I'm The Devil - Chapter 170
Chapter 170: Cain And Seth
As Cain freely wandered the City of Wonders, he did not know that tonight was going to be one hell of a night for him.
Elsewhere
Seth was attending to his daily business as an innkeeper after giving up on looking for Cain to enact his vengeance, with his new wife, Lydia who made him come to that decision.
Lydia has found out that her new husband is not a human but a creation of the night, a predator and the very first of his Kind, which is why she was so adamant about coming to the City of Wonders to figure out if there is some like him, else she would have just enjoyed her peace in the small town they previously made and resided.
As Seth went about his daily tasks in the bustling inn, Lydia worked alongside him, her presence bringing a sense of warmth and comfort to their shared space.
“Seth, do you ever miss the days when it was just the two of us in our little town?” Lydia asked, her voice soft with nostalgia as she wiped down a table.
Seth paused, his gaze lingering on Lydia as he considered her question. “Sometimes, yes,” he admitted, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips. “But I also appreciate the sense of community and opportunity that this city provides. It’s a chance for us to start anew, to carve out a better life for ourselves.”
Lydia nodded in agreement, her expression thoughtful. “I suppose you’re right,” she conceded, her fingers tracing patterns on the wooden surface of the table. “It’s just… different here, isn’t it? Everything moves so quickly, and there’s always something new to see or experience.”
Seth reached out to gently squeeze Lydia’s hand, offering her a reassuring smile. “Change can be daunting, but it’s also necessary for growth,” he reassured her. “We’ll find our place in this city, Lydia. Together.”
Lydia returned Seth’s smile, her eyes shining with gratitude and affection. “Together,” she echoed the word carrying a weight of promise and solidarity between them.
Unbeknownst to either of them, that peace was going to shatter in the next few minutes as the man who haunted Seth’s dream walked in right at that moment, causing Seth to freeze in shock, never expecting to see him here.
As Cain laid eyes on Seth, a sardonic smirk twisted his lips, betraying the mockery in his heart. He had not expected to encounter his brother in the bustling streets of the City of Wonders, and yet here Seth stood, a stark reminder of the past that Cain had long sought to bury.
“Well, well, well,” Cain drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm as he sauntered closer to Seth, his eyes alight with amusement. “If it isn’t my dear brother, the righteous one. What brings you to this magnificent city, Seth? Finally tired of wallowing in your misery?”
Seth’s jaw clenched with barely restrained fury at Cain’s taunting words, his hands curling into fists at his sides. He had hoped to escape the shadow of his brother’s betrayal, to find solace in a new life far from the pain of the past. But now, faced with Cain’s mocking gaze, that hope crumbled like ash in the wind.
“I have no time for your games, Cain,” Seth replied through gritted teeth, his voice tinged with barely contained rage. “Leave me be, or I swear by all that is holy, I will make you regret ever setting foot in this city.”
Cain’s smirk widened at Seth’s threat, his eyes glinting with mischief as he raised an eyebrow in mock surprise.
“My, my, such hostility,” Cain chuckled, his tone laced with derision. “You always were the fiery one, weren’t you, dear brother? But tell me, Seth, how were you able to survive, I thought I ripped your heart out and fed it to the vultures who feasted on it with shining eyes?”
As Cain’s taunting words continued to inflame Seth’s simmering rage, a primal growl rumbled deep within his chest. Without another word, Seth’s control snapped like a brittle twig, his vision tinted red with fury as he lunged at Cain with a feral snarl.
The bustling streets of the City of Wonders fell into chaos as Seth’s transformation began, his muscles rippling and contorting beneath his skin as he shifted into his partial werewolf form. His teeth elongated into razor-sharp fangs, his nails sharpening into claws as his senses heightened to a fever pitch.
Cain’s smirk faltered for just a moment as he beheld Seth’s ferocious transformation, a glimmer of uncertainty flickering in his eyes before being swiftly replaced by a predatory gleam. With lightning reflexes honed over centuries of survival, Cain dodged Seth’s initial attack, gracefully sidestepping his brother’s lunge with a fluid motion.
“Oh, I see, you became a beast, an animal, now I know why you survived,” said Cain dodging an attack from Seth who has lost all of his sanity and is only hell-bent on killing Kill once and for all and be done with this chapter of his life.
“Is that the best you can do, dear brother?” Cain taunted, his voice laced with amusement as he danced effortlessly out of Seth’s reach. “I expected more from the great Seth, the mighty werewolf. But it seems you’ve lost your edge, just like old times.”
Seth roared with primal fury, his rage boiling over as he launched himself at Cain once more, his claws slashing through the air with lethal precision. Cain, however, proved to be an elusive adversary, his movements fluid and unpredictable as he countered Seth’s onslaught with eerie grace.
As the two brothers clashed in a frenzied dance of blood and fury, the onlookers in the crowded streets recoiled in terror, scrambling to clear a path as the battle raged on. But amidst the chaos and violence, one thing remained clear: the age-old feud between Seth and Cain had been reignited with a vengeance, and only one of them would emerge victorious from this deadly confrontation.
