touched by the sunlight, fell upon the runes as if bestowing an additional buff.
John pondered thoughtfully.
He began to understand why the people of this tribe were so thrilled—it was their intense sense of belonging.
And it was this feeling that allowed them to aspire for more, for better.
The high priest looked at John with eyes full of admiration.
The tribal chief, slightly puzzled, seemed to hesitate, unsure of how John should join the battle.

After all, this was a divine envoy; what if something unforeseen happened?
But the chief soon dismissed his concern as unnecessary.
If he was indeed a messenger of the gods, it was unlikely anything would go wrong so easily.
Thus, he was merely worrying over nothing.
John certainly did not disappoint.
With a gentle wave of his staff, three enormous serpents erupted from the ground!
Everyone’s face involuntarily showed surprise upon seeing these serpents, mingled with a hint of fear.
Even though they knew these monstrous beasts were summoned by the Divine Envoy, the proximity to such creatures was still frightening, for they had never been this close to such beasts before.
Some uncontrollably stepped back, while others watched excitedly.
Fire and Mountain were the most thrilled.
Wind stepped forward and gently touched the skin of a serpent.
He had returned by carriage, and had not observed them closely before—now, seizing the opportunity, his eyes sparkled with excitement as he looked at John, seemingly eager to ride these serpents into battle!
After all, these towering serpents stood four to five meters tall, supporting them.
They had never possessed such magnificent beasts before; their tribe typically only kept domesticated creatures like chickens, ducks, pigs, and geese for sustenance.
They had never had combat beasts of this sort in their tribe.
John noticed Wind’s eagerness, a slight smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
He surveyed the tribe’s warriors—barely over 3000, a significant number, comprising nearly two-thirds of their fighting strength, since they needed to leave some behind to protect their homes.
After all, if everyone left, they risked having their homes pillaged.
Understanding their concerns, John hesitated no further and swiftly cast his staff towards the tribal fence, wrapping it with thick brambles.
“Thorn Wrap!”
“Thorn Shield!”
With a few deft taps of his staff, which burst into a dazzling light, layers of thorns began to coil around their fences.
But that wasn’t all.
One person, bold enough to inspect the enchanted barrier, was pricked and immediately bled profusely, the blood unceasing.
Shocked and somewhat panicked, he glanced at John with a mix of fear and concern.
The onlookers grew nervous, worried they might have offended the divine envoy.
If they were hurt, they could hardly blame anyone but themselves.
Even the chief watched John anxiously, concerned that he might be angered.
After all, John had enhanced the fence with vines primarily for their protection.
Yet now, by their own actions, they risked injury—a fault that could not be blamed on others.
John smiled gently and then, with a divine murmur, said to the injured man, “May the gods bless you!”
As he spoke, he lightly tapped his staff, and a beam of light fell directly onto the man’s hand.
The man felt a cool sensation on his fingers, and the wound that had been bleeding profusely was instantly healed.
Even more, he felt an inexhaustible strength surge through his body.
The pain and vulnerability that had come with the bleeding vanished completely at that moment.
Others looked on in astonishment at the healed wound on the man’s hand, their expressions turning to one of admiration.
Truly, this was the power of the gods!
To them, such a feat seemed utterly impossible.
Yet now, John had healed the wound with nothing but a white orb of light—astonishing, truly astonishing!
The high priest glanced at John with a hint of curiosity.
He too had felt an unusual power emanating from John’s staff, but what this power was, he could not tell.
John simply smiled mysteriously and remained silent.
For John, the words he spoke were not of any otherworldly power but merely a simple life-restoration potion.
Both Thorn Wrap and Thorn Shield carried a continuous bleeding buff.
Therefore, without dispelling it or timely HP restoration, the situation could worsen.
But to others, John’s simple gesture appeared nothing short of a miracle.
Everyone looked on enviously at the man who had been personally healed by the divine envoy.
Surely, being healed by such a figure would grant him extra strength on the battlefield!
With the three serpents leading the way, John and the tribal chief rode atop the heads of two, while other warriors stood on the third serpent.
The high priest had initially wanted to join them, but with John present, he chose to remain behind to protect the tribe.
Together, they marched proudly towards the Eagle Tribe!
